Or in my case, logs out, opens a browser window, crashes game... then again, seeing as I was looking at the 'Mapserver has fallen over' message I'm not missing much.
Nice find Lost... very handy!
Now that is clever... Thanks
Hrm, I used to just close the game and open a new one since I could do it in less than 30 seconds, if I was relogging. This will be extremely handy. Thanks.

I gotta try this and if it works then ty.
He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.
Ooh very nifty, I likes
Yeah I used to open up a new client, and close the open one down to desktop while the new client is loading..this will make things much easier
I don't wanna save my soul now,
I just wanna lose control,
And even if it takes a lifetime, to learn:
I'll learn!
Just a small thing that some may find useful, I certainly do:
Create a macro. Type '/macro Quit, Buy_Coh'
You now have a button in your powertray that when clicked brings up the prompt to fast logout! Hope I've helped!
Technically, that command actually causes the game to crash; not something I'd advise other people to do...
Do it properly. Type /quit and click the box that appears; Instant out.

But that takes you to the Desktop, not back to the Log on screen, doesn't it? Which is what Lost is trying to avoid here, his brings you back to the Log on screen.

I think it depends how good your computer is aswell- Mine works fine cos I have quite a new computer, but older computers would probably have trouble using this method of logging out.
Oh, my PC is definitely way up there in the "good" classification.

But your double-quotes are way up there in the "amusing" classification.
The wisdom of Shadowe: Ghostraptor: The Shadowe is wise ...; FFM: Shadowe is no longer wise. ; Techbot_Alpha: Also, what Shadowe said. It seems he is still somewhat wise ; Bull Throttle: Shadowe was unwise in this instance...; Rock_Powerfist: in this instance Shadowe is wise.; Techbot_Alpha: Shadowe is very wise *nods*; Zortel: *Quotable line about Shadowe being wise goes here.*

Pfft. That's the crappy forum software. I've given up trying to delete the doubles it causes. It's hard enough getting anything to post as it is!

Well it's the crappy forum software coupled with your crappy browser & odd work connection set-up to be fair.

This should be the best macro ever!

Clearly dual core

They were appropriately appalled

They're now putting it all together.

Eight legs, one body, silk,

Just to point out that this macro does work exactly as a text string command I posted in OP does, but creates a tray icon with most of the word 'Quit' displayed.
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>/buycoh</pre><hr />
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>/bind <key> "buycoh"</pre><hr />
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>/macro Quit "buycoh"</pre><hr />
All in effect function the same.
Why FFM's PC crashes with this I can't say, my 2nd machine (runs my alt account), struggles to load a browser but doesn't crash. I suspect its some sort of interaction issue between the game client and the browser. What browser do you use by the way?

It works perfect for me, and I'm using IE7.

You have just realised for whatever reason you need to change character, and don't want to wait the full 30 seconds that logout to login again takes. While it is possible to quit to desktop and reload the game from scratch sometimes faster than those annoyingly long 30 seconds it isn't always.
Help however is now at hand, at the cost of opening a browser window (done by the game) you can logout to the login screen in one easy procedure.
In the chat box type:
/buy_coh
Or for further options mentioned below:
/macro Quit "buy_coh"
Creates a button that brings up the popup, then click yes.
/bind f12 "buy_coh"
Hit f12 to see the popup.
All of the above can have $$dialog_yes added to the end to auto complete the popup and thus exiting immediately. Thus
/macro Quit "buy_coh$$dialog_yes"
Currently I personally use:
/bind lctrl+f12 "buy_coh$$dialog_yes"
Notes:
Your character will actually remain online for thirty seconds so using this with mobs PvE or PvP is rather stupid as they will still be able to kill you.
If you try and login again within that 30 seconds you will be told that you are still online, you can ignore that message.
