Hero respec is too easy now...

[/ QUOTE ]

Presumably because you know how to handle it nowadays.

Borked builds should set the baseline of a respec difficulty, IMO. Not those who already know how to handle the things.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well... it has been dumbed down alot. You can no longer get several waves to spawn at once, and the waves will either be your level or lower, even if you set diff up.

Was nothing like having 4 waves spawned at once and all of em were +2 or +3 level to you. Then it was fun, and quite hard

sorry Col, I should have clarified on the concept rather than assuming everyone knew what I was on about

Room 101 originates (i think - please correct if wrong) from the George Orwell novel "1984" in which people live in a true "big brother" state complete with thought police and what-not. People who refuse to conform are arrested and sometimes tortured in the eponymous "room 101" - which is where you come face to face with whatever your greatest fear is. example: in the film the guy was afraid of rats so they put a helmet on him that had rats in it etc.

This was subsequently used as a basis for a comedic chat-show in England whereby celebrities (or varying standards of fame) are invited to nominate several of thier pet hates to the host who will then decide whether to consign them to room 101 where they are destroyed and erased from reality (this last part is debateable as i'm sure someone put Anne Robinson in once).

[/ QUOTE ]

Fixed. Originally Orwell wanted to call it 1948 because he has always had a very right wing political agenda and wrote it after Atlee's landslide victory in 1945. However it's an apposite read currently some might argue.

Orwell is also famous for writing Animal Farm and fighting in the Spanish Civil War (I'll let you guess which side he chose :P)

ok my rants:

Actually I don't have too many.

I'd prefer Mercy Island to be a tad smaller so it's easier to get around at low level.

I've hardly ever done a thing in the Shadow Shard on either side, which in 2.5 years tells me a lot about how unused it is.

I love some of the Hazard/Trial Zones, Dark Astoria, Boomtown, etc. I would LOVE to see them getting more content to make them worth visiting

Constant nerfs against single powers instead of boosting the rest

Yeah, it's so much easier to balance things if you adjust 100+ other powers all at once, rather than the single one that's actually out of whack.

Pfft, that's your choice

[/ QUOTE ]Well, technically the respec trials (at least the 24-33 ones) are meant for newbies who screwed up their builds, who will more often than not end up doing it in a PUG with their silly builds and lacking knowledge of gameplay.

Which is why the Villain respec sucks for not being newbie-friendly.

He was certainly a Socialist, at times an Anarchist. He joined the International Brigade and fought for the Republicans against Franco's fascist Phalange during the Spanish Civil War. Like many intellectual western European Socialists he became deeply critical of the Communist regime in the Soviet Union and the slavish support offered it by British communists, some of whom entered Parliament in 1945 on the coat-tails of the post-war craving for social justice and a better peace. He was far from a Right-Wing thinker.

Back on track -

Yes, I also get tired of chasing Isolator (especially with defenders and controllers) but at least veteran rewards make it less difficult if you have them. I wouldn't change it, though, since I also recognise and agree with the point made earlier that to do so would devalue the badge - especially for those who already have done the slog - and with a controller back in the day when Sands of Mu and Nemesis Staff were merely twinkles in the eye!

Ok I don't like thism, this thread is getting vaguely educational! (quite right though it's George Orwell, don't know where Orson Wells came from in my head).

Anyway, back to moaning! Anyone else just HATE HATE HATE the pointless kill 50 malta/carnies/insert really annoying mobs here missions you get from some contacts in PI? When i was still a n00b (yes, I know it doens't seem possible) and got my first toon to near 50 I mistakenly did about 6 of these from one contact before realising they were going to keep giving them infinitely!

I'm not going to read through all the posts, but I can put money on it that someone has said "Removal of PvP" or something anti-PvP related. My answer to that is No.

My 3 annoyances are as follows:

1. Players that moan about PvP
2. Expensive recipes (Increase the rare drop rates damnit!)
3. Players that moan about PvP (I'd remove them in an instant) It makes the game less fun and tedious listening to the anti-PvP rants on and off the game, if they don't like PvP they should go and play Pac Man (as someone "suggested" on arena yesterday )

Acutally I don't think anyone's mentioned PvP yet

I personally have no problem with PvP, I have dabbled in it but rarely so as it's just so hideously unbalanced and I can never bring myself to respec a good PvE toon into a decent PvP build

My one irritation would be PvPers that go out of thier way to ruin PvP for others - luckily i'm immune as I don't care for it anyway

[edit] apologies for excessive use of smilies...Golden Girl...taking over....body!

