i see one thing that makes one character have an advantage above the rest, super speed is spoiling everything.
so to my suggestion, suppress super speed in the winter place, so everyone has there own chance.

You're playing a superhero (or villain!) - some superheroes are faster than others, and they naturally have an advantage in a foot race. Just like flying heroes have an advantage at badge hunting and in the Shards - celebrate diversity!

(Besides, it's not as though any particular toon can't get superspeed if they really absolutely feel they must...)

do what i did, used the secondary build and put in SS and SJ then 6 brawl, get whirlwind and you got yourself a secondary build!

Racing against a clock is, technically, non-competitive...

Dear oh lor, I *have* seen it all...
Either get one of the kins that is hanging around to buff you silly, practice a lot more, or the other option, give up. SS might make you a bit faster, BUT it also rips apart what little control you have on the slope.

Combat Jumping is far more use than Super Speed for this one. Trust me.

Better yet: suppress all travel powers except Sprint! That'll learn them! There, playing field balanced. /sarcasm

Just because you're not terribly good at it doesn't mean others should be punished for it.

The course is differcult yes... and if you are going for gold (advanced course) it is plain impossible with sprint only... or no travelpower or boost.
To all who do the new ski slope here are the advices:
I would advice run through the course several times so you get familiar with it.

If you have superspeed great... get a Kin to give you IR (or use superjump or similar) for control.
If you do not have superspeed or superjump... ask a friendly kin for SB and IR. If you want gold... you will mostlikely need two SB's and an extra IR will help but is not neccessary.
Also... pilot day job givs extra speed, also the Good vs Evil Jump pack (will not last the entire course).
Now that your buffs are in order and you've gotten IR buff LAST.. start the course.
At the first intersection choose the left (portal), if you choose the right you loose alot of seconds and if you have buffs you have a chance of hitting the rocks on your way up.

Then its skiing down.. soon you will have another choice.. jump over a gap & bridge or go under the bridge. I usually head under.. by reducing speed just before the ridge then move under it. As IR will reduce the speed of the jump over...
Next continue, until you are at the crossing with the big snowman... choose left or right. Left will make you do a jump, the right will be a little longer then the left. Your choice. Wwith the buffs i usually continue with the right slope.
Then is the final curves until you are at the end... dont do any fancy things and make certain you enter the final marker in the middle as much as possible. (Personal experience: get to close to the far right or far left.. and it will not register... even if you where a Speeder candidate.)

Thats whats needed to become a "Speeder"
Now go out and enjoy the slopes.. with or without buffs/travelpowers

i'm good enough, but i'm balanced to, others are not.

let's put this as simple as i can, so i don't let low twits miss the point.
as long as speed buffs are allowed, the ski game is exclusive for high levels.
it's suppose to be fun for every level, so it needs to be balanced for every level.
is that to hard to understand, ir do i really need to use the sesamstreet way?

If it's not competitive it doesn't need to be balanced.

It'd be like stopping you from using a certain weapon in a single-player game because other people hadn't got it yet.

Utter garbage!!!

Got my gold with one SB from a random guy at the top and super jump, which anyone can get at level 14. Hell I'm tempted to use an alternate build to make a better runner. What is more while I also had Hurdle both it and SJ were only slotted with one level 30 IO (common jump speed IO at that).

I dare say running the course on a level one would be less powerful than say a level fifty with an all set IO build but not surprisingly less so than a level 14 with easily acquired powers at level 14. And if said level 14 didn't want to gimp their main build they can still use the alternate.

Besides who has won? If you get a top time on a throw away level 14 character racing against level 50s with all the bangs and whistles?

"High levels"?

Anyone level 14 or higher can get superspeed or superjump; as others have said they can use multibuilds to make their second build a "racer" if they don't want to change their main build at all.

Zero-G packs, simulating superjump, can be picked up by anyone level 10 or higher. Reaching level 10 takes a day or so, tops.

Anyone at any level can get a buff from a kin if there happens to be one handy.

I don't see how this is at all exclusive, even if you insist SS or SJ is absolutely essential (which they aren't).

So you can't have fun without SS or SJ? There's no enjoyment at all to be had aiming for the best time you can get using nothing but Sprint?

As far as balanced for every level goes...every level can try it, but if a level 50 who's been tweaking their build for the last 3 years found themselves on the exact same footing as a level 2 fresh out of Outbreak, people would complain about that too.

As long as everyone can enjoy themselves I don't see why Robin should find things balanced if he decided to try a footrace against Superman.

Perhaps, as I'm still not getting your point.

Hell, I even had fun going down the slope...got silver on my first try but no way I was going for that...

Fun does not necessarily mean being the best at something...
(I'll need to stop gaming then...or quit my job...)

I got silver just by using FLY around the course (old short one), but I'll be damned if I can get close to 25 secs flying or otherwise.

I'm wondering about the use of TP by someone to pull you from the last gast before the portal, to the first one after it - if you have autorun on, you may not lose any time having to regain speed like you do with the portal.

That would take one heck of a synchronization effect! After you cross the last gate and have to decide left or right (I always went left) the amount of time you have to pull off the recall friend is very short. You'd probably hit the portal or the geyser before Recall Friend goes off... I think.

Thank goodness for that. Balance is the key, without balance you'd just be sledging on your bottom.

Maybe if Recall had 3x Interrupt Reductions in it.

Interrupt Reduction reduces the window for the power to be interrupted by an external force, not the activation time itself...

Going back to the op.. Dumb idea, sorry, but it is.

I've not managed to get more than Bronze on the advanced run so far, and *I'M* not crying about it! I just glare at the more skillful ones, gnash my teeth a bit, and try again.

What if we got somoene with Recall friend at each gate, we could get a pretty quick time for someone. I'm up for trying it some time.
