The Basics of Empathing

Be quiet Arch you'd just get ID'd at the Pocket D Bar for being so short. They'd be all "Sir are you old enough for these Greens, I'm going to need to see some Hero ID".

my emp defender levelled all the way to 50 with random teams and I can't recall of a single time that a tank died on my team... and I never ever fortied them, unless it was a team of 4 or less people.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is against the board rules but what the heck, wouldn't be the first time. I agree with a lot of your points, but the above is either a flat out lie, a statistical anomaly or you should see a doctor to have your memory checked man. You can have your eye on the tank the whole time, do your very best and the nut will still die horribly as he decides to agro the whole room in an eightman having forgotten to switch on some of his toggles or just not having taken them.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd like to know what is exactly against the board rules on that post... and about the latter part, even a fire tankw ithout tough would survive the alpha, and that is all an empath needs to keep him alive. In fact, a fire blaster can do the tanker role ion an up to 6 man team with a decent empath supporting him

This is proven with an Elec/Fire, on an 8 man team with dedicated empath. (Sure, might not always survive the alpha, but that's what Vengeance is for.) Having Taunt and a few +res shields on the blaster of course helps. But there is a difference between doing the tanker role and never dying.

Getting jumped by all the four lv 54 AVs at the same time in the STF is a good example of situations where bad things happen to good people.

I am calling you a liar, a fluke or mentally damaged in some way, I can call you up on an idea and attack your points, but actually attacking you is against the board rules.

Now I am not saying that all you and Alvan just said isn't true, seen it happen a lot of times to question the ability of a blaster tank.

What I am questioning rather strongly is that you went 50 levels as an empath teaming in PuGs and you never had your tank die horribly as they decide to do something silly. Had you told me you went 50 levels teaming with the same tank (whatever AT) and he never died on you, then I would believe you.

Lol this part reminds me of a program I saw about paranoia last night. Your name isn't Jason by any chance, is it?

A tank that does something silly will more than likely make one or several of the squishies die... a tank that does something silly and dies would just happens if the tank was doing something silly, the tank was slotted in a silly way and the empath was silly and slotted in a silly way too -I'm repeating your own words on purpose just to make sure you understand them-

Well... the true testament of healing ability would be to group with my blaster or group with BiG Rab in any form... if you can keep either of us up for a few missions then you must be the best f'in healer in the world

So you're basically calling me a silly empath, and I'm calling you a liar.

My objection is to your comment on PuGs, an empath shouldn't feel bad just because a tank went out of their way to die, it's not an imposibility even if you are a great empath.

Before you ask, yes I am very confident of my ability to play my characters which is why I object to your comments.

I have yet to find an empath or group of empaths that can keep flamin nora alive. Although her attack chain does end with RotP

Hmm all this thread is missing is a section on empaths who use binds.

Now I don't mind a '<insert buff> is ready please gather' bind, thou IMHO a good empath can feel their team enough that such lines aren't needed.

My main issue with empath binds are the ones directly linked to a power, most common are the Rez ones. "Stand up <char>, no sleeping on the job" or other more roleplaying ones. Sure it's all fun and games in good teams where almost no one dies but on a Pylon raid for instance it's very very annoying.

So pretty please with sugar on top, don't use such binds.

Alvan, stop using your binds around your thread bumping mate!

Not me. (frankly, I wouldn't be so obvious)

But maybe it would be a time to update this a bit. Almost 5000 views and things have been changing. (Also, no idea why this still keeps going)

Nah the updating right now would be in poor form imo.

Yeah. Not updating, making a whole new version.

With even more do's and don'ts.

This'll be awesome.

(Also, been doing surveys about empaths for the past week. It'll be an interesting read.)

Make sure you bookmark it too to get the number of views count up.

Edit: I said that as seeing as you mentioned it. It's of obvious importance to you. The ratio of views to posts is normal and I am a repeat offender of viewing but not to read the guide though. More than once is a sign of having Alzheimer's Disease.
