Withdraw /Regen

Hi there
I was making a new toon for a team the other day, Katana/Regeneration Scrapper, and all of a sudden, well not that sudden-lvl 6 in fact, realised that every time I used Reconstruction/Dull Pain I had to redraw my Katana, is this just in my mind or am I really seeing this?

If Reconstruction (and other toggle heals) causes attack powers to withdraw weapons, does this affect all of them? (Katana (my experience - yes), Spines? Broadsword? Claws?)

Maybe it's obvious that toggle heals withdraw attack power weapons, but this is the first time I've tried a weaponed /Regen. Maybe I need to look at another secondary!

Dark Armour would also make you reward when you hit Dark Regen, and Invul would when you used Dull Pain (I think) so that only leaves SR and I'm not 100% sure that Practised Brawler doesn't cause a redraw (as my SR is weaponlesS)

Its meant to be the downside of the weapon sets and you do get an acc bonus in return but I understand its a pain (/TA control had me cursing redraws often)

with SR you need to redraw too

However, it's worth noting that animation times are exactly the same whether your katana is drawn or not. Using powers that put your katana away does not penalise you.

If your katana is not drawn and you use an attack, the animation is draw + attack

If the katana is drawn, the animation is attack and there's a pause. And the length of the pause is the same as the time it takes to draw.

Something I notice about redrawing a weapon (with Broadsword at least) is that the pause after that first attack is gone if you set up a second attack while the first is animating.
For example:
Air Superiority > Draw + Hack > Headsplitter.
Between Hack and Headsplitter there is no visible pause, the animations flow smoothly allowing two attacks in a very short space of time. With the example above any mob knocked down by Air Sup' will not be properly back on his feet by the time Headsplitter lands.

I've tried this with combinations of all the Broadsword attacks and it holds true for any combination that uses Hack, Slash, Slice or Parry as the draw attack, the remaining three attacks put the character too far "out of stance" for it to work. I'd be interested to know if this holds true for other hand weapons.

Aaaaah, I see! From the title I'd taken this to be a "Regen is too uber, and should be completely removed from the game" thread.

I'd just popped in to warm myself from the flames.

For those wondering about Practiced Brawler, my Spines/SR has to re-'pop' his spines when it fires. Still got a cool pose with it though.

No, keep it but restrict /Regen Scrappers so that they can only fight Carnies. Sounds fair to me!

No, keep it but restrict /Regen Scrappers so that they can only fight Carnies. Sounds fair to me!

Nah, keep regens as they are, just tweak the system and make every alpha strike in game directed to them.
