PvP harrassment?

Ok, basically I'm in RV. I lnow it's a pvp zone etc, but i'm getting griefed by a one particular hero. And tonight that player even switched alts just to kill me. This character keeps going JUST for me, and he says it's just because i'm a stalker... ¬_¬ even with 5 other villians in the zone. They even attack him and he runs away!!!

And everyone else goes along with the 'farming no pvp' thing, where if some says they're farming turrets etc, no-one on the other side engages in pvp with them. I've said that i'm farming but still this guys goes for me... It's really getting beyond a joke, i did send a e-mail to the 'suport' people, and their reply was simple put, "it's a pvp zone, what do you expect". I admit i've been an asss in the past, but i've learned to respect other players wishes in RV.

Also i'd like to add that everyone else who's met this character, both hero and villian side, have said he's a bit of a dick....

And i'm not mentioning the name on here either, he's the one being vindictive, and if your on Defiant server, you may come across him eventually.

Much as what he's doing is annoying you, there really aint anything you can do, it is a pvp zone.

Best to get a few mates and take revenge

a.) If you can prove that he is going specifically after you personally with the intention of griefing then you can petition, with chat logs for instance. Iirc that used to be pretty much the only type of behaviour petitionable in a pvp zone, but normally a lot different behaviour is allowed in a pvp zone than in a normal one.

Would make me attack you as well. Those who do not attack you are just other farmers. Thats all there is to it - there is no excuse to avoid pvp in a pvp zone. Stat. Personally I hate farmers who refuse to fight, and I hate RV as it is.

edit: swearing and verbal harassment is always petitionable though.

Don't come to a PvP zone if you don't want to PvP. It is as simple as that.

Stating you're in RV to farm is just another way of saying, "I am an easy target because I'm distracted". The same way support classes seem to be taken out first in PvP battles - go for the easiest kill.

If you want to farm, you should bring big/powerful enough group of farmers to make people think twice before attacking you.

Fix that part and the rest of the problem should fall into place
Try to make an ice/cold corruptor or dominator friend who likes to pvp, /traps may be useful as well, especially if he only has superjump.

your in a PvP zone so your going to get hunted, being a stalker and proberly having had your fun in the zones up to now this toon how ever much its is annoying is proberly trying to exact some revenge now thay can..if it becoming abusive then report him, if he is just hunting any stalkers that come into the zone tough!! either fight or dont come to a PvP zone.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I think the solution is just getting more friends to help smack him down something brutal.

That said, I'd LOVE to have an in-game nemesis. There would just be something awesome to KNOWING there was another human being out there out to get just me.

If you genuinely feel that the player in question is deliberately harassing you, please /petition with details.

However, please bear in mind that players engaging in PvP in a PvP zone is not, in and of itself, a violation of the EULA. On the contrary, it's what the zones are designed for.

If you enter a PvP zone, you are consenting to PvP. You are of course free to ask people not to fight you, and they are free to choose not to if they wish. They are also, however, free to choose to ignore your request.

The PvP zones are just that - zones designed for PvP play. If do not wish to engage (or be engaged) in PvP, please do not enter the zones.

fair do's. there's like other tiny things that come into it, but i'll guess i'll leave it as it is.

How do i keep chat logs though? Do i just do screenies?

And for the record too, i do enjoy a good pvp session now and again. Had a great one with a scrapper in Warburg the other day. And i guess one fo the details is with the guy i'm on about in RV, takes me down in 3 moves, whihc is done in about 7 seconds

There's an option to store chat logs under the general options if I remember right. I just stores loads of little text files, they're quite usefull for reference or if you want to contact someone you were talking to but forgot their name.

But yup, there are an awful lot of jerks you'll come across in PvP who will:
1. Only go after the squishiest character, regardless of how many times they've killed them, who else is in the zone or even if the timer for getting more rep from the kill has reset. It's really a case of beating a dead horse since there's just no point to it.
2. Refuse to take you one-on-one, running away when you try to engage them as such, but regularly comming at you when they have someone else with them.
3. Will only attack you when you're already fighting some of the non-player enemies, often resulting in you getting debt.

The funny thing is that they'll often be the first to complain when you finally figure out ways to ruin their time in the PvP zone.

Our GMs have access to full logs. There is no need to supply logs or screenshots of chat windows - the time, zone and name(s) of the involved player(s) are normally more than enough for them to pinpoint the relevant section.

Unfortunately, in a class-based game system like City of Heroes and Villains, there will always be a strong element of 'rock, paper, scissors' in 1v1 PvP. There's simply no way to avoid this without blurring the lines between the ATs to the point where they lose their distinctiveness.

This is why PvP in CoH/V is geared so strongly towards team play (which is also, in my personal opinion, a lot more fun).

Well, i've learned of a way around all this. I'm hopefully getting a recipe for one of those stealth moves thing, where it grants for 120 seconds! And i'm gonna attach it to fly!! So he shouldn't see me anymore hopefullys!!!

It is easier to supply the GMs with an accurate time if you use the chatlog or take a screenshot, though, as both of those contain that info. (Provided you have set the clock of your PC correctly, of course.)

Keep chat logs is done by simply turning on an option within the game settings.

lol Chat logs can be edited in Notepad, not very reliable.

So what?

Practise more, what on earth has that got , or the amount of times he kills you in 3 secs/moves got to do with griefing you?

Thats what pvp zones are for, farm missions or sf's why even go to rv to farm?

Well in my opinion team pvp is much more out of balance than 1v1.. Take the test server fight nights for instance, usual situation would be that the other team ended up dominating the other even if the teams were done at the spot for each fight differently by experienced PVPers.. When I do 1v1 PVP I at least know my limits and I know what I can do and I know when I have no chance. As a rule of thumb for instance a team without support toons has about 0.001% chance against a team with support toons, given relatively equal fighting skills. Such reliance on the team makeup is pretty much same as reliance in the character powersets and build of a single toon in 1v1.

That said, I love how pvp is created in this game, balance however remains elusive and sometimes I get annoyed at constant promotion of team pvp. Its hard enough to get enough people to even form a bloody team.

7 seconds for 3 moves? well he's not energy melee then..

Then again seeing that you are a stalker, there is at least a possibility of taking him down in 2 hits

he's still a slippery sausage though. When i get me stealth, i WILL AS him, and soul storm to immobolize... thenhe's mine.....

How does one practise then? And i go to RV as i'm a bit of a lazy sod at times and just send the heavy in. Sometimes it's great when we get a good fed villians, and we take on the Hero's. We killed manticore once... was GRAND!!!! But that's not for this forum

You can practise and test in arena what works against what. Particularly how well you can stealth for instance.

Yep, so they are not a piece of evidence, which I never claimed. Look at what I said:

Each line in the chatlog is preceded by a timestamp. That way you can say in your petition "XXX said 'YYY' to me at 11.47 AM CET", rather than "XXX said something bad to me somewhere around noon". Then the GM can look in his log at 11.47 for the phrase YYY, rather than scan through a few hours worth of logs after something bad....

So if the thing is found in the log, basically what happens? I'm curious, do people get a warning? Do they get to defend themselves, cuz obviously there's 2 sides to an arguement.

Although you're not breaking any rule, you're exploiting the system by getting riskless xp/salvage/inf/prestige/recipe with your Heavy, and you post complaining about someone attacking you in a pvp zone ?

Some people have no shame.
