What about the SG-Bases in i13?
There is some redname discussion about it on the US forums. Basically, apart from the repricing, the planned changes for bases have been pushed back due to the programmers having spent more time than initially intended on the Architect feature. No word yet on if those changes will now make it to i14, or possibly i15.

There was a slightly worrying post from Castle which went along the lines of "We decided we needed to fix the Item of Power (or whatever its called) TF/Raid first, and Base Raids. But before that we needed to fix PvP". So it looks like the initial concept of Bases simply as places to Raid and have IOPs is still being stuck with to a certain degree and tied in with PvP. I'm not sure that's a good thing. I don't mind balanced PvP scenarios or something being developed, but Base PvP still seems like a daft idea and something they're never going to balance well (since one side designs the base the event takes place in).
Hmmm. Just a random thought, maybe it'd be nice for NCSoft to run a "design a balanced and fun PvP Base for raiding" competition using the base editor. The winner(s) would be chosen by them and the community and used as templates for some sort of PvP scenarios / missions in i14 or 15. A bit like the Mission Creator but a one-off competition, a bit like designing a balanced Counterstrike or Team Fortress map, which would end up in-game as "Abandoned Base" PvP scenarios, with Attack/Defense or "Capture the Glowie" objectives.
*narf*
but they pushed the mission architect to i14 -.-
moar.........that really really **** -.-
i15? it can't be that players wait years for new base equipment and then nc tells the players , yeah you get new, and then nc want to do some other things and say, oh sry we do it in another year

matt miller say new base things for i13
when no new base things come, matt miller is a liar! ... i'm sry but it seems to be so :/
i think they have to check what they can do to the next issue and then tell the community ok thats what we do...after that they can't change it
Here's the very post I was referring to.

A lot of us have been looking forward to I13 - until we heard about the changes (or lack thereof). At some point, I13 went from I13: All Your Base (a direct quote from Posi) to I13: Shields, Pain and PvP. We have never been told why; what happened; or even that we weren't getting the promised/implied changes.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think we've said 'why' before, but that may be the pain killers talking (I'm a tad out of it today.)
.
In any case, bases were going to be one of the major focal points of I13, but two things happened: One was the Mission Architect, the other was PVP.
.
Mission Architect ended up being a much larger project than anticipated; the underlying systems used in our mission editor simply wasn't up to the standard needed for a released editor. This meant the engineering staff spent a far greater amount of time working on it than originally anticipated. The end results are great, but it meant that the other things they were meant to work on suffered. Bases are a large part of this.
.
The other part is PVP and the evolution that is taking place there. Internal work on the Bases were proceeding nicely, right up until the first Base vs. Base Raid playtest. The experience was not a good one, and that made everyone take a step back and re-evaluate what we were doing with Base Raids, the Cathedral and PVP in general. We determined we needed to spend time on a PVP revamp before finishing bases, so that meaningful base raids could be a possibility when we finished the changes.
.
So, that's 'why.' Neither of them are great 'why's' but there it is.

That's not how program development works though. For a lot of changes, especially in areas where you're doing things you've never done before (which is what a lot of CoX changes involve), you won't know how long things will take to do until you've finished them.
You can make estimates, and you can often get part way through and realise things are going a lot more slowly than you'd hoped, so you'll have to decide between postponing a release or moving something into a later release.
To call someone a "liar" because things took longer than planned is a bit strong though. "Liar" means something was said knowing it wasn't going to happen.
Is the weather forecaster a liar if he says it will be sunny tomorrow, and it actually rains?
I think they want to forget about the CoP, it will be another epic fail, because non pvp sg's aint going to open themselves up to base pvp and a destroyed base anyway.
Or make the CoP just another strike force, god knows villains need some more strike forces.
They should just concentrate on fixing the bugged, borked hard work base editor if they want to do something that would be appreciated by base builders/users.

There is talk that bases will auto-repair after raids in the future too, like the practice raids people have.
I still think it'll be too unbalanced to bother with though, if they want balanced "closed scenarios" like raids they'd be better off making objective based PvP missions / maps like WAR (and, to cross a genre slightly, Team Fortress and its ilk) do.
Castle (I think it was him) has actually said he'd love to get mini-games like capture the flag and king of the hill in to PvP. I think PvP NEEDS something like that, tbh.

I dont think it matters what they do, non pvp sg's just aint gonna want to be raided for something that came from what is basically just a TF/SF.

