This may sound abbit stupid, but couldn they just shutdown DE server?
I do not think NC will need any laws to shut EU servers.
They will shut them when it wont be profitable anymore.
And i believe that its sooner than later.
So don't hide behind ur shadows, 'hommies'.

Especially since we had a all double-xp week that you hadn't. It's not a single weekend that will upset us not to be in the US.

I am all french.
I love this game.
I happen to play on US servers.
I happened to be there on last double XP.
I happened to notice that the lag, rubberband, and so forth, were not worse than in the previous X2XP WE.
I happen to stick with the position who says (obove, somewere) that this 'gift' of XPX2' is another incentive for the gamers to stay playin' CoX.
I maybe made a mistake trying to help the Euro community, sayin' 'you guys are the fan base too, so, please...' claim your xpx2 too.
maybe we/you, the french, are the cowards they depict on ABC all day...
I still believe this game is getting outdated with those separed servers/chats/events.

I believe games are part of life, at least our lives.
Life as politics, socialties, wars, peace, etc...
So, if one's beliefs is that games are a part of life, they should be under the same contingencies as life in a random acceptation of the word.
I do believe it is appropriate to rate, observe, and eventually ban games,
the same way games ban gamers.
In other words, people here can red one's rep, because they are saying stupid things, in the readers eye. They certainly believe its "appropriate".
Even thouth, its NOT democratic.
Now, why a democraticaly elected governement wouldnt not apply the sorta same 'appropriate' measures?
In other words, do we want chaos?
I dont have any answer to that.

Nobody's going to shut down any servers or get CoH banned in Germany. A German player posted earlier in the thread (and in a thread on the German boards) about how its just blah blah from a few right-wing politicians and a good scare story for the media.
There are far more important things to worry about...like where am i going to get funding for my awesome epic Jesus Vs Dracula king-fu n bullet-time movie?

Hum not really. We have our own problems with our government trying to push some stupid laws to regulate copyright infringment and stuff like that, which of course turns out to be ridiculous both from an ethical and technical point of view. Try doing some research about the HADOPI project if you're interested into it. I wouldn't even be surprised if it was somehow inspired or linked with Germany since France and Germany work together on many things and our political leaders are in good terms.
At least it's not really in a good way to become something real. It has so many flaws it's just a bad joke for anyone who knows something about computers.

But individually the youth has focus and for some this focus is in the virtual world. In itself this is neither good nor wrong. It is just different than in former times, because in former times this was just no option.
And killing people and violence had quite good PR throughout most of human history. The main difference is that often enough there was a real target for that violence. Kill the neighbour tribe, kill the other gladiator, kill the infidels, kill the nazis etc.
But we do not have such dubious "luxury". By default we do not know how a given youth focusses this need to prove himself. So, in a certain way, a youth that finds proving himself in the virtual world satisfactory is a youth that does not need to prove his superiority by mobbing or otherwise violating others in the real world and, in return, provoke another youth's potentially more violent reaction.
Some of those who suffer under abuse again choose the virtual world to let off some steam, to vent their agression. Sometimes this is enough, other times it is not. You will find violent video games in both their homes, but for reasons of simplilcity some people choose to ignore the great majority of the former cases and deduct from the latter that computer games are the problem. Nothing could be further from the truth.
