Swift Justice?
There's a lot of this sort of leap of logic in the earlier written hero arcs - I tend not to let it bother me, and just accept that the contacts have sources of information that my character doesn't.
The wisdom of Shadowe: Ghostraptor: The Shadowe is wise ...; FFM: Shadowe is no longer wise. ; Techbot_Alpha: Also, what Shadowe said. It seems he is still somewhat wise ; Bull Throttle: Shadowe was unwise in this instance...; Rock_Powerfist: in this instance Shadowe is wise.; Techbot_Alpha: Shadowe is very wise *nods*; Zortel: *Quotable line about Shadowe being wise goes here.*
Perhaps. In older arcs, they do make 'jumps' that you have to assume are based on 'off-screen' scenes. You're just the delivery boy, the muscle, and the willing butt-monkey.
I'm glad Faultline contacts are nicer to you. Not like that evil Janet Crey-Kellum woman.

It's all a nemesis plot.
But seriously if the PPD are anything to go by your probably best figuring it out on your own.

As countess Crey is still running around. I guess the judge wasn't impressed with the evidence either.
Its one thing to arrest somebody. Its something else to make that arrest stick.
Maybe you didn't arrest Countess Crey. Maybe you arrest someone POSING as Countess Crey, because the REAL Countess Crey was missing, and therefore the imposter KILLED THEM.
That seems to make sense. Well, Kellum-sense.
She's my new most-hated contact.

Who had the honor of being the most hated contact earlier then?
Borea.
I don't like her attitude.

Never come to CoV then. That attitude is very common over there. To bad you can't unleash your wrath on them.
Oh so true once you finish with a contacts arc there should be a "unleash wrath" option villains side.
Something like
"Contact X has served there purpose now remind them who holds the true power in your relation ship"
You then proceed to do a mission and beat them senseless.
Sure it's a bit simplistic but I think you've got to suspend disbelief otherwise this becomes "City of Criminal Investigations" and "City of Forensic Analysts" - which isn't the game I subscribed to.
If you try any work of fiction there are lots of plot-holes if you look. I think in a case like this it's wise to assume that you've been to speak to your contact, they've gone and some some very good research and are trusted enough to have gotten the correct answer, but are giving you the precis otherwise every mission would turn into a novel.

Early CoH arcs were written with the contact as the narrator, telling you where to go and who to beat up next. Plot twists were always shown this way. By CoV time, contacts were just as much a part of the story as you. Seer Marino will always stick in my mind as the contact that showed me how you break the mould. Doubly so when you play it a second time and see how wrong she is at one point, how mad with rage she was.

That kind of logic assumes that the Countess is Nemesis. Only he makes plots like that, and plainly, the Countess is not Nemesis.
...Or IS SH- No. No, no, I won't start down that path. Figuring out Nemesis plots leads to people taking me to the funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time, and I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats and they're coming to take me away, ha ha!

It just always feels awkward fighting someone in a dress. I think the countess might be my favourite AV/Hero and it always seems a shame to defeat her. Always want to encourage her some more.
She's also the only one my brute was able to solo, so there's that guilt again. If it wasn't for Verandi being such a brilliant user the Countess would be the best female in game
Edit: Sorry have been reading Max Barry lately and those two women would fit right in his books

They were appropriately appalled

They're now putting it all together.

What nonsense
And the Countess is nowhere near the best female in the game - she's a Villain, so that disqualifies her from the start

Thelonious Monk
Ok, so last night I ran a flashback story arc, almost like a mini-TF, with three other members of my Super Group. It was the Countess Crey arc ('On the run'), issued by Janet Kellum, in the level 40-45 range. I have to say, perhaps it's just how older story arcs / content were written, but it seems a bit.... plot-holey.
Let's recap. You find out that a the supposed body of a missing girl was NOT actually the body of a missing girl, but the body of someone else. You take hair from this body to Kestrel, who gets his mojo working to uncover the true identity of the dead body. You tell your contact this - a litle else, and all of a sudden:
(POSSIBLE SPOILER IF YOU'VE NOT PLAYED THE ARC ? STOP NOW IF YOU'RE WORRIED)
"I knew it! According to Kestrel's magic, that body belonged to Clarissa can Dorn. That means that Countess Crey isn't the real Clarissa. No. Countess Crey is Julianne Thompson, the girl we've been trying to find. After she found that her prison record prevented her from gaining power the honest way, Juliane killed the real Clarissa, assuming her identity, and married Count Crey under false pretenses! This is the biggest break we've ever had against the countess. We may even be able to convict her for murder!"
I'm sorry, Ms. Kellum, but you have NO evidence. Don't you watch CSI? Hell, even Numbers, for shame? Just because on dead body isn't another, does not mean that the person who SHOULD be dead, is the murderer! Hell, with Rikti mutation, Nemesis Automatons, Devouring Earth conversions and getting lost in other dimensions - how on earth can you stand there and go - MURDER!
The worst part? You believe her, and go out after Countess Crey.
So - if you ask me - Janet Kellum is Countess Crey and the whole thing is a cover up. That, or Paragon justice is horribly corrupt.
