i simply cant decide , i know that katan/regen is good becuase i have a lvl 36 but i keep thinking on having an sr so i feel like i wanna make 1 , but sometimes sr sucks .. so i could use some advice on what should be best , and 1 question , can sr dodge a boss , EB , AV much ? i mean they have a higher chance hitting me becuase of their rank and the fact they are always red and purple .. so what should fit best together and be most powerful ?

well i have a katana/regen at lvl 50, lovely lovely sets high dps and great survivability

i've also gone and made a katana/sr, currently lvl 17 sr is very heavy on endurance pre-stamina
but having katana you get divine avalanche (same as Parry from Broad Sword) wich gives +Def to meele and lethal making you able to slot for some extra end reducers instead of Def Buffs during the earlier lvls, also taking Lotus Drops directly at 18 might be a bit too rough on endurance since it has a rather high cost.

katana/sr as such is a very nice set that works together nicely, some see it as rather team dependant at first but thats just personal taste.

i'd say give it a try, cant get worse than you not liking it

also if you feel like taking another route than katana, BS is said to work very well with sr due to tremendous burst damage and Parry, ofc BS means even higher endcost pre-stamina, even after stamina it might be a bit high, but its nothing a bit of slotting cant fix

Regen for PvE and SR for PvP IMO.

imvho regen does better in PvP than SR does. but that like everything else is a matter of personal preference.

Regen against blasters, SR against the nasty trollers

Rolled a Kat/SR a while back and im now upto lvl 39, really enjoying it. endurance was a problem before stamina but slotting an end red in the attacks and toggles has sorted that out, its a very enjoyable build.

Give it a go to level 10 and if if you dont like it delete the toon.

Current SR level 32, In PvP i can find it kinda tough if i solo without a self heal yet, apart from that Im sure it will eventually come into its own

Im lvl34 kat/sr and loving it, got owned in Warburg by a BS/rgn though.

1 on 1 can pretty much hold my own in SC, but will need heal self for warburg fights (im getting it next)

Ive mostly solod all the way through and found it easy, can fight +2 bosses no problem (+3 if there on there own).

/rgn is a great set though havent fought a kat/rgn yet but it should be a close thing.

SR is, to coin a phrase "da bomb" That is to say, it's brilliant, in a tough fights your regen won't bring your health back quickly enough to save the day most of the time, the number of times I've survived since I rolled katana/SR (2 days ago) due to avoiding a killing blow in phenomenal.

I have a BS/Regen and my 50 is a Kat/Regen.

I love them both

Regen has good survivability - not GREAT, but good. Esp since it's the most nerfed secondary in the entire game.

Posted

Well, considering it was the most overpowered secondary in the game to start with, that's not such a strange thing.

My personal preference is super-reflex, because the idea of hardly EVER getting hit thoroughly appeals to me. There's nothing wrong with regen, but I just feel that being able to dodge bullets is somehow... cooler.

Oh I agree, that's why my SR is a 50 and my regen a 19. But nonetheless, in the early days, Regen was way overpowered and SR way underpowered. Regen got nerfed, SR got buffed, they're about equal now

So like..there is still not much help on the subject of SR or Regen with katan. For pvp ecspecialy any votes?
And do both have np with downtime after Stamina?

I never played a katana build, but I'm pretty sure that it goes just fine with SR. Katana's version of Parry should stack nicely with SR, and end shouldnt be too big of a problem later in the game.
Regen will have better end, but then regen always does.

For PvP? Not sure. I'm not much of a PvPer. For PvE? Regen matures a lot quicker then SR, that's for sure. But by the later lvls, my SR felt much tougher then the Regens I teamed with. I rarely died before a regen did, and it happened more then once that I kept going when my regen teammates (and even the team's tank) had died. Regen may be off to a better start, but IMO SR is more powerfull in the end.

The thing is, it's a matter of opinion, and both are amazingly good powersets. You can't go wrong either way.
