Where the hell have Prisoners gone?

I spend parts of the last 2 weeks planning a 2-arc series and just about to publish before todays unexpected downtime.

Log back in after the overlong downtime to find that I can't publish as the Prisoners group seem to have vanished.

Doubleyou tee eff.

Bug or have they taken to unscheduled downtime for half the afternoon just to whip out assets because somewhere 1 person did a farm with them.

So not impressed. If it is exploit then this is why you keep things in beta til you're happy with them. CAn't decide if it's better if they're removed in error.

Anyway - in lieu of patch notes I'll just have to assume that my arc has been effed by the devs before it was published. Anyone else missing stuff that makes them as happy as I am?

Prisoners? But they give less XP than normal enemies since years ago (when they were used for farming).

That makes no sense.

Stories don't have to make sense, they don't have to give xp either. Some of us are in it for the body count

I know - funnily enough I wasn't farming them but they make a darn fine group when using the Zig map for a prison riot...

And no, before someone shouts up that I can make my own: I missed the bit where the devs increased the arc size so that I could try cobbling together the equivalent of an existing villain group just so I could use it at the same level range as the existing group that they saw fit to remove.


Yes - I'm pretty pee'd off - I have spent well over 20+ hrs on each of the two arcs I was about to publish. Losing the prisoners makes one arc pretty bloody pointless. I wouldn't have even started if the devs had expressed a wish to bugger us all about like this.

I too, was planning on using Prisoners - I'd love to know the reason why they were removed. I'm guessing exploit again and the scorched earth removal method is easier than actually trying to fix the problem.

And leaving exploits in is easier than removing them.

And doing nothing except laughing that suckers are paying for this is easier than doing anything.



Hell - at least tell us what you do in patches and maybe why. But maybe Posi was too busy writing his didn't we do well post to bother telling us how they're buggering up our arcs...

I'm really not impressed with the way the devs seem to think it's acceptable for long, unscheduled maintenance that removes pretty harmless storytelling assets and doesn't even have patch notes.

ANd the funny thing is: if it's done to stop some sort of farming/exploit all the farmers will do is move onto the next cheap-hit/exploit... it won't stop that, but it will stop peoiple using them for creative purposes.

Stupid bloody 'solution'.

What? They're gone! That's just fine and dandy...Prisoners are in one of my published arcs!

EDIT: I've had to replace the Prisoners with 5th Column...*looks at Posi very angrily*.

Anybody know what their ticket drops were like? If they were the same as normal then it could be seen as an exploit. Hopefully they'll just lower the rewards for them quickly since they are a good "background" group.

Okay, I'm pretty ticked off too: I've had late nights almost this whole week crafting my "Who Clocks the Clockmen?" arc, and similar to JD, I've completely used almost every available bit of memory to craft my work...

They're doing both - they've siad they're removing exploits when they find them, with the intention of fixing them and adding them back in later.

So that's what the patch today did.

Stopped my published arc that was happily using Prisoner Lts/bosses for a single mission in the Zig from working anymore.

Well done devs.

I had good reviews on that story so far, for the story... Was pretty pleased after putting well over 20 hrs into developing it. But because some numbskull idiot thought of some minor exploit with them you decided the only way to deal with the issue was to remove them... and then, in todays patch, stop any existing arcs that were using them.

Is this some sort of ploy to stop any PCC arcs showing a bit more inventiveness than the stories that you come up with? Remove anything that they may use whilst telling a half-decent story?

And the claims of trying to change removed assets and get them back in the MA soon really do ring on deaf ears... Has anything made it back in since I14 hit live? Do the devs even care about this, given that it's bound to be low priority below fixing crashing errors and removing anything that anyone could ever use to farm...

You know what - remove one mob or map or object or whatever and the farmers don't give a damn - they move on to the next easiest target.

You see where this is going yet?


You neuter a great resource for the general playing population just because you cannot think of a better way to deal with the problem than using the developers A-bomb and nuking the assets out of existence.

Doesn't this mean your game is being dictated/ruined by those doing the exploits... heck - maybe the devs are being out-thought by kids who can't add 1+1 and get the right answer, but know a free meal when they see one... And the devs can't react without the nuke.

I'd be quite ashamed of that.

Still - what does it matter? The devs will never know I'm pee'd off given that I'm situated on the wrong side of the pond for them to give a rat's...

Glad you mentioned that Col - else I wouldn't have bothered popping ingame to check...

It looks like this patch removed Prisoner mobs that had been allowed to exist in custom mobs before this patch have been removed, but the Prisoner group (containing just the 'random' mobs) has been returned to the MA editor.

Why didn't this get mentioned in the patch notes?

Only a few days ago the removal of the Prisoner group was deemed important enough that it made the patch notes, so why wasn't the return of the group given similar treatment?

It really does no favours to put things back or solve problems and then not tell anyone that they've been addressed...
