Its an xp bar you get for logging off under level 50. It gives you extra xp and protects against debt. You then have to work it off, which counts towards a badge

Specifically, it's the blue portion on your otherwise purple-and-black Experience bar.
And the extra xp is +50% and, iirc, patrol xp is built up at 1 bar per 24hrs logged off the character.

So far as I can tell you don't get debt if defeated while you have Patrol XP

The actual debt amount is debited from the Patrol XP amount, from what I've seen.

Patrol XP is basically "negative debt" so when the two meet each other they cancel each other out.
Thus when you die, your debt actually removes some of your patrol XP. If you log out with debt, your debt will be cancelled as you earn Patrol XP.

If you log off with debt, earned patrol XP will first go to paying off debt, then you start getting patrol xp.
Which means if you have a particularly bad run and get a load of debt, you could just not log in for a couple of days and it will be gone, rather than spend hours and hours working it off.
I assume its char specific.

Funny that, I just logged in again after two years and was wondering what the thousands of Patrol XP was.

If you're defeated while you still have patrol xp, does the debt that gets "payed off" count towards the debt badges?