Yep, I totally agree. I'm amazed (and a bit disappointed) that the changes to Bases still seem to reflect the Devs ideas that they are primarily for PvP raiding, which they totally aren't, You'd have thought after 2 years they'd look at how people were tending to set-up and use their bases and say "Looks like we were completely wrong on what people will use their bases for".
Seems to me it would be better to get the bases working THEN make changes to the bases to allow PVP.
I know some people love PVP, but many of us (most perhaps) want a base for crafting, storing, transport and as a meeting point. I think the bases need some love for those aspects.
It´s like i always:
Bases are the Stepchilds of CoX !!!
I´ve been waiting for Years for atleast some litte extra deko.
But it seams EVERYTHING else is more Importent.
I have abandoned the hope of ever seaing something new.

Thats how it should be imo, if i want to pvp i'll go to an arena or pvp zone (mostly arena with friends if im honest). The supergroup base are used for like you said, tps, crafting, meetings etc.
Now if they added the code to allow an invasion style event that occurs in your base (protect your base from an attacking wave of certain npcs?) then that would be AWESOME!

i won't do pvp at my base, for my sg the base is some kind of a "home"....and many other sg's think alike...
but my fear is that nc take a too low priority on the bases, and the "new" bases come at a time where cox perhaps is dead...
i mean the bases comes "in a few years"...a great :/ who knows whether someone of us is here when nc finally set the new bases live
thats my fear
and at the moment i see it happens like this :/
i don't know exatkly how long the bases are beeing in the game since now, but its a very long time, and the whole time players want more decorations and so on....
but nc doesn't give the community anything :/
in the pocket d has been build a new thiki bar, and i think many many people would like to have a own thiki bar in their base...why can it be this kind of difficult to copy it in bases editor :/
Im still betting that the changes to the base editor (which is what we all want) are going to come with the mission designer stuff. Im even sure this is what GR was hinting at in one post last month.
I do agree that NC failed to anticipate how much players would want to do with the bases, but once they did (2007) they were already in different place with the purchase of the IP etc. and so many other things needed sorting out.
"i won't do pvp at my base, for my sg the base is some kind of a "home"....and many other sg's think alike..."
I totally agreed. Our SG originally built up our base so that we could take on the CoP trial - but now it's our 'home', or centre of operations. Crafting, teleporting, meeting(s), powering up, storing / purchasing / selling. It's not a place we want to get destroyed.
Why not turn on the CoP so that we can run SG TFs, and *not* have base raids turned on for a bit? See if that goes down well, first?

I want to do the CoP trial, I dont really want to then have to spend time base raiding and the like though, but the initial trial looked like some end game for 50s to do that was different and required more co-ordination than the run of the mill TFs

I'm not sure how reliable my memory is on this, but wasn't one of the devs, possibly Statesman, quite surprised at the amount of people using bases for things other than PVP, and even, gasp, roleplaying and group meetings?

Apparently he did indeed. Although my memory is a dull fuzzy mess too to be honest.
And also apparently he forgot to tell the rest of them before he left
Or they left. Whatever
I believe they were, which I think is why the plot rent changed, but I am getting old so memory is foggy on subjects I dont pay much attention to.
Never been a fan of the Sims so base building doesn't interest me much. I tend to look for the teleporters and that's about it

Looks at WoW's PvP games...
Would make me PvP for sure, I enjoyed PvPing in WoW until they upped the level cap, and might have again but got bored after I had push my main to 70. With the slight exception of the bounty system in Sirens Call PvP in CoH is boring. Thats why I don't do it. No reward and unless you're prepared to cookie cutter your build little chance of being successful in more than the odd encounter. Yes there are better PvPers than me, I don't mind being beaten if I have a chance, having no chance though is boring.
But I digress... sorry.
i understand that there are many things that might be more important than bases, because not all player like or build or use or what ever, the bases..... buuuut the bases have been stacked enough , so i think its time to took they on an higher lvl of importance.
for example the whole day job thing....i think that this is nearly uninteresting for the most players, because the offline times are too long and the bonus too small.
nc should have taken the whole energy and put it in the bases. this is what i would have preferred
hi!
i want to ask about the bases, and especially the base equipment and deko^^
what about new base things in i13?
after i12 it seems to come , finally!!!! , a complete review about base editor and base deko, but now ..... no one talks about it :/ only repricing....
ok...repricing doesn't care when nothing is there to build :/
who want's new base decoration too?
in every indoor mission we can find things, in the pocket d we can find....
there are so many things we want in our bases and there are many many threads with offers from the community
