Hi there, any advice is greatly appreciated
This build is centered to PvP but I want it to be as PvE friendly as possible without loosing anything on the PvP side.
I have no experience with any melee chars so I'm sure theres lots wrong specially with the slotting.
I play most the time with another Stalker who is DualBlade/Ninjitsu.
The last 2 abilities I was unsure on, Caltrops because it could be useful, and Recall Friend, as well as useful, in battle with teleport foe me would be good way to get my partner out of trouble.
If anyone has other suggestions to what I should have them as let me know!

Hi there!
I've read all the guides I can find and am still pretty clueless. I played this game about 2 years ago, and am now returning to it, since it's arguably the best MMO for people who don't have a lack of life to grind 24/7 and "be the best"
Also I'm a super hero nerd ^^
In any case I want my first "real" char to be a controller/defender, something more interesting and
"harder" (in my mind) then the "dps" scrapper and blaster, and tank.
My main priorities for first char are soloing PvE, PvP, since it's a first toon I don't expect to find the greatest team instantly. Now I didn't say the BEST at soloing PvE and PvP, but capable, not so hard that it stops being fun! Obviously I still want to be good in team play, and I'm sure any defender/controller is. I'm aware this is solely Defender forum, but perhaps what I really want is a controller and I'm sure you guys can point me in the right direction if I'm in the wrong one now!
I had a grav/kin controller last time I played, not high level, but I still felt that in PvP I'd be limited.
Obviously I know there is no toon great at Everything, but if you just give me options and tell me the pros and cons it would help me immensely to choose who I shall be!

So like..there is still not much help on the subject of SR or Regen with katan. For pvp ecspecialy any votes?
And do both have np with downtime after Stamina? -
Ok guys, well i like variety and rad definately looks nice for that, so i gues ill go with it, also i like the debuffing :P
Any points in which fire abilities are best for damage?

Freind got the game now and wants me to make a new char with her...so here i am again
Iv played grav/kin till the midd teens and do like the control, so would choose fire of illu this time. However im stuck for secondary with fire. Kin or rad? I care more about what is ultimately more powerfull at 50, rather then whats better at begining. i would still get a travel form from pools if i get kin. rad looks like more to do in combat, and with fire epic you get combustion. But many people have said kin is best, with FS, and certainly for end. Anywho advice -
Ok
I took out one recharge from transfusion.
Wont add an end rdx to crushing field, i think other slots got more priority.
I like hover fast, for things like transfusion incombat. Personal preference really.
I took out conserve power and replaced it with the blast, for those times when nuking is required! placed 2 accuracies and 3 damages.
Switched the recharges in Temp Invuln with DmgRes.
Took one slot out of ID and made it Dmg Res.
Ahh super refined :P Ok im certainly happy with the build now. I dont think ill keep editing it as there is no "perfect" build, and this is as good as id likeThanks all been alot of help! Ill post the final one here just for interests sake, ill get GD 6 sloted asap, just couldnt be botherd to change it all in the build maker

First, i got 2 reducrecharge in heal just for those dodgy times when some spam healing is in order :P and 1 immob on crush didnt seem to outweigh that.
Crushing field at 10 instead of siphon speed cause im playing with a rad/rad defender, so with that hold we can use his debuffs alot more effectively. The whole corner, then keep them around the anchor thing. And that seems to be more usefull for those 6 lvls then siphon speed.
Not bothering to get -end redux in fly or hover as i base as with Stam, Transference And Conserve power, iv aimed to avoid using slots on that, and there is always rest if it gets THAT bad.
I do want conserve power, in those long fights, and i have hasten + speed siphon + rad thingy (haste or somin that makes you faster) i wna be able to be knocking of abilities without having end issues. And basicaly i dont want ANY end issues in the whole game :P So yea id like to take it, specialy over the other epic power options.
Erm yea and Increase Density just ended up last..since everything else seems more important :P -

Im not sure about bothering with Crushing Field at all, GDF is far superior, but I can't see a better place for the point, and remember seeing somewhere it works well with wormhole.
Power blast seems useles to get as i have lift and propel, a third damage move is just unneccesary. So flurry seems good to fill that spot.
Other then fitness pool is leadership, and personaly i think not having to worry about stam, like NO down time is very niceand would prefur that to +15% damage + other stuff.
Right?
I've played this char to lvl 8 so far, so still learning.

This is for PvE and PvP. Orignaly i wasnt going to have pools from fitness, with transfusion and conserve power, but won't have conserve power for some time, and it means i dont have to spam transfusion in battles. I hate down time, so I thought stam was worth it.
I play PvE with a rad/rad defender if that changes anything, maybe pvp with him but dont count on it. Also is my slotting ok? -
So is stam/health/swift and hurdle vital for this build?
-specialy with Transference and conserve power.
Im making the same kinda char, but planning on only using Primal forces and Flight from pools, not fitness so i can have more skills from skills grav and kin. -

