Now, any chance that the Conserve Power in Energy Aura could get swapped out with something simillar?
Who knows, maybe it is, to get it ready for the next proliferation, and just didn't get noticed.

There have also been two accounts that I can remember where the cottage rule was broken, MoG and Gravity Controllers team teleport.
MoG does not violate the cottage rule. The basic function of the power: absurd defense/resist to all but psi; high endurance recovery; strong status protection has never left the power.

We're only arguing about the details.

Likewise, Energize is still apparently an endurance discount power. I can't wait until open beta to try it out.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

Clearly the cottage can become a cabin or a chalet. It's just unlikely to become a mini-golf.

Agreed. Breaking the "cottage rule" is something like making Whirling Sword into a team +speed buff that deals no damage. It's a radical departure from the original spec of the power.

Messing with the recharge/duration/magnitude of a power is typically considered a buff or nerf, depending on how the stats change.

In the context of the origin of the term, I think having Build Up produce a mini-gold would be kind of sweet.

No, this cannot be allowed to happen because the team's stalker will invariably start arguing that the hole needs to be located somewhere unmentionable when the power is used on Carnie Missions.

Definately going to play this. I was bemoaning just before the announcement that I couldn't roll a BS/elec. As for having too many good powers, I just had that difficulty with my BS/SD

Yeah, I have been toying with the idea of a Spines/ELA scrapper since they announced the proliferations. This would make it easy for me go ahead with that plan.

Tanks have a similar problem as Scrappers, in that there's a lot of overkill in the Energy Resist department (120% Energy Resist on a Tank? Sheesh...). I'm highly considering not taking Grounded (Negative Energy isn't that big a deal anyway) in both cases and shoring up the Immob/KB with Combat Jumping and some IOs. I'll miss out on some End Drain resist, but there's still plenty of it in Static Shield (over 100%).

Bah. I was set on safely ignoring Electric Armor with my previous experience on my level 50 Elec/Elec/Elec Brute. Now I have to decide what I want to play first, Electric Melee/Shield Defense or Electric Melee/Electric Armor. Fooey.

I just can't see why everyone is so happy with electric armor. Even with the buff leaked from closed beta, it seems like one of the worst sets for me when it comes to... well, survival. It seems like the average resist set with endurance tool instead of health tool, the stupid tier 9 with a huge crash, and nothing really special about it.

When looking at numbers, i just can't picture how to make something even slightly survivable with it unless going full on the defense bonus with sets. It seems to compete with fire in the less survivable league but without the damage. Even energy aura seems very good compared to Ela.

So anyone could enlighten me on why electric armor is so awesome ?

While I have found Electric Armor to be a terrible set for the ITF (which is my own personal testing ground for melee...I just love the ITF..probably my favorite TF)...

...for the rest of the game, I think the heal might actually pull it through. I grabbed Tough/Weave, and found alot of /ELA's survival come at lvl 36, when I could have Power Sink slotted a bit, could run in, drain everything.

I just had to survive the alpha.

Solo, I never found /ELA all that bad. Still, it didn't pass my own survival test...but with the heal added in, it just might. At least it'll handle the alpha better than it did before with the heal

Leaked buff? Can anyone care to enlighten me? Or, alternatively, point me at the information?

I feel your pain. I have my own /ela horror stories. This changes everything.

The main problem I and others had with /ela was that it was pure res. Even though the numbers are higher then the ave res set. Short of draining all end from attackers, you didn't have any other type of protection. The new power has a heal and gives 100% regen buff for 30 seconds. That alone will add to survival. Add that with some recharge (ok, a lot of recharge), some def (say about 20 to 30%), and maybe some regen bonuses. That will raise the survival a great deal.

Check out the brute's version of this topic. The main thing said is about getting to drop the medic pool and making an intesive recharge build. Lightning reflexes is going to help in that goal.

...d'oh! I thought this was the older Electric Armor topic, since when I clicked "Go to latest" it didn't take me to post 1. For some reason these forums are marking unread topics as read for me on occasion, which, as you just saw, is causing me some issues. Now to go back and read this topic...

Hmm maybe. I just have a hard time picturing any kind of decent survivability when i compare to Dark armor, where i have to bring back my hp from almost 0 to full every 9sec while having only 10 or 20% less resists against most damage types, the auras, some defense, etc... Enhanced and with a full recharge build, the new elec heal might be 50% health and some regen every 30sec or something like that. And dark armor already feels squishy.

Maybe enough for a tank but unless going for tons of +def (and then forgeting about recharge) it doesn't seem nearly enough for anything that hits a lot (thinking cimerora as well... that's usually my test run for melee survivability: one groupe on the wall = decent, two groups = good).

Now i admit i don't really take into account the end drain. Can /ElA reliably drain to 0 endurance the mobs and keep them here so they can't attack ? That seems odd, and usually the drained mobs tend to run everywhere, don't they ? A sapper build would be interesting if the mobs don't run away as soon as they're drained.
