Call me cynical but........

.....I reckon more people left or stopped playing due to WAR than the Devs thought and thats why the announcement has come out today.

Lets face it, I13 is still quite a way away using his own words (over the next few weeks we will reveal details) and I wouldnt mind betting that it comes out around the second week in November, funnily enough, thats coincides with Wrath of the Lich King, the WoW expansion.

Of course there is nothing wrong with competition, but I do wish we had more to look forward to than a Mission creator that most people I know have no interest in.

Some of you are saying you are looking forward to it, but lets face it, when was the last time you checked out the creative forum? I thought so.......

First, you need to know more people then
And second, the mission creator has been moved back to Issue 14

But yeah, you are a bit cynical...and the last time I checked the creative forum was earlier today...so yeah...

That you don't do it...or your the people you know aren't looking out to the Mission creator says nothing at all. Except that I13 and I14 might be dissappointing for you and your friends because it didn't include features you would like to see.

And of course people will play other MMO's when new and shiny things get out. I'm guilty of that too...but most of them come back to this game. And it is quite possible to play multiple MMO's at the same time too.

That is slightly cynical, but then I wondered if NC had suffered a bit of mission creep. What with this being a big issue and lots of new staff being added halfway through well, we all know what that does to a project.

Its the last bit of the forum I check at night and the first in the morning. I think at least half my post count is from the threads in there. In fact, excluding all the server and AT sections, its the fifth most popular section out of fifteen. That places it pretty high up the scale.

I didn't say it was. I meant that after I13, which is still probably a ways off, then we have the creator which I am not interested in, so it will be next Summer by the time there is something else possibly of interest,

Even if the entire player base left to play WAR right this minute it will be some time before the subs actually changed anyway. And the Devs have no way of working out if the reason no-one is online at this point due to a new game, a football match or something else.

Besides WAR is a completely different game, leave WoW for WAR sure, but CoH for WAR unless you're going to leave for anything is daft.

well i might not check out the creative side 24/7 infact its prop been some weeks. however. im looking forward to i14 for the MC cos i like to rp sometimes/be creative-and who doesnt like being creative in one way or another.

also i14 wont just be MC there will be other things in i14 and cant judge it yet considering its what-6 months away maybe a wee bit more.

i13 sounds intertesting. its not ground breaking but then again its something nice to have. and u have to remember if u like anything ground breaking- it takes time.

Just for the record - WAR is poooooooooooooo (IMO) It is like a poor WoW PVP with LotRO graphics. It runs like a dog and is badly in need of bug fixes all over. Considering they scaled it down to make it easier they still released it way too early! And its completely different to CoX. Anybody that plays CoX and tries WAR - i doubt they will leave CoX entirely - not a good enough substitue at the moment. Of course all my opinion and people are free to play what they want

I stopped playing for a week to "enjoy" SPORE... when I got to the space age and played for about 3 days, that was it: game done.

Now I'm trying to get my Khelds to 50 so I can put them behind me and pretend like they never happened. Argh comes to mind when I think of my Khelds.

I agree with this. I'm having quite a bit of fun with WAR at the moment. especially in the RvR thingies (although I suck) but I prefer CoHs PvE game, its far better. Plus getting around is waaay more fun in CoH.

Because if people dont bother reading the creative forums, then are they really going to bother with reading peoples storylines?

Another example is the "chatterbox" in LGTF, everyone just says wish she would shut up rather than reading her chatter.

Well thats good for you, and you will obviously look forward to the creator.

But I am just saying that if people arent creative, or even just dont want to work that hard playing a game, then the mission creator offers nothing.

Plus what you have to remember is that a lot of people dont even post on the regular forums let alone go to the creative ones.

If people don't like PvP, then PvP zones offer nothing, if a person doesn't like creating costumes then the costume creator offers nothing.

Having done the LGTF MANY times. Reading her rant is BORING.

I don't read the creative forums much. But when I decide to play a mission arc someone has created, I will read the story line because its new, unlike 95% of the story arcs currently on CoH/V.
And I expect a lot of people who don't read the creative forum and people who don't even touch the forums do read story lines. You really are making a HUGE assumption there.

First off, no matter how much people like to think it, or compare them, WoW and CoX are not in any form of competition. They are massively different, in different genres, of different play styles, and if NC are sheduling thier releases based on WoW (and WAR for that matter) then they are being very thick. And, frankly, I don't think they are.

The competition CoX has is yet to come out. It's CO and DCUO, and rumour has it that I14 and CO's release may be rather close together, which is far more likely a happenstance.

Secondly, if you go look at WoW Insider, you'll see a report wondering how Blizzard are going to get even vaguely close to that release date. Burning Crusade was several weeks late, as I recall. Planning your release schedules around when Blizzard say something is coming out is kind of like aiming at a moving target while standing on a teeter-board.

PS. I posted on Creative yesterday, and looked in on it today. I go there at least once a day. Grow up?

I hardly ever read the creative forums, yet I still enjoy reading stories. Including in game stories, personally I don't see the connection.

I'd completely disagree on this, based on the popularity of the WAR thread, how many people are indeed currently trying it out and on your own previous actions where you left CoX for a long period of time to play WoW and LOTR.

Just because 2 things are different genres doesn't mean in any way that they aren't competing for an overlapping pool of potential players. There are plenty of CoX players who are or used to be WoW, LOTR or WAR players too.

I would agree that I don't think NCSofts announcement is based on any other MMOs schedule, its more based on their own internal one and its overrun.
