60 month reward, travel powers at level 6
This is why you can't pick VRs from a pool. Everyone would take this at 3 months.
I really should do something about this signature.
I think this reward comes too late on. It gives veteran players a somewhat unfair advantage over the newer guys. Not with the travel powers early, as there are other means of travel early on. But with not having to pick one of the first two powers.
There are a lot of people who will never hope to see such an advantage (Unless ofc characters and Rewards can be carried over to COH2... Please!)
I think it should be made so you can pick up the travel power at lvl 8 and still have to pick from the frist two powers in the pool.
But I suppose you may as well just stick with the jetpack then...
Oh I don't know, do what you like, I probably wont see 5 years anyway.

Anyway, highly shiny bit of news there. Also, note the other new bits of news - one bonus free toon slot per year could now be on the cards...
[/ QUOTE ]
You get that anyway. A few months ago they gave me 3 slots for my three years plus another 2 slots because i was a paying customer at the time. I get another shiny slot in april

Yes, but if I read the Vet reward correctly, when you get the 60-month badge, they give you ANOTHER 5 for free, on the spot.

Think it's just 1 character slot and 5 merits?
i think you get 2 slot but it depends on how you read it though as the way i read it u get one for every year and you get +1 with this 60m one

Correct. From the link...

(1) Additional Character Slot: This reward is granted annually to each player that has been part of our Veteran Rewards Program. Months: 12, 24, 36, 48, 60 should all reflect this value.
5 Merit Rewards

1 slot and 5 merits. Not 5 slots. Shadowe is no longer wise.

Hey, I shoved a caveat in there about reading the notes correctly!
Anyway, to the best of my knowledge the bonus character slots have never previously been considered part of the Vet Reward program, since they are a bonus to the account, not the character. I put 2 & 2 together and got 10, because I was adding up in base four.

I hate to rain on everyones parade about dropping a power, but whilst it sayss that the travel powers open up at level 6..
As it stands the descriptions still state that eg. for fly you must allready posess hover or air superiority.
There is a pretty decent (IMO, extremely likely, for balance reasons) probabiity this will continue.
Nope, thats not what it said:

I.e. 1 slot at 12, 1 at 24 , 1 at 36, 1 at 48 and 1 at 60.

That's what I was thinking too, this just means you can get the actual travel power at level 8.
Doesn't seem that amazing to me to be honest. It's not like it takes years to get from level 8 to level 14 and you can get the Raptor pack at level 5 anyway to fill the gap.

Bit more from Positron...

Actually, it means you can SKIP taking the first or second power in the Travel Power Pools and, at level 6, pick the travel power immediately. No pre-requisites.

[/ QUOTE ]
Posi himself confirms, no more prerequisites for tier 3 travel pool powers.

Heh, didnt see that. Hardly raining on my parade tho,is it?
Seems good. A bit too good it you ask me, gives too much of an advantage.
Personally I'd like them to reconsider that one, but the devs seem stuck on the road to hell; i.e. feed the players what they want.

Oooh, slightly more interesting so. It'd be fairly useful to some of my flyers and TPers in that form alright, freeing up a power choice.

Apparently the 63 month vet award is the ability to read the existing posts in a thread before repeating something that's already been shown to be wrong... Will probably be of greater use in the US boards and really ought to be a 1 month vet award, but past that I can't wait for it to become common.

Hold on, is that no more prerequisites for everyone, or just 60 month vets?

I actually don't see a problem with this considering that you can get the jetpack from level 6 anyway.

Just 60 month vets I think.
It's not that much of an advantage now it is so easy to have permamant temproray travel powers from level 5.

Indeed! Some might argue that this goes against the vein of vet powers, which are to give you something nice, but that doesn't give you an advantage in the game. Well, I suppose this IS true BUT, I feel that a 5 year milestone is DESERVING of something that gives you an advantage, even if it's small, and I don't see that one exception to this rule will set any precedents either.

Because evertyone would whine that all the other VRs where not up to scratch.

Interesting, although NorCal do seem to be bending the rule-set they gave themselves over the Veteran awards/Micro-transaction packs which was that they would not give anyone a competitive edge.
Sands of Mu gives a competative edge.

wow, that's an awesome vet reward...
