There in no denying that PvP has changed alot over the past year, this night is just for a laugh which no offence but I think your missing the point Spag, Thundorn isnt complaining about PvP just asking for a night which we can have a bit of the old days, Dont really agree with no inspirations but the general idea is something im looking forward to. May even get some new players into PvP if they are eased into things like this potentially.

The recent changes to defiance should make Blasters more playable in this sort of thing.
Anyways, in the interest of not turning this thread into a flame sesh, which i admit i may have been partly responsible for with my forum/arena smack talk.
Please dont get me wrong, i have absolutely no complaints about PvP as it is now. If i dont want to duel someone who uses phase shift etc etc, i just dont. Although i have done with some wins and some losses.
All i want to do, as a few have identified, is give less experienced People a chance to fight on more even terms, as i know a lot of people who would like to PvP but feel they dont stand a chance against these expensive uber builds.
And those more experienced Pvp'ers among us to take the oportunity to teach them, and to have fun in the process. Its not like people reputations are really on the line for this and its a good way of strengthening the bonds that a lot of the PvP community have already and increasing the likelihood of new people into this somewhat small community.
Ill be selling this idea to new players like mad. if enough people get invoved then perhaps the arena wont be the best option. All i ask is that if it does end up having to be zonal that people respect what im trying to achieve and dont interfere.

To be serious, I see a point in Thundorn's idea, but keeping in mind how I gimped my DM/regen scrapper mate with my fire/ta troller when he was out of BFs, I am not sure it would be fun or not. Worth a try maybe.

YEAH, OK. Just to clear this out. Old 'Skool y0' PvP does not exist. At least in this form of pvp you are telling us about, no insps, no god mode, [censored] you kiddin' me? That's by far not old skool pvp, thats n00b skool pvp. And no tier9s? Since when did anyone avoid to use tier9 before i9? Knight stalker is at the NEW wave of pvpers? You're serious? The dude plays from like i4 and was here when the first pvp was introduced. Anyway, what i wanted to say is that old skool pvp is not like that. The pvp you're talking about is the pvp we see at the zones with the 10 y.o kids cursing others for usings inspirations. And have fun any of you guys going there with a blaster and you're gona fight a troller. OVER YE.

If it was just pre invention style builds people would have Hami-Os. I wouldn't mind having SO matches but it would have to be pentad team matches on test. Insp allowed. I'm betting the good players would win. Having a FFA favours tanks and scrappers. No insp favours controllers. Doesn't matter if they are good players or not. As there is no skill involved.

Not surprising really, although i would have at least exepected them to appreciate when im trying to achieve, since they are the ones always moaning about not being able to get a fight. But ehn hang on, that might be because the event rules out everything that they use....

Thundorn no offence meant, this is an observation rather than a criticism, but you ain't going about this in the best possible way. Btw, we'll be in, if you want someone to steamroll.
Thundorn you forgot to rule out BG mode for MM's in this event. I'm pretty sure that only 2 AT's ( with specific powersets ) can fight head on with a MM in an inspless and god mode-less match.
Nps globey i didnt take offense, I just noticed that Your guys didnt have anything positive to say about the whole affair, stand fast Spag who acknowledged that im trying to improve the amount of PvP'ers. I get as fed up as you guys do with going into WB or RV and finding almost nobody about and then getting flamed for attacking a PvE toon in a PvP zone.
Instead of finding fault, why cant people just say, OK thundorn is trying to arrange a night of PvP with SO toons only so that people with less money or experience can actually have a go and enjoy it rather then spending all night running back from hospital until they get bored, Becasue essentially that is what im trying to do.
People arent going to try PvP unless they either have a friend in the zone egging them on, or they think that they arent going to get ganked as soon as they attack someone.
Me trying to get new people involved by levelling the playing field a bit is my focus, you can pick out of my posts whatever you want, and turn this thread, like so many others into a worthless flame session, im used to it. But surely it would be more useful to everyone who enjoys PvP to at least give it a go.
Ok so it will probably turn into a scrapper/tanker fest, but to be quite honest thats not important. Whats important is getting people who dont usually PvP interested in coming along and enjoying the atmosphere, and getting to know people.
The fact that i have chosen the name Old skool night, because i want to take IO's out of the equation is neither here nor there. I know its asking a lot from people to be positive instead of pedantic but its not like im trying to get people to take their main toon, drop all their set bonuses and let newbies beat them up on the main server is it.
I've only seen Gatling and Knight Stalker not accept the challenge so far. Funny how they actually won a PvP competition hosted by NcSOFT when there were no IOs.
I'd rather have it in the arena on test so there are no hospitals or running into a base. Its faster and people can watch if they want. Plus you get the score at the end so you can see if you beat the good players or not.
I'll pop along for a laugh if I get a couple more levels on my brute.

I was never a fan of FFAs personally, more of a team man, I just thought what's the point in levelling a Duelling/solo toon if it can still be easily beaten by a different one. All of my toons would totally suck in FFA.
I like to hide in teams to disguise my inability.

Yeah Thundorn everyone can see mate your trying to increase the number of people participating in PvP, i'm sure everyone appreciates that, as it's not an easy thing to do. As for the SO thing, making everyone on an even playing field, does seem like a good idea to encourage people to come along. However, I think the idea about no inspirations just counter acts what you are trying to achieve in making it fair for everyone. If it was SO builds then fine, i'd happily join with a toon I have still SO'd. (I know what i'm trying to say, you might not though lol)

Nonsense, really. Tell me HOW is our newbie blaster who want to start pvping is going to feel when get slapped by a dominator/controller 10-0. The only SO'd idea is fair imo for old school.
