OSTENTATIOUS badge is for getting all 30 temporary costumes.
Get a badge for 10, 20 and 30.

[/ QUOTE ]
Certainly last year it was badges for 10, 25 and 50.

[/ QUOTE ]

It's the same this year - there's 33 costumes and you have to get 17 duplicates (the only indication of getting a duplicate is the drop of two inspirations (if you've got space).

One problem though.

Every character I played yesterday who got the Ostentatious badge got it on a Trick. Very odd.

Ah, so that's why I was getting drops of two insps - I was wondering about that.

I got Fashionable and Ostentatious on Trick doors. Thought it was just me getting confused at the time!

Seems that duplicate costume does spawn either trick or rock/salvage (much rarer)... But unlike regular tricks, you get inspirations for those.

Well it seems the work around (if your also interested in XP and getting levels at the same time) for this is....

Team up with 7 other players. This means more spawns, more people that can stand next to the same doors (preferably four) and continue tricking and treating. Through a 2-4 hours you will have gotten enough Spirits for the "Buster" badge and can then solo for Treats.
Perhaps the spirits are set now for fixed spawn, perhaps a 1-5% (if not just 1%). In any event a big team will get more spawns and they all go towards everyones badges.
Did this on a 3 characters of mine. But as I said getting a level or two just for wanting "Buster" is kinda overboard.

The Spirit itself cant have been set as a boss creature (as it do not appear as a boss and can be spawned solo).

Well that is a few thoughts and conclusions from me. If this is not intended I hope the Devs fix it (so do petition it) or we will have a badge here that few will search for.

Also did the zombie invasion on Union. Was disappointed to realise that you can get all 4 badges in 1 zone if you have a group of 16+ people... EB badge first (as only need 1 to count)... Bosses seems like the hardest to get in smaller groups.

[/ QUOTE ]

I've been trying to get the EB badge on my villain for some days now. Have had loads of bosses but not one EB despite large number of players.
So during these fightings some theories came up that they only spawn in certain zones, x number of players and level of players. Has anyone seen any connection between one of these theories and EB spawn?

It uses the same code as the rikti invasions, which is detailed here:

[ QUOTE ]

During the second phase of the invasion, the Rikti check to see if more of their Invaders are required every 6 seconds.

The Rikti find out how many Invaders are currently on the ground. If that number is less than 100 and less than 3 times the number of players in the zone, the drop ships look for likely places to teleport more Invaders.

To find likely targets for the Invaders, the Rikti pick a hero or villain at random from all those in the zone. If that person is not moving faster than a sprint, at more than 20% health, are not under cover, within 100ft of the ground and are not within 300ft of the hospital, this person is a good target. The invaders will pick up to 5 unique player targets in each search period.

When a good target has been located, the Rikti count the number of their Invaders within 30ft of the target and assign a threat rating to each Invader. Minions Rikti are worth 0.33 point, Lieutenants are worth 0.75 points, Bosses are worth 1.5 points and Heavies are worth 3 points. The threat ratings of all the Rikti Invaders within 30ft of the target are added together to get the current Invader Threat in the area for this target.

Then they count the number of players within 30ft of the target and this number is used as the current Human Threat in the area for this target.

If the Rikti Threat is less than the Human Threat, Rikti Invader reinforcements are sent to the area around the target.

If the Human Threat is greater than 6 times the Invader Threat and there are already some Invaders in the area, the Rikti will send in Heavy Assault suits. They will send one suit if the Invader Threat is less than 1 suit, otherwise, they will send 2 suits.

If they did not send Heavies, they will check to see if the Human Threat is greater than 4 times the Invader Threat. In this case, they will send an amount equal to the difference between the Human Threat and the Invader Threat divided by two up to a max of 4 units. These units may be Chief Soldiers, Chief Mesmerists, Rikti Priests, Rikti Monkeys, Drones, Conscripts, Infantry, Guardians, Headman Gunman or Chief Mentalists.

If they still have not sent troops, they will send an amount equal to the difference between the Human Threat and the Invader Threat up to a max of 8 units. These units may be Rikti Monkeys, Drones, Infantry, Conscripts, Guardians, Headman Gunman or Chief Mentalists.

Obviously the mobs types are different, but the ranks are the same.

You basically need to have lots of players in close proximity, and you have to virually defeat a wave of attackers for EBs to spawn.

I really should do something about this signature.

Cheers PRAF that explains why in some Rikti Invasions you see loads of suits and others you see none. If the player levels are high (like at PI) then they can clear the minions, Lt and Bosses faster than lower level alts and thus should see more Heavies. This does seem to be the case too.

So if you want the EBs you need more players wiping out the mobs quicker.

So on that basis if you have 3 players (Threat level 3) and they keep everything but one minion (Threat level 0.33)taken out heavies can spawn - two won't do it as that is exactly 6 times and not more than.

Anyone fancy testing this.

I hav now managed to take out a grand total of 4 spirits... and they have all come from the same door. Is this merely coincidence?

I was organising a Rikti Ship Raid yesterday, and we were trick or treating the fort at Point du Hoc while we were waiting to get enough people together. There were two and a bit teams there for most of the time, and we must have got eight or nine spirits turn up in the space of about half an hour (we were spawning some massive mobs, though).

So, I reckon that several teams of ToTers working together in one small area would spawn enough Spirits in no time...

Atlas might be a good place for the EB badge, as there's usually a few 50s about and I got it with a lvl 5 toon pretty much straight away.

@craggy see me on Union for TFs, SFs (please!) or just some good ol fashioned teaming.

Finally got the Buster badge last night. It took 4 nights ToTing and I've leveled 3 times, but I've finally got the sucker.

Looking at Lighthouses comment. It seems to me the reason for dropping the Huge insp down to small ones is a is rubbish . So for 2 weeks in the year Huge insp were easy to get, that meant for 50 weeks it they weren't. It made the event more special and made treats worth having. If they felt they needed to change things it would have been better to have given a chance of any size insp dropping IMO. Not that I felt a change wa needed .
