I'm thinking of running the following event.

Would people be interested?
Are there any holes in it?

All Characters must start in Atlas Park Under the statue of Altas and be level 1 and cannot have any of the badges listed below.

The winner is the first Character to return to me Under the statue of Altas with the following badges.

Kill Skuls – Defeat 500 Skulls
Hellspawned – Defeat 50 Damned
Bonecrusher – Defeat 100 Bone Daddys

Exploration Badges
Terratorial
Avatar
Around the Bendis
Doc Whedon
Justice Avenger

Thing is, as soon as they're out of sight, some will jump on a team of 7 level 50's, and have those badges in next to no time...

I suppose there could be a no teaming rule. If I made every contestant a golbal friend I could make sure they stayed Solo.

Edit: Can trial accounts have global friends?

Isnt there a min of lvl 6 to get into perez?

seems like a long wait for you if you are waiting for the winner to return with all those badges

Looking at the videomaps it's minimum level 7, trouble is at level 5 you can go to the Hollows and there seems masses of bone daddies there. Maybe this Idea wont work. Oh well back to the drawing board.

Would have been a nice idea with just the Explore Badges tbh, as trying to defeat the Bone Daddys and Damned at level 6 would just be hell let alone trying to get the Kill Skulls badge, be looking at a good few hours at that level hehe.

yeah I think you'd be up all night

Good idea in theory but...

You could fix that by having everyone form teams, with the team leaders not taking part, but simply being there to make sure no one was trying to cheat.

Alas everyone on a teams arrests go to the whole team, thus they'd need to be solo.

Also, someone could have 499 skuls and not be showing the badge, prior to your event.

i.e. they turn off xp, sk to a 50 and carefully get their numbers up to 1 or 2 below the badge requirement.

Very quick to get that last kill then for the badge.

You would need to do events with digital ( on or off ) badges such as exploration, kill specific gm etc.

Exploration can still be cheated on by getting SB's and inertial reduction from a handy non-teamed 50.

Sorry

I was trtying to avoid that by starting at lvl 1 thinking that would stop them getting skulls, in my head I remembered they are in Perez and the Hollows both Hazard zones. However you're right they could go with a 50 to kings and get the skulls. I'll keep on thinking.

Just glad I thought to ask BEFORE setting it up

Ok easy solution for that. Let them start in outbreak. And make them do that badge first.

easy, have friends of YOURS team with each member, and verify that they have killed the total number required, and been to the appropriate locations within the rules. Plus a log of the combat window will show how many have been killed and the help window will show that they didn't have external help.

Despite not knowing you I would volunteer for this duty if you want.

Lol !!

So, assuming only 10 people enter, you still have to arrange 10 'mentors' who will verify that they have killed 500/40/10 of whatever, by manually checking their combat logs ??

You may be up for doing that, I can't imagine many others who would.

Outbreak isn't a bad idea though. You can't get SK'd, it's a closed loop and you could do the infected badge.

Still got a problem with people racking up 50 infected, then relogging.

Also, those with vet reward powers will obviously have an advantage.

Good point, the vet awards are a huge advantage at the low levels, I know they are end heavy, but I dont think that balances it.

I know if we had enough mentors they could make sure people didn't use vet powers or the other possible cheats that have been discussed, BUT would anyone really want to hang about watching someone else have fun for hours on end, I wouldn't.

Overall I think anything invovling defeat badges is a bad idea.

why not a sewer death race from atlas to boomtown?

Posted

Good idea.

Only issue I can see is ensuring people go through the sewer, but a team of 7 competitors with 1 offical should allow the offical to make sure people stay underground.

Should the offical be low level (allowing leveling) or high level disallowing it though?

Any holes in this? Any interest in it?

Not sure that a sewer death race could work so well.

Death races tend to rely upon player skill and judgement to try skirting mobs aggro ranges - as due to the level difference they can be 1/2 shotted with ease. You can't really avoid mobs or stay out of aggro range when going through the sewers.

Only way to really do it in the sewers would be as a team event, with defeats and levelling playing their part in giving the competitors a fighting chance.

Either way - what to do about deaths? As there's no hospital in the sewers do you let people hosp back to Atlas or does the 8th member (race official) have to rez them?

And as an aside: I think it's also been the case that previous death races have been community events - and some people do turn up just to watch... spectators will have a hard time seeing anything without getting in the way in the sewers. Much easier to watch in an open space.
