I mostly do my missions solo, killing all the enemies to gain all the xp and get all their drops.
It takes a while, but it seems like the best thing to do. Is it?

No. In this game, you sometimes get more exp when you're teamed.
I don't have the exact numbers, but for example :
Solo, you'd gain 100% of the exp.
In a duo, each of you would gain 120%/2 (= 60%) instead of 100%... and as you're 2, you're supposed to kill faster.
And so on... in a team of 8 I believe it's something like 250% xp that's being divided between team members.
If you can get a good team of 5-6 players (no boss spawning except for the final one - bosses are bad XP compared to lieuts/minions), leveling goes fast.
Soloing can be very efficient too, but you'd have to min/max your build some. Even if you team often, it'd be better if you min/max a bit ; many people pretend they don't min/max, but fact is when you check builds you see 99% people with Stamina, many with Hasten, and you don't see many people with gimp powers. So ultimately, it's good to take a look around on these boards (or the US ones) for build advice, or ask people in-game for slotting advice/general power choices.
Powerleveling for money and/or Companies that sell accounts and offer other powerleveling services are all illegal IIRC. Simply, find a team (in CoV you will need some extra patience). Stalkers can solo Relentless papers from lvl 12-14. I know many stalkers that solo'd all the way to 50. First with paper missions and then with Warburg missions. We also now got Rikti missions, which i havent tried yet, so i dont know what xp/bonus they give.
I mostly soloed in the lower levels, or usually duoed. If you go solo then you need to learn the art of ghosting. Paper missions where you have to defeat X are great exp earners, but dull. Just hide to the end, smack the boss and his guards about and leave. Otherwise, doing normal missions in the same kinda way works great too. If its a steal/plant/find glowie type mish, just find the glowie, click it and try not to get spotted or take the spawn out around it. Short of kidknap and rescue mishs, you can do contact mishs very fast. Dont bother taking out the whole place, just not worth it. Take out a lone LT with an BU+AS for some easy exp. Also setting the diff to vicious means you get red bosses and orange lts, which makes it a lot better exp when you can still take em out fast enough.
My advice, if solo, ghost it unless its a kidknap/rescue mish. Learn who is good to duo with (other stalkers are great, otherwise MMs are often a fave then domis. Stay away from brutes and corrs unless on a bigger team).
If you on Union, hit me up @Mr Toxedo
Someone is asking how to powerlevel and nobody has told him yet to just enjoy the game? Oh my.. :P
Some good advice has been given here. But hey its not a race, you can take it as slow as you want to,aslong as you like your character that all that counts here.
Ghosting missions in the early part is a very good XP earner when your done on to the next. When you have a full attack chain taking out a group of 4 minions LTs etc will be nothing to you.
Just keep at it and remember to enjoy the game as you progress up to the higher levels.I have a MM that i am levelling up now on union and if you want to team give me a call my global is @TipTop and we will do a few levels together.I am sure we will have a few fun moments aswell.

If you read the OP you can see the guy is mostly just wanting to learn how to level faster, not necessarily be put to 50 overnight, fair enough "Powerlevel" is the wrong term to use, but English is probably not their Native Language, given they said something about Scandanavia, so using the wrong term is perfectly acceptable.
Overgaming maybe is the right term.
I have the same question as the original poster and none of you have really provided anything like a helpful anbswer.
Look, the question is this. Those of us whon have low level stalkers in CoV find it very slow to solo conventionally - ie by doing the story arcs by ourselves.
However, it is also quite difficult to find teams - perhaps because we play during the day, perhaps because stalkers are not immediately team-members of choice ect.
We have heard that just doing paper missions - the steal/kill options rather than the kidnap options - mean you can earn Xp faster.
However, having started doing those paper missions, we find that the Xp gain is really just as slow. Therefore, we assume that we may be doing something wrong on those paper missions. So the real question is:
- How does a stalker do paper missions to optimise Xp gain? Please give your tips, techniques and experiences.

Concentrate on "defeat X and his minions" missions. Stealth to the end of map and just clear the room (beat the boss mob) to finish the mission.
The xp gain comes from the mission finish reward, not the mobs.
Buy defense insps, so you can crank the mission difficulty to maximum and kill the boss mob when you have 4 defense insps running. (accuracy and damage may help as well, experiment) Also, at very low level, you can just wait for hide to kick in and use assassin strike repeatedly since they arent going to hit thru 4 defense insps.
At max difficulty the mission reward is very good. It all comes down to how fast and safely you can beat the bosses.
Ugh.. Well Im no friend to fast leveling but this is how I did it. This method is also boring as hell in the long run.. And after level 30ish the progress slows. Also you arent earning very good inf since you kill relatively few mobs.
I played from 1 to 29 in about 5 evenings, dunno what's slow in your xp gain..
ps. Ill never do that again..
Excellent full answer from Hammerfall.
Just one thing, if I am only doing paper-missions - never Bank Jobs, waste of a time for a stalker, right? - where do I get inspirations from since I never get any new contacts?

