My Warshade thinks you're talking nonsense too. Not only does she fire blasts of dark energy she also uses their defeated corpses as bombs, End top-ups and rips pets from them.

Light is not good and dark is not evil. Light can blind people, and can even burn in high amounts. Dark can be cool, concealing, and subtle, which a lot of heroes would like to use.

Luminous Blast?

Light tends to beat Dark since Dark is the absense of Light, not vice-versa.

There's also the superfolk cliche where "Darkforce" users tend to be rather Emo characters who sulk a lot inbetween stealing souls. Usually whilst muttering something about how much of a curse their powers are, how their parents never really loved them or how all of humanity is going to pay for [insert supposed crime here].

Personally I have a Spines/DA scrapper who is something of a parody of this cliche. His backstory is essentially that he was turned into a [Superpowered Murky Human Pincushion] as a result of being cursed by [an Evil Wizard/Demon/Giant Interdimensional Magic Cauliflower] after performing the heinous crime of [picking his nose after his mother had told him not to]. The evil *******...

Meh. Even if a light burns out, the Darkness is only Dark until another Light comes along. You can't add more Darkness to banish the Light, but you CAN add more Light to banish the Darkness...

Admittedly the whole idea works even better if you set fire to whatever idiot keeps turning the lightswitch off.

Guilds just like the whole "darkness/twilight = mysterious" cliche because it makes them feel more aloof and/or badass than, say, if they all just ran about with fake suntans and Dayglo orange tshirts (which would actually be much better evidence of them being REALLY evil).

Number 113 on the Evil Overlord List: I will dress in bright, cheery colours to confuse my enemies.

There was a quote on one of my old Magic cards that read "Light dispells darkness but in doing so creates shadows". I always liked that.

Someone on these boards also has a rather groovy one in their sig that says something like: "Light thinks it's the fastest thing in the universe but wherever it goes, it always finds that darkness has got there first." But I digress.

A light blast set might be fun but I'd want it to have a better effect than Luminous Blast. Maybe rather than -acc in Dark Blast, it could have +acc by illuminating the area? Meh, just an idea. Not sure if I'd play it but it's a nice concept thing.

Arguably Lumionous Blast does that already, with the majority of -Def effects.

Coincidentally it seems not too difficult to scramble together a Darkness Manipulation secondary to go with it, what with the ample amount of Dark powers of varying types and purposes in the game.

yea i was surprised we got psi blast with power diversification was sure we were going to see dark blast and dark manipulation.

A dark/dark controller seems very unlickely to me because of the amount of controll powers already present in Dark Miasma.
It seems more logical to me that if they make a dark control set (and I really hope they do!) that they would take all the control powers from the dark blast and dark miasma set (maybe adjusting the numbes a bit to controller levels) and then fill in the blanks. Something like this:

1. single target immob (with the dark tentacles animation)
2. petrifying gaze
3. tenebrous tentacles
4. torrent
5. tar patch
6. dark pit
7. fearsome stare
8. cloak of fear
9. dark servant (with the same duration as other controller pets)

A bit more OT: concerning the dark blast set for blasters; take out dark pit and add dark obliteration in its stead and replace life drain with an aim power of sorts

I would leave the dark servent in dark missima as its far more of a debuff/buff entity than a damage or even hold entity.

Instead either use the existing shadow imps (boring but simple option) or create a new entity a large shadow beast creature kinda like a more sold version of the warshade dwarf solid black dark blue in color with a dark smoking aura.

in fact instead of the dwarf face/head replace it with a skullish visage (complete with glowing/flaming blueish eyes) and give it some gaze of fear power as one of its powers

Plus, Elec and AR already get tons of flak for lacking a third single target blast.

That would pretty much guarantee I'd never play it. Let other sets have AoE attacks and Aim. Keep Dark Blast unique!

The way it is now it would be pants as a blaster primary though. The damage output is just not up to scratch.

Seems to work fine as it is for a Corruptor primary. The damage would scale with AT, giving Blasters a better damage output with a bit of utility.
