You only need to click the key once if you bind it like this:
/bind <key> "buy_coh$$dialog_yes"

Incidently, though I still use this method to alt between characters, some people have been telling me that this isn't good for the servers or something? Is there any truth to that?

SADLY, the "Buy_COH" command has been removed from the game so this trick no longer works.
I really, really miss it.