I do this to all of my stalkers :
Level by papers till sharkhead time. Then i do 1 mayhem, get a contact and leave it there so i can get inspis, then rush papers, run to inspis, again.
Shameless plug time. Check the guide out in my sig. Hopefully some usefull advice there about lvling a PvE stalker.
Doing papers is dull. Very very dull. But the exp is fast when you ghost and kill what you need. I just find this takes more out of the gameplay though, and so lvling just seems to take longer. Doing arcs, reading the text (try and spot the funny stuff, lots there) and generally enjoying the gameplay experience will make lvling seem faster. Also, joining a team makes it go faster too.
Also Banks are great fun on a stalker, lower the diff to Vic for an easier run, to the side mishs, take the ambushes as they come, and take your time. They become very very easy when you get used to them.
Otherwise my advice is this. Think about the journey, not just the destination.

Do Paper Missions. Get Mayhem mission from Broker. Enter Mayhem mission. 15 min. timer starts. Leave Mayhem mission. Start doing paper missions again. When Mayhem mission timer finishes (i.e. Mission Failed) return to broker who will give you a contact. (He gives a new contact even if you fail the Mayhem mission). Rinse and repeat until broker gives you no more contacts. At this point you can just refuse to do the Mayhem mission and then continue with paper missions.
To start off with always do the Atlas and King Row Mayhem missions to get the temp. travel powers.
In Port Oaks you can get insps. from the Arena.
I have never tried to level up like this though as the boredom would probably kill me.
Union/Defiant
@Wistaria.
@Dark Relic
never say never
Ps. You dont have to successfully complete a mayhem to get introduced to new contact.
I usually go for the odd paper misson and then follow a story arc as you will get the story arc bonus. Mayhems are worth doing aswell as it tends to be done on your time, In other words no real reason to rush you can clear the whole map if your a decent enough stalker. I find continualy doing paper missions makes you very bored of the game so variety is always good.
Teams are good for xp gain but then again most teams never ask my stalker to team yet they will always ask my Dom or Corr, Odd that really as a stalker has many uses. Anyhow rule of thumb is don't get stuck into the same grind of kill B and A then steal C....it's like watching paint dry when your doing the same thing, Even though the targets have a different name.
One of the leaders of the Harlequins villain group and currently on defiant.
Stalkers can be very useful in a team. It is just that because the stalkers very nature is centered around avoiding aggro, people get peeved when stalkers arent 'carrying their share of the combined team tanking'. As damagedealers stalkers are useful. They just dont draw and carry aggro the way scrappers do.
When soloing my stalker I tend to sort of stealth the maps, but stop and kill a group whenever AS and build up are recharged (which will let me take out a group in just a very few seconds) then hide again etc.
I don't tend to stick to paper missions (too boring apart from anything else) and found that it's actually not a bad way to trundle through content. If you run arc missions, in addition to being a little more interesting, you also get "end of arc" bonuses, which do give a fair amount of experience. I seem to remember levelling quite quickly on that one soloing up to about level 30ish, when I think I may have accidently made another corruptor and got side tracked.
The best way to level a stalker, imo, is with a duo. Make 2 stalkers with a friend and start relentless from level 8. I actually do that now and i am lvl 25 in no time. Ghosting papers is dull i gota say, but still best to lvl (Farm is better though) If you wanna pvp fast.
Yeah and that's the best way to play the game!
Don't even try to enjoy the journey, just only think of getting as many lvls as fast as possible while being unable to hit most mobs on relentless till you got some decent SO/IO slotting...
But in this stream of thoughts it's prolly even much more fun and surely absolutely more exciting to buy a lvl 50 on e-bay for i dunno let's guess $50,- ?

Ah ok, well i'd rather play through relentless missions than buy 50s from E-bay which seems to be cool for you.
edit : oh and
Mind you, Aranos could barely afford to buy the level 50 toon for £50... But when we get to paying the monthly sub for having it available to play that's where his wallet goes empty

Heyhey!
It's like this, I've been playing for over a month now when its the rainperiod here in Scandinavia and I'm only lvl 14.
So I've started to think, why is it going so slow?
I mostly do my missions solo, killing all the enemies to gain all the xp and get all their drops.
It takes a while, but it seems like the best thing to do. Is it?
I played with a fellow stalker in my SG who said it was best to do papermissions with someone that was suppose to die and just go hidden and kill him and then be done.
It was nice when I did it with him, gained about 300 xp/mission. But when I do it on my own I get like 100 xp, and thats like 4 enemies.
So how do you guys and gals do to level faster?
If you have like a powerlevling guide I would like to read it, very much. But the only thing I found on google was how to lvl a hero, and companies selling powerlevling servicec :/
