which gives more defense? Im an Elec/Elec blaster and need some defense. Which should i choose? forgetting the team +def of leadership pool, which will give ME the best def?

Not sure on these, but 2.75% on Manoveours (sp) and 1.25% on Stealth?

Those figures look about right and to be honest don't offer much to mitigate the damage.

I took Aid Self to stay alive on my Fire/Fire Blaster and have found it to be very, very useful - even more so now with PFF from the Force Mastery set.

You wont get any defense to speak of from those pools, or anywhere else for that matter until you get to 41 and open epic pools. Think their buffs are like 2,5%-5% defense unslotted. Before level 41 I suggest you invest into medicine pool and get aid self 6 slotted. And then learn how to use aid self most efficiently, it requires a bit of skill to use it in combat

Yes its pretty difficult, press the button, and then carry on fighting.

I take it you don't have a clue how Aid Self works then?

Haha indeed. Well just look at his name...

Or, If you team a lot, get assault instead. Aid Self is, ultimately, an inefficient "buy" for a blaster unless you plan on PvP or a fair bit of solo.

Or, like my old grandmother always said: "The best defense is a good offense."
If you really need defense you have already made the first mistake: You left enemies alive/unarrested.

If it has
eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.

get aid self. There is noo way you can amass a worthwhile amount of defence even by stacking all the defence giving pool powers.

Still inefficient use of powers/slots for a blaster. Only worth it for solo'ists and PvPers. A team blaster will get fair more bang for his buck from damage damage damage.

Mind you, aid self is better than eking out the very low defence bonus from CJ/Weave/Manuevers.

Blasters are glass cannons really. Its very hard to play them otherwise. The only effective way to bolster up your personal defence is probably to take ice secondary (or ice primary come to that) and use its control/slow options to reduce incoming damage. Or use the stuns/holds of your other sets (all except fire have them, but ice/cold has the most).

[/ QUOTE ]Dedicating two power slots for aid self really doesn't sacrifice damage all that much.

Also, even if you team, there's not always support chars available to team with.

The defence boosts from most of the open pools are poor...but don't overlook the "stealth" aspeect of the Stealth pool.

If you solo to any reasonable degree....invisibilty and glowies to click is a great thing for a superfast completion on a mission.

Need to kill a boss but don't want to/have time to kill your way through the crowds to get to him? Invisibilty and race right to the target...find a nice spot...and blow his head off....err I mean arrest him.

Invis can really help you speed through a mission...except the arrest all bad guys types.
