How bad is fallout?

I'm thinking of maybe respeccing fallout in on my dark/rad corrupter. I know there's a lot of bad talk about it and from my own short experience with it on my troller i found it dissappointing indeed... but at the time it had no extra slotting as i only wanted a quick look at the power for fun and respecced it out asap.

On paper it looks very nice -apart from the need for a dead ally. Damage like a proper nuke and the obvious awesome debuffs.
On my little adventure with it (1 slot of accu) i found the radius pretty poor and the dam very dissappointing.

Theres (almost) no one around actually having this power...
So i wonder if anyone can share some thorough opinions about it on here?

Have it on both my Rad based toons. True it is very situational, but coupled with vengeance it makes an awesome buff/debuff combo. I like the power; it generally forms part of an elfling alpha on AVs (send in the blaster to suicide herself, everyone else piles on- I hit veng/ fallout, AV falls down fast). Also handy on Mako when he's being an [censored] in States TF.
I slot it with 1 acc, 3 dam and 2 hami lysosomes in it.

Good question this.

My 2 inf.

Firstly, its the worst power in the radiation set. However, that is praising it with faint damnation really. The rest of the set varies from spectacular (LR, EF, RI) to average (Radiant Aura, Mutate, EMP) with the excellent Choking Cloud and Accelerate Metabolism inbetween. The problem with Rad is there are so many great powers.

*ahem* anyway

My advice is to take it at level 49, and leave it slotted with 1 accuracy.

I dont use it for damage (although its a respectable whallop). I almost always use it for its debuff effects.

It usually only gets a shine on an AV mission. The damage is small fry vs an AV, but the debuff a) really takes the sting out of the AV and b) allows you several seconds of HARD pummeling.

I did the STF with my rad fender a week ago. I seriously doubt we would have succeeded without Fallout. Ghost Widow was laughing at us. Even with all my debuffs (NB: I was only debuffer in team) we just couldnt make a respectable dent in her HP - when we did she healed. We just about had her at perpetual status quo.

However, every death in the team and it was mutate + vengance. Even with this, we didnt really make headway - slight gains but then back to status quo again.

When I used fallout, however, we had several solid seconds when we could really pummel her and she missed with her heals.

My suspect (no way of knowing) that without Fallout we would have given up.

For the price of one solitary slot, It was an star power. I have always been, on balance, in favour of fallout, but now I am certain I am keeping it. At level 50, its only AVs that can really kick a team in the happy sacs, and Fallout seriously helps.

The best AoE hold in game "average"?????? No sir!!!!

Fallout IS the worst power in rad, followed by choking cloud. Both those powers are the worst by a huge gap imo

I would agree with that. Whilst my rad defender doesn't have Fallout my mind/rad controller (who is built for the STF) does. I find the Vengeance-Fallout-Mutation combo to be quite effective on pick up teams when fighting the AVs.

Sounds like a nice power, if situational, just no room for it when defender epics are so good

Cheers for replies folks.
So it seems the agreement here on fallout confirms the rumours it being bad. Still on paper it looks bloody neat.
Funny how reality and theory can be so contradictory.

I'm still tempted to take up Fallout tbh, despite all the agreement on it being the sucks. My stubborn nature just can't accept the that while it looks awesome on paper in reality it's gimpy.

More opinions please!

BTW EMP really is the greatest AoE hold in the game -or volcanic gasses. Hmmmm ... but let's stay on the subject

Oh how it bugs me when people dont recognise how truely amazing EMP is. All the controller sets I've tried have such weak AoE holds compared to it, and EMP drains end too.

That said I also like CC a lot too. Its no EMP but its something to use while its recharging at least

I've got it, and it's awesome.

Then again, most people in my friends group have 2 accounts, so we can afford to let someone perma-dead.

Nuke-level damage, -50% res/dam/acc/def debuff... awesome power.

So, normal play, not so good... if you play with suicidal friends or at 50, it can be great (no debt at 50, it's easy to get people to suicide ).

Well here's my view,

My Rad has this power and I wanted to play with a little bit of slotting. We have a regualr team and a quiet suicidal and aggro friendly Blaster & PB which fuels this power on a semi regular basis. In PvE with it slotted using the dead ally as to buff vengance off of then to fire off the nuke if you can train people to drop in the middle of a horde of NPC's it can really smash a big hole in them.

As said on a number of occasions it is very situational, so if you can spare having a rarely used power then please pick it up, if you have vengance I think it couples with this even more and gives it mroe justice to take.

PvP - well i've used it a couple of times to some use in SC including getting a fast vengance to nuke while several stalkers pick off the empath.. It's quiet a sight to see it hit over players and the debuff's/damage it can do. Very tough to get a hit in and for it to be effective but hilarious if it does

Well theres my mad ramblings about it!

Lol i think it is a great power but u will have to resist the urge to let a team mate die from time to time.
My first Rad/Rad had it an Cancer Boy is getting it as well.

i had it, respec'd it out though, might get it back at a later date, but emp is gonna be my next power

Should update. Done the STF twice now with my rad defender. On the first run we would not have suceeded without fallout, in the second it was extremely helpful.

Forget the damage. Its a massive debuff that really helps hammer those +4 AVs.

If you are considering the STF, I would highly recommend this as the "filler" power at level 49. Its quite handy just 1 slotted for accuracy, but if you really want overkill you could 2 slot acc and maybe a recharge. Mines just 1 acc and it really, really helped.
