HAMIDON..where are you??
question the first, Hami has to be spawned by killing the Hive GM's
question the second, in terms of raids, since they made hami stupidly hard, pretty much guaranteed a large amount of debt, with very little of that being offset by the reward for beating him, its too much hassle for everyone.
I suggested organising a raid on Union Badgehunters, which we might still do...

I thought about doing a Hamidon Raid the other day as i know of a few people that joined the game and reached 50 since the last Hamidon Raid was held. I want to sort out my internet connection before i take on the stress of leading 50 people to certain doom though.
Tsu's pretty much nailed it.
The Issue 9 Hamidon revision was well intended, but it has backfired quite catastrophically in terms of the amount of raids ongoing, which is odd considering it was apparently improved under player comments/concerns about exploitation.
The raids were admittably waaaay too easy - now they are ridicuously hard,
The raids used to be a big looked forward to community event - (even if we did have to put up with the lag), it was great to have tons of players in one place, now people comment in-game they miss the get-together that was a Hami-Raid.
The Rewards are not equal to the amount of debt acculmilated and I think before it took a little under two hours to beat him to a pulp, now you can pretty much kiss goodbye to your entire night as you'll spend it grinding away in the Hive.
Realistically, I think it has to be made easier if its to be used more, or alternatively, considering the effort put in: enable level 53 Hami's for level 50's taking place in the raid. Lets face it if they went on auction the prices would be beyond astronomical and I really can't think of much less than that enticing a Lv5O back into the Hive if it was the reward they were after.
Pity really, I used to love the spirit of those raids.
Anyone know if Stateside the raid is as popular anymore?, and also (importantly) whether Cryptic have had any feedback on it and noticed if players are not bothering anymore?.
I still think Hamidon would be better off as some kind of tentacled mutant beast ( kinda like the sewer hydra but more DE style ) but even so, the old raid with some of the new features parhaps would be better, the new way is just lame.

I'd really like to get into a Hami raid. Never managed to get one done.
The solution is actually very simple. Add some badges to defeating hamidon like they did for the RWZ GM and everybody will be rushing to get them
It would probably be called "never going back to the Hive" or something, most people would get it then say never again!

I think a badge for defeating him in the future would entice people back for one raid, If there was an accolade linked to say 10 times.... then I can see the hardcore badgers having a crack at it, If you're talking about a progress bar for something that is soooo hard currently I really don't think people will bother - just like most people realistically are not going to attain the 'Leader' or 'Empath' badges.
I think you really need to play to the two things that most people are interested in when on a raid - usually: a):making your character more powerful than the nextguy or b): getting or selling the Hami reward to get obsene amounts of Influence to buy forementioned power or whatever else they need for their build/alts.
If you want a great enjoyable experience I'm afraid you've missed the boat, that was pre I:9, now of course its still an experience only now more akin to sticking your finger in an electrical socket for a laugh.
they need to do something really, if they do an accolade for beating Hami, it needs to be something worth putting the time in for!

I have already suggested a solution in order to make the reward fits the difficulty.
Make every Mithocondria drop either a rare salvage piece or a rare recipe, and reward the defeat of Hamidon with a super temp power such as a Mitho pet!
mito pet wouldnt be to good, it would just stay there so only good for one mob really, main problem for raids it's seem is getting 50 people who are willing to see it through, defeating hamidon is really quite easy, finding the strength to carry on throughout a battle that seems impossible is much harder.
first raid had about 40 odd people leavign and and being replaced altogether, which made it harder nd harder as many didnt have EoEs or any idea what they were doing.
Maybe if you wouldn't have to do cycle of defeating the mito's multiple times, it would be more appealing. Then I wouldn't mind the first round to be a little harder or longer. If he's down, he stays down.
Has Onion only had the one successful raid?

since they made him much harder to raid yes, i think there has only been one raid. Before that a certain Muffin toting someone had us ganking him every friday!

hah it's easy to entice people back...
Once you defeat Hamidon you get a mini-hamidon as a non-combat pet to wobbly follow you around and grant a Hamidon gladiator badge...just for giggles.
Badge Earned: Wing Clipper
A real showstopper!

It was every night in the weeks before I9 went live.
I'm glad they reduced the amount of players needed and put a cap on it, but the tactics and organisation required is abit much for casual players. At the moment the reason why Hami raids take so long is because they take ages to get setup and rolling, plus multiple restarts having got no where. Beating up hamidon doesn't take long at all.
*Not read full thread*
On the reward front I think they should maybe introduce more: costume pieces for example. Or after a certain time of taking Hami down as well as getting the Hami-O maybe get an new shiney Aura, Badge, Cape styles, Rare IOs or even a Temp' Power - Could take a little bit of thinking and alot more implimentation but if it brings the old Hami raid community back then I think it is completely worth it.
Each person in this thread could be a team leader with a specific hami raid toon, one that can team tp and/or group fly (but with grp fly you can prolly know a PB). You can then have each team get in, do a certain stage and get out before anyone is defeated, then go back in and do another stage. You could have 1 team make a start on a mito, get out before its too late and have another team finish it. 7 set leaders who are well aware of what the other leaders are doing each have teams of 8 to lead. You look out for your own team and be ready to follow on or act with another leaders team. 7 sg ldrs could get 7 ppl each from their own sgs and work on it on test where debt dont matter and then start doing it live often and fast at secret times on hide even so that you dont have spoilers. I am never around and am on call so to speak to even get involved.

So all this chat, who's up for Hami?

I AM I AM I AM I AM!!!
I agree they need to do something that makes it much more appealing. 53 Hami's, Badge, pets whatever it is it needs to appeal to the 5-10% of the population that can get there
Having said that, Pre I9 was such such fun, logging on just a few weeks before I9 and seeing a raid EVERY NIGHT was heaven! The atmosphere was brilliant and the more we did it the more people got involved and didn't just stand there for the hami-o at the end (you know who you are... *evil stare*)
We have to do this again if only to try and rekindle the atmosphere that held us onions together before.
Hami is the secret antidote to the doomsaying going on up in General Discussion!
Well, it'll be quite specific invite-wise as the 50 peeps cap means no room for slackers & leechers.

I'm game for the Hami - I'll be doing it as a Newbie and for the experience, just give me a little bit to reach lvl 50.
What about doing it as a regular thing and for some newbies at that lvl?

[/ QUOTE ]No, they aren't. The Infinity Hamidon channel once had the message "Nothing to see here" and now has a message expanding to find taskforce memebers for the high-end States and Recluse TF/SF as well as Rikti-raids.
To me there was only two problems with Hamidon before Yellow Dawn and the mass-lag of 200 players descending on the Hive. They got rid of the Yellow Dawn and replaced it with three White Dawns instead (somewhat irritating but at least they can be killed).
It was mentioned in the other thread about how the dev team would be keeping their eyes on Hami and adjusting him accordingly. The question will be when?

Hey All...anyone know why Hamidon hasnt spawned for AGES....and why there hasnt been a raid for ages either... :P
