Make Shards zone and TFs Hero/Villain co-op
Obvious answer is... /signed
First: Welcome to the forum!
I have mixed feelings about this. I would like to be able to have more tf's for villains and co-op tf seems to be the best bet. However as it is right now I don't see heroes and villains working together in there.
To unite heroes and villain you need something that threatens them both. RWZ and Ourabouros are examples of why a villain would be willing to be a hero.
Another problem is that the tf uses normal CoH city zones. They should be altered. So it won't be as easy as it looks.
But the Shadow Shards has a split-personality demi-god trying to break free from it's aeon-long confines. Surely that counts as big enough to force Heroes and Villains to team together
You're right about the TFs, some of them would need to be rejigged / fixed.
I'd like for the Shadow Shards to be co-op. Actually to be honest I'd much prefer a 20-35 co-op zone instead (again I nominate Dark Astoria. Stick a TF & storyline about Something That Should Not Be being awoken). But some people despise them. I quite like them, but I'm coming from a gameplay PoV where more teaming opportunities is better.
Sure it can be done but it will require some work to do so. Including the background story of the shards. Because when i play a villain I should not be a hero who occasionally robs a bank.
Ps. I to would be much interested in DA as co-op zone.

Yeah, i can see that. I just thought the shards was a good pick because i see it as the one of the biggest failures in terms of player-participation when it comes to added content. I remember when the zone was first introduced and looking at it from that far back, and when compared to all the other additions, it stands out. People still do respecs, people run Katie TFs, Sewer runs, Lady Greys, ive even seen more Hess and Moonfire runs than SSTFs for god sake!
Without a complete overhall like they did with faultine or hollows (prefer old hollows tbh, taught people how to play), i dont see the shards getting much love - unless its turned co-op, essentially double the possibility of people being bothered with it.

I agree totally. I was talking about the Shards being turning into co-op zones the other day and a lot of people seemed to like the idea. The Devs just need to notice.
I expect it is already planned.
But like any game change it's not something that can be done by flicking a switch.
I really should do something about this signature.
Slightly off-topic @ Spades; Since when was Ouro co-op? Oo
Even Cimerora is slightly ? when it comes to being co-op. I mean, sure *Them* getting a base is far from good...I dunno, maybe I just cant take someone serious who ends up purple XD

GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

I agree with this. It should be simple and easy, and Rularuu is/are threatening to all humanity as with the Rikti, so story-wise it fits, too.

It is THE most beautiful and coziest zone ingame(-the red floods... pun intended).
And villains... They are only bad because they only get a couple of missions there.
Give them some more time there and theirs hearts will warm up.
ps. Don't touch the strawberries in the shards... They can and will bite back.
The other obvious point is that in some cases a villain could just be a hero who likes to get a lil somthing on the side... kind of like a mercenary... so shouldn't be to hard to see more avenues for co-ops ;o)
and on this topic i fully agree... /signed
In line with Rommy & Hroza'Droza, I think it's in everyone's best interest to stop Rularuu breaking free, regardless of which side of the line you walk

But those few villain missions are much more fun than any of the hero missions in the SS.
At the moment the shadow shard is usually completly empty, it looks very pretty, but there is nothing interesting to do there.

Aww come on Praffy. Don't be a sourpuss.
Touch the strawberries... Take a sip of red water... Run in the open plains... Dodging a fake nemesis or two...
But yeah. Gigantic zone with little use... And they keep adding new zones.

This is exactly my point. Shards has been around for what, 4 years solid now and hasnt been looked into? Even tho its been largely empty since 2005? I really dont see the point of having a high level zone, with mobs designed specifically to challenge level 50 characters that is sitting empty all the time. Its a waste. When you also factor in that villains could well do with somewhere extra to explore and more TFs - the simple solution is co-op the place and see if that brings players into interacting with the content again (or for the first time).
The amount of players who have level 50 heroes and have never stopped foot inside the chantry should be a concern to the devs. If shards were removed as a zone id guess 90% of the playerbase wouldnt even notice.
Shadow Shard was a rush job when they upped the level cap to 50 back in issue 2.
It has been on the long list for a makeover for about 4 years (along with Boomtown), but the staff cuts after issue 6 flopped pushed it a long way down the to do list.
It probably will get its makeover sometime soon, and that will mean it will go co op as well, because making large amounts of faction specific content is no longer considered cost effective.
Simply letting villains in without giving the zone a makover would just give villains a chance to pop in, find out how dull it is, and leave. The merit changes in issue 14 should mean there is less incentive to farm long boring TFs.
Oh, and there have been no completly new full size zones added since issue 7, 3 years ago.

My account was created around the time of issue 2 launch (date on my US sub is Sep 1 2004), so ive seen alot of new zones...
(and a complete revamp of a zone like fault, hollows, RWZ et al might as well be a new zone anyway)
Then you will be aware that the last full size PvE zone added to the game was Granville. Yes, there where a lot of zones added before that, but only revamps and mini-zones since. And what was done in the Hollows wasn't a revamp, ath they did was change the mob spawns and a add a first ade post. No new geometry, or new missions, appart from basic repeateble stuff.
I really should do something about this signature.
What relevance does a debate the semantics of mini-zones, revamps as opposed to full-sized zones have when we are talking about the possibility of making Shards co-op? It seems all you are doing here is derailing the thread.
Either you think co-op shards is a good idea, or you dont. Attempting to preach the gospel and history of 'revamps', 'full-sized new zones' and 'mini-revamps' is a waste of time and effort.
I think weather or not is a good idea is irelevent. It's going to happen.

I think so too
The Shadow Shards are huge zones, which all look very cool, and have so many possibilities to build them up into great new areas - and the Rularuu threat makes them perfect for co-op zones, with enough flexibility to have Hero-only and Villain-only missions like Cimerora, as well as the co-op content and TFs.

Whoops. Should be Cim of cause.
And I agree that the co-opness in Cim is less strong then in RWZ
Depends how you define full size.
Monkey Island and Cimerora are as large as several of the heroside zones - Atlas, Kings Row, Galaxy, TV.
The Abyss is larger - comparable to Steel, Skyway, and most villain zones.
Bah replying to last post on one page isn't always a good idea.
tbh the issue of the TFs could be resolved in the same manner as was done in Cim - just add in a similar set of SFs - could be done using the same maps but opposing aims if necessary. I'd prefer to see them revamped to make the TFs coop though especially if it trimmed out some of the repeat almost identical mish 4 or 5 times aspect of some of them.
It would make sense to move some of Naylor's arcs there properly if this was done.
Mind of Gaia lvl 50 Defiant's first Mind/Storm 'troller.
Deadly Doc 50 Dark/Dark Corr
and lots more on Pinnacle,Union and Defiant
I have recently returned to the game after a long break and was pleased to see many of the positive changes which have occurred in that time. One of the biggest things for me was the co-op zones and TFs for heroes and villains: Cim/ITF & RWZ/LGTF.
After getting into running SF/TFs and earning merits however a few things have hit me. Villains still have less options when it comes to taskforces. Villains have less total merits they can earn. People tend to only run the same TFs, with little attention paid to a selected few.
I dont feel these things should be ignored or accepted. An easy and quick solution, in my mind would be to open up the least participated high level zone and taskforces to both heroes and villains.
If the shards zone and the 4 TFs in there were open to both heroes and villains, it would naturally see an increase in activity and players enjoying the content which is largely ignored - the main thrust for this would be because villains have less options at high levels and would be more likely to start teams, thus bringing the heroes in.
What do people think?
