In pure conceptual terms it's certainly feasable. I believe that WoW is bringing in so called "phased" situations: where, depending on your actions, certain villages and whatnot can or cant be seen by your avatar. I guess norcal just needs to steal some of their resources and manpower to work it into the engine :P
As for base statues that would be stupendous. We have a hall of fame on the Elfling website, but to immortalise all the reachable 50s in statue form in the base would be beautiful. I /sign both suggestions

There's very little of that kind of client-end stuff goes on in CoH, and I wish they would do a lot more. Currently, the client-end stuff mostly consists of unimportant stuff and graphics artifacts. Little or no use of this kind of technology is made in CoX. Very sad.
On the OP's point: Yeah, this really should be in the Commonly Suggested Ideas thread...

Sg base hall of fame would be great (giant statue... unfortunately not really a goer imho). Choice of arcane or tech statue:
base:
Arcane: stone bust
Tech: copper plaque with image.
upgrade 1
arcane = stone replica
tech = hologram of shoulders and head
upgrade 2:
arcane: silver
tech: hologram of body
upgrade 3:
arcance: gold
tech: moving hologram of body

Seriously though, I thoroughly second Ramon Daark's suggestion of the SG statues... (just wondering how they could work regarding the system modelling your toon? - taking their que from the costume creator?).
I wouldn't want to see player statues in zones, we already have enough huge statues in-game.
(But the sentiment is appreciated Claudius - thankyou.)
One thing I would love to see is a Wall of Rememberance with an Eternal Flame somewhere in a newly remodelled Atlas Park or Galaxy City - for all those CoX players who have died. The last passing I remember being Mighty Saguaro, but there have been quite a few others (apparently it is quite common). It would be a fitting tribute to all who have contributed to the success of the game to have their names displayed in a roster when clicking on the Wall of Rememberance.

I would love to see something like that as well Mumsie - perhaps like the statue outside Kings Row Train Station. The plaque simplym says, "Never forgotten" and their name. It shows that we still remember all those faithful and loyal players for what they done.

and yes, I was agreeing to Coin_'s suggestion, just expanding it a bit. There is a picture of your hero in the ID screen, that must come from somewhere. the image would be a snapshot of the picture (in 3d form) at the time the sculpture is created and then altered to suit the medium (stone, bronze etc) used. Animations (if any) could be from the set of emotes (i'll have a flex 1 set off every ten minutes please!).
Doesn't the In game cannon say that there is a moratorium on statues of living heroes?

I13 character generator can import/export costumes!!! I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to upload the definition to the server. It's what happens after that that will be the difficult bit.

when i found this thread, the first thing i was thinking of was HOM(hall of monument), something GW has.
it's just a room that has all your achievements and shows special things you did, like trophies for finishing a chapter.
i think that if COX has this, we could show our badges.
have a place where we can display our favorite costumes and use that to save them for later use, and a place where we can show our veteran rewards.
this is character based and you can only show it when you have the star, but it might be a fun thing to have.

Don't show for badges and veteran rewards. Badges mean nothing but something shiny, and veteran rewards mean nothing if that player has only PLed his way to 50 all the time.
Calling "PL dude" or "badge dude" a legend would be so very wrong.

you could say the same about a lot of GW characters, most of them are just the rich bastards that get titles by buying everything they need.
that would be called "rich dude" or "grind dude", since a lot of them can only be done while grinding.
and about lvling, i have seen ppl in droknar, and that's a high-end city only for lvl 20.
but guess what, it's still there, because the casual player that doesn't PL doesn't have to suffer from the things PL ppl do.
if they put a timer on how long you spent to get the character lvl 50, then the PL ppl will hide there HOM of shame, and the casual player can show it in pride.

Then don't do it! Just because GW does it means we should do it. Stop comparing everything to GW, it's a lot better looking and PvP orinatated and it's a fantasy/sorcery/swords game.
I liked GW for a while but it then lost its shine.
Also, are your comments supposted to be against me? Because I don't see anything that really makes me want to disagree, well, except for the comparing to GW bit.
I think it would be the suppreme of coolness if your character could be immortalised into one of those giant statues. Of course only after hitting lvl 50 and performing a mind boggling Arc/TF.
Because in a world where almost every player hits that mark, the statue couldn't be placed for real. Of neccesity it would be only vissible to the player himself. Every one else wouls either see his own, a default statue or a random player hero statue.
I expect this to be not an easy programming task but could it be done (at a reasonable effort and cost)? If so, would it be a good thing to do so?
