MA Farm

None of you gets inconvenienced by other people farming, so why the heck should you care about it? Because people are asking for teams in Atlas? Whoop-de-doo. How HORRIBLE that must be for you guys. Instead of a mostly empty zone, there are actually PPL there! Oh noes!

[/ QUOTE ]

Simply put: I don't want to farm. I think it's dull. If I wanted to farm, I'd buy a tractor. The insane prevalence of farm teams in Atlas Park right now means that it is damn near impossible to get a mishing team of lowbies together.

The fact that there are people in Atlas Park means pretty much naff-all, since the vast majority of them are farmers or PLers, and they have no interest in me as a team member, because I'm all about the story. How does having all of these farmers/PLers in the zone advantage me?

And, as has been said before, it gives a truly awful first impression of the game to new players.

As far as farming and PLing are concerned, I'm willing to live and let live, but not at the expense of a new player learning the game and learning to love the game.

Dinging 50 has no value at all anymore.

[/ QUOTE ]
Don't farm and that 50 ding means as much as it used to.

Ok - the lessening of debt, patrol xp, a smoothed xp curve etc may mean it doesn't mean quite as much as it used to.. but it's certainly not devalued as you say if you play the game rather than take the PL-express to 50.

[/ QUOTE ]

I dont agree on your oppinion that it still means as much as it used to to ding 50. I just cant stop myself from thinking when looking at a lvl 50 now "Did he/she take the long or short road. And does he/she think the same of me, while looking at my lvl 50"

You can say that it doesnt matter what other people think, which is prolly true. But you cant deny that the game has changed.

Also, they shouldnt remove the AE buildings, they should burn them down and leave the charred remains as a reminder on what not to do in mmo's

because I'm all about the story. How does having all of these farmers/PLers in the zone advantage me? The story doesn't change after the 1st time you do it, tbh i hate pve, why do you want to run around a small map looking for a glowie that no one can find the way to for a miniscule amount of xp.

I am against all the farming spam in Atlas, it really creates a bad first impression of the game.

[/ QUOTE ]

Indeed, its not very pleasent, i to would like to see the spam moved to another non newbie area.

Boomtown might be the best area, no one goes there, it will fill the zone up, bring some live into it

I farm but I don't directly go up to your face and go "Join mah pharm plox." In fact, I try to be as discreet as possible, since at the moment it's like a lynch mob nowadays if I ask politely.

The only way I affect you, and this is indirectly, is that I plough 'IS' into the BM. Currently I have over 300+ 'IS' going into the BM, and I have deliberately reduced prices on select 'IS' so without tooting my horn, saying that farming increases prices in general is moronic and unverified. It has increased select valuables, but a lot more is in fact in a reduced value state.

I say again and again, the only thing I detesté is the fact I see zero vet levels asking to join the farm team and I never allow <9months to join. That's just my modus operandi. The funny thing is how farming was never a problem to any of you "whiners" is because it was in "PI" or "Grandville" out of your way, and now it is agreeable detrimental in place in 'Atlas' and other 'Lowbie zones' it is far more exposed to lower levels, in which I DO agree is not acceptable.

However, if your going to 'attack' farming, at least back it up or make a good point. So far I only agree that 'MA farming' in 'lowbie zones' is really really bad. Otherwise, I'll continue to farm if I want, tis my money not yours.

You might be tired of the PvE game. That's fine.

But give newbies the same chance to experience it by removing the Spam from Atlas. I don't care if you spend 20 hours a day farming, do it somewhere removed from the starting zone as all it gives is a really bad impression to new people.

I don't claim that all 50 dings mean as much as they used to. I said: "Don't farm and that 50 ding means as much as it used to."

i.e. If you do not farm then getting to 50 is as important and as great an achievement as it ever was.

You can look at other 50s and wonder. But if they didn't farm and did things the old-school way then they should hopefully get as much satisfaction from reaching 50 as any of us ever did.

[ QUOTE ]

You can say that it doesnt matter what other people think, which is prolly true. But you cant deny that the game has changed.

[/ QUOTE ]
So what? Best bet is to judge people on how they team and how they play.

Are they fun to play/team with, do they play reasonably well? Good - I don't really give a damn how long they took getting to 50 or even if they don't have any 50s and only started playing yesterday.

Or are they the type that never speaks except to order others about on the authority granted by their 20 lvl50s that they boast about? Or do they keep causing team wipes and adopting a I'm-all-right-Jack attitude? Kick them or leave the team.

Length of time to 50 and length of time playing don't really come into it. The game, whilst teamed is still the same, but there's now an odd sidegame of xp-as-fast-as-possible farming.

So this isn't a HATEFARM thread, this is an Anti Spam thread, if I farm for any part of the day it will go un noticed to anyone in atlas.

Please can we define the problem here.

The rewards system is no longer a rewards system. Its guaranteed success if you know what you are doing.
Tickets have made merits obsolete.
People powerlevel to 50 in one day without learning the toon. Correction more people powerlevel to 50 without learning the toon.
Seriously tried some of these comm farms with a pvp toon i´m planning/leveling and it felt meh going from 2-26 in an hour or so.
I currently also have 40 million on that toon.
Too easy.

Tried to play some of my hero lowbies a bit but noone is interested in regular teaming. And i have no intention of soloing an invul/ice.

So... you want me to join your team, run round the map, complete all objectives, then quit the team because I've finished that part of the story? How does that help either of us? Oh, and I'm a level 50 Eng/Eng blaster, happy to exemp all the way down if it means I get a fun team.

Don't attempt to enforce your idea of what a fun game makes on me, or indeed on anyone else. I'm not pushy, I don't stand in a zone screaming on Broadcast asking for people to fill my team, I don't blind invite people, I don't pressure anyone into doing anything they don't actively want to do, and I expect the same courtesy from others.

I'm happy reading the plots - whether those of the original game, or those that people have created in MA - and the killing of endless boring mobs to squeeze a miniscule amount more XP out of them is, to me a complete and utter waste of the rich and varied storylines that have been written for this game. Each to their own.

This thread is not and never really has been anti-farming. I'm against PLing newbies and I'm against giving newbies the impression that this game is all about farming.

Of course. Why didn't I think of that. I was just standing in Atlas mute waiting for the team to come to me...

Oh no wait, that's exactly what I do all the time. It doesn't help at the mo I'm afraid. All you get is Farms in Atlas.

At higher levels it does work a bit better, I assume because if someone sees you with an LFT in Sharkshead or Talos they know you're probably currently playing / looking for Missions.

One thing that might help is making the global channels a bit clearer - I'm a 36 month vet and it took me two bloomin' weeks to find the Mission Architect channel, which it seems I should've been using all along to find MA content (as opposed to farming) teams.

That still isn't massively useful for complete newbies, but tweaking the 'Defiant Channels' sticky might be helpful nonetheless.

Again, I have nothing against farmers. More power to them. But they're damaging the experience that new players get from the game by spamming in Atlas Park. Remove the farmers, the spam ends. Problem solved. So, while this is not directed at farming directly it is farmers who are causing the problem.

Pot / Kettle ?

[/ QUOTE ]

Not in the slightest. If I was trying to enforce my ideas of a fun game on people, I would insist that they do nothing but run through story arcs, ekeing out every last vestige of story from the game.

As it is, all I want is for new players to have a chance to not be inundated with farming spam, and for them to have a chance experience the rest of the game, too.