I think its just easier, certainly I can complete it with a borked character in a PuG with ease. And the only issue now is waiting around for more things to kill.

/Archery Defenders. Defender secondaries are good for the stacked secondary effects (especially Sonic Attack), not the "damage". Archery has none except for Stunning Shot. What's worse, it's all Lethal. At least a Corruptor will deal okay damage with it when Archery/TA gets ported over to them due to a higher damage mod and Scourge.

When Defenders get Thermal, and Fire to go with it, I'm probably gonna add another secondary to the "Why would a Defender choose this?" list to go with Archery.

Don't hurt me, I won't hold prejudice towards a person or kick them from groups or anything based on build. I just won't understand why you'd pick it (aside from concept of course!), or why the Devs let you have it.
Speaking strictly from a game mechanics point here. If you have a great concept for your archer, I'll end up liking it regardless.

2)Players that make illogical suggestions because what they like is best.
3)Lack of market dynamics in the AH, the only way to bring prices down is to make this closed bidding system open. See how much people are selling for and then buy at that price. Rather than just bidding some random value. WoW isn't all that, but the AH does work well.

I'm not anti PVP.. just anti PVPers.

It might be your preference of style of play, it isn't mine. Get over it.

On that subject, one thing that can go in there are the changes made to PVE to "balance PVP". Why? It's possible to have a different set of effects of a power when it's against a player or "critter", so why not just change that attribute of it? Don't stuff up PVE just to please the PVP minority tyvm.

Totally agreed. I find it odd that PvP has that effect. The whole "I PvP therefore i am better than you" attitude...
Some like to PvP, some don't big deal? apparently it is.

Ok guys, stearing the thread gently yet firmly away from the can of acid-spewing worms that is PvP...this thread is more about those little "quirks" in gameplay that we love to hate. The little bits of "design" that make you think "who on earth had that idea?" rather than to discuss the big controversial game-breaking topics

To add another one to the list; the way when your on a team (thinking TFs here in particular) and your trying to read the mission info/story...and it keeps dissappearing every 5 seconds, then rescrolls to the top, grrr!

Auras.

You spend ages stitching sequins on your spangly new duds then - KABAM! - big perma-glowie mess all over it from your vital armours.

good one, but i'd also counter that with; lack of auras. Choices I mean. I can't remember the last time a new aura was added - we get new cossie pieces and capes etc all the time, but no new auras. (before anyone points it out - having flies buzzing around you does not count! I want pretty auras )

I want the fx you get when using hoarfrost or frostwork to be an aura! also many others I can't recall at this time, but they are very pretty...

Just a quick and utterly honest question from someone whose search-fu is weak: When was the last time there was a 'nerf' explicitly and officially stated as being for PvP reasons? And, given whatever the answer to that question is, why does everyone think that nerfs are caused by PvP balance issues?

The wisdom of Shadowe: Ghostraptor: The Shadowe is wise ...; FFM: Shadowe is no longer wise. ; Techbot_Alpha: Also, what Shadowe said. It seems he is still somewhat wise ; Bull Throttle: Shadowe was unwise in this instance...; Rock_Powerfist: in this instance Shadowe is wise.; Techbot_Alpha: Shadowe is very wise *nods*; Zortel: *Quotable line about Shadowe being wise goes here.*

I'm not sure any have been stated to be explicitly for PvP purposes, but that is often the strong impression you get from some of the changes. As for the last one?...hmm, they changed the repel on hurricane in some way (think it ticks less often) to prevent people being locked into corners in PvP (odd coz that's what I thought it was for ), but not sure that actually had any negative impact on PvE. Also some might argue the recent EM "nerf" was PvP biased, but then equally as many would argue it was overperforming in PvE anyway.

Not sure how "officially" this was ever admitted, but to my mind the most recent one (and it is fairly recent) would be the "using any phase shift locks out all other phase shift power for 30 secs" one. Why? Because I can't see chaining phase shifts having been an issue at all in PvE.

I doubt there's anyone that thinks all nerfs are down to PvP, but FWIW I believe some of them are.

[/ QUOTE ]They usually do just that. However, that method is only usable in offensive powers.