Im not sure if i should have got TP freind or Hasten, any backup on those?
Rain of Fire is great, if not for damage then keeping those mobs out of action by making them move, and with a ring of fire you can kill one or two of them with it. Hot feet would just increase this effect, meaning they take longer to move out.
I love pvp, though i havnt tried it in this game, so perhaps it would be smart to get Burn? Also should i go for a pool command?
Though i do rate Combustion, i just feel like I've already got enough AoE abilities, and it will be a button i wont get much chance to press. Though it would work great with Fire sword circle, rain of fire and hot feet, I reckon ill be out of end before i got a chance to press it. So left it out, perhaps something is better then it i didn't select?
Oh and comments on Bonfire? -
Hey, a few of you may have noticed me asking all the newbie questions (still got more to ask for blaster :P), but thats how i like to play games, i like to have my chars planned rather then spend 3months leveling them only to find i did the wrong thing!
However Im comfortable with my choice now and am decent enough at playing (me thinks) and im a quik learner anyway!
Me(fire/fire blaster) and a freind (erg/dev blaster- who has been playing for a couple months already) are searching for a SG, wer only lvl 12 but are playing daily and looking for a bigish SG with lots to offer. Although you would be taking a risk with me, as I am newish, I can confidently tell you im a mature gamer when it matters, and will not let you down
As for my freind, hes dope! no worries with him
btw we are both from London UK and 18 (ill be 18 in 2months).
We are happy to use coms programs like teamspeak.
Although I would like to go far in games, having fun is alot more important, right!? So the main reason we want a big guild is bigger community, more stuff to be seen, more groups (we love teamplay), nice base ,etc
Wer not really in it for the glory, just a good time! Though im sure all SGs wish to do the best they can when it comes to game content anyway

After ALOT of testing out, im loving Illusion
But still stuck between /rad and /kin
You all say /rad is better damage, since you cant buff your phantom army with /kin and it debuffs them. But looking at both sets kin got transference/falcrum shift/speed boost/siphon power..blabla
/Rad,well radiation infection is nice, but im playing with another person so the target may die early in fight alot. Fallout also is attractive, but requires a dead freind! which i hope to not have.
And EM pulse seems pretty crappy :/
Is there a big damage difference between them? or is one more useful then another? -
hehe ok well seeing as im not aoe like blaster, ill certainly appreciate the big numbers, and going for all natural hero, so katana goes nicely. As well as that being left handed in a game is refreshing
(you cant change that right? hehe just curious)

Are there any pool powers i should put points in? (for travel ill go super jump/fly, is flykick(forgot name, prequisite) good, maybe in pvp? )
And in terms of slotting and enhancements, with the test chars iv thought (for damage moves) simply accuracy and damage modifiers are best, is that right or is there something im missing?

Aye it seems Katana is best in the long run, err kinda confused with the first choice of abilities, Sting of the Wasp, and Gambler's Cut :S
Also, about what level did you stop having to wait for recharges + never press brawl again? :P -

Im relatively new to the game, just played it a bit exploring and such. Ill be playing with my girlfreind, wer still waiting for order to arrive, who has gone for storm/light defender (or blaster if she doesnt enjoy that later on).
Iv tried out controller, and the lack of instant damage isnt my thing, im not keen on hybrids or tanking, so defender and tanker out, and i did try blaster but, i don't know, got to simple for me i gues. Scrapper seemed alot more fun atm, and im pretty certain thats what i want to go with. However im torn between katana and claws, iv looked at all the abilities and played with them for 4 levels, but cant decide. It seems katana has a slow start, where brawl seems to be used quite abit (by me) but that will simply pick up when i have more moves.
Claws seems to have slighlt more aoe and faster, though katana is more focused and bigger burst damage.
Id really like some experienced opinions and advice on this, My way of playing is certainly fast kills rather then control, i want my next ability ready without any time to brawl imbetween. I like aoe, but i can sacrifice the blaster's aoe for scrappers, as long as i can kill them fast to make up for it.
Suggestions on secondary power would be good to

all the info iv had here it has helped alot and i am very thankful for it, although do feel a pang of guilt for creating yet ANOTHER post hehe..
well i have a fire/fire blaster, playing with 2 freinds who also loving blaster, elec/elec and ener/dev and am loving itbut just wanted to get clear on a few moves. I checked out some builds posts here and honestly didnt understand half of it, (the number is number of slots?). but anyway I just want advice with abilities.
1. Fire Blast, Ring of Fire
2. Fire Ball
4. Fire Sword
6. Rain of Fire
8. Fire Breath (lvl 9 atm, took alot of alts for us all to be happy xD)
10. Combustion *
12. Attack Jump
14. Power Jump (i forgot the jump names :S)
16. Build up
18. Blaze
20. Blazing Aura*
22. pools powers, probaly comand buffs
And onwards all the higher lvl abilities.
*I was not sure about these moves, Is combustion and blazing aura good? Or would Aim or Fire Sword Circle be better?
My thinking was combustion has a larger AoE then FSC, although i use FS alot and find it very usefull, unless i opened up with FSC it would only hit 2 people max, so not that great.
Aim, well i dont miss THAT much, and since i do AoE's stuff always hits something most of the time, and if there is a special case lke a higher lvl boss i can always get Acu inspirations. Though blazing aura looks like it might take loads of end.
Well i gues you get Everything eventualy right, but i would like to know waht to get first mainly so i dont waist slots.

Just another question to add on for raids, whats the minimum number of players required per team? I play with 3 other freinds, we have played most games together, and prefur to be us 4 rather then all joining a big SG/Guild/clan. Simply more fun, relaxed and we have more control to do what we want. but is 4 simply to small? Will we have to all join a bigger group, or recruit to raid?

After testing out a couple builds, and reading up a bit more (mainly to see what each build is like later on) I find myself truely stuck :/
Fire/Fire looked like lots of fun, but finding out its weakness in later game, with agro, soloing and pvp it seems its not for anyone.
Basicaly i want to do pvp, as well as damage in pve.
My usual tactic in PvP games is not so complicate. Kill them fast, and be gone again before they read "hospital".
I dont like Archery, or AR and not to keen on sonic either. Elementals are my thing. Anyone who experienced Fire/Fire can tell me if what i said is wrong, or if it is possibnle to solo, pvp effectively and work in teams with these powers? Elec seems to be other top damager, but havnt heard much about its pvp situation, or compared to in solo and teams. (ill probaly be palying with another blaster of some sort, but would like to be able to play independently and not rely on others). Thanks for replies White and Seriphos
