Try a Kinetics / Psychic Blast Defender. Psychic Blast is hardly resisted (Bare in mind, you are playing a Defender) and Kinetics has a heal and some really nice buffs and debuffs. It's also a very good PvP combo.

Soloing on a defender on PvE is not really a good idea tbh. If you want a defender that seems good in PvP and that can solo almost decently (at least until lvl 32) on PvE you want either a Rad/Sonic or a Rad/Psi, but as I said, if you want to solo a defender on PvE, be ready for a huge patience dose.
I agree with Nightmarer, go for either Rad/Sonic or Rad/Ice. Oh and there was a time that a dark/dark/dark or D3 defender was almighty.

I found soloing on my Kin/Psy Defender quite alright. It was fun and sometimes slow, but I enjoyed it and could do so with ease.

Dark/Dark/Dark is known as a D3 to many people

I'm guessing Rapthorn feels the last D in D3 should be Defender, but that's in a D4

If your looking for a toon for solo, PvE and PvP play then i'd probably have to recommend a ill/rad controller. Illusion is one of the better PvP sets and solo's well due to the pets and the nasty debuffs.
If your dead set on a defender, then certainly a choice of rad/dark/storm primaries would be my choice, with a high damage ST set like sonic or psy.

If you pick ill bear in mind that it starts blooming imo at 18 and at least for me it was a long journey. He is 34 now and i love that toon. Feels like a mini rts

. Now I didn't say the BEST at soloing PvE and PvP, but capable, not so hard that it stops being fun! Obviously I still want to be good in team play, and I'm sure any defender/controller is. I'm aware this is solely Defender forum, but perhaps what I really want is a controller and I'm sure you guys can point me in the right direction if I'm in the wrong one now!
I've read all the guides I can find and am still pretty clueless. I played this game about 2 years ago, and am now returning to it, since it's arguably the best MMO for people who don't have a lack of life to grind 24/7 and "be the best"
Also I'm a super hero nerd ^^
In any case I want my first "real" char to be a controller/defender, something more interesting and
"harder" (in my mind) then the "dps" scrapper and blaster, and tank.
My main priorities for first char are soloing PvE, PvP, since it's a first toon I don't expect to find the greatest team instantly
I had a grav/kin controller last time I played, not high level, but I still felt that in PvP I'd be limited.
Obviously I know there is no toon great at Everything, but if you just give me options and tell me the pros and cons it would help me immensely to choose who I shall be!
Any help is much appreciated
