It's kinda buggy I believe. I had some issues as well but after about 10 tries it finally went thru. The spot where you need to paste the direct link from photobucket already has the "http//www." in there, so make sure you delete that before pasting the address to your image.
Other than that, all I can tell you is to try it again and again. Eventually it will likely just go thru like it did for me. Good luck.

The original link to my avatar that Photobucket provided was http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...g?t=1249167630 . I couldn't get the foums to recognize it to save my life. Then I accidentally copied the link without that last string of numbers-- the link came out as http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07.../ARHavatar.jpg . That worked! I saved it, and have since changed my avatar again without any problems.
I also could not get my signature image to display at all, despite following all the specified guidelines. What worked there was the same trimming of the URL, and placing the URL in my text signature with [img] [/img] tags.

Photobucket gives you 4 links, you want to make sure that you use the 'Direct Link' and sometimes it doesn't copy properly when you click on. I usually ctrl+c when it's highlighted, the ctrl+v to paste it where I want it.
As was stated before, make sure you don't have the 'http://www.' in there twice.

I used photobucket for mine (tho mine is still the 80x80 from the old board restrictions) and had no problems at all. Even inculded the http:// part. I copy and pasted the direct link, put it in the correct field and viola.

Could be that link is too long...it's mighty long. You might try renaming the file to something shorter, re-upload and try again.
You could also use TinyUrl to shorten the link.
