Thanks for the info.....looks like Weave will be a good option too..every little will help for surviving those alphas
-
Just a quick question..
Does Divine Avalanche stack?
Basically I'm wondering if it's worth getting Weave on my Kat/regen.
I've got hasten and with a couple of recharge reducers in DA it's up lots -
Anyone got the defence values on the SR passives to hand?
I'm at work and don't have MIDs to hand....boss would kill me downloading that -
Hmmm ok..I can see that burn could be useful...ok very useful sometimes
I will still stand by my 3 slotted hover for KB protection...it's plenty quick enough. -
My fire/fire tank seems to do pretty well in just about all situations.
I took flight for travel...and have 2 slotted hover with speed (will be 3 by the time i hit 50)...2 SOs speed in hover make it close to normal run speed and solves the KB problem nicely.
Ok..so i get flipped end over end in mid air a lot...but it doesn't stop me using powers while I spin
Tough seems pretty essential for me....and so does stamina, consume is just plain wonderful...as I run 5 toggles usually in combat.
Taunt plus fiery aura with a taunt SO in it means that I hold aggro pretty effectively...then throw in a couple of nice PBAOEs and you have a nice tight group of nasties all ready to bake.
Fire/fire is fun/fun .... just be prepared to ignore your 2 final powers, Burn and Rise of the Phoenix as they are of very limited use...which is a real shame and the only down side to the whole thing. -
Thanks for the info folks.
Assault and Tactics does sound handy.....but that's 2 powers I could use somewhere else.
I'm pure PvE.....I can't stand the PvP in this game....so tactics isn't such a big consideration for me.
My secondary is dark so I'll have a few toggles to run anyway by the time I get my build developed -
Was just wondering how peple are slotting their ninjas. I've just hit lvl 22 and was wondering if 1 SO acc will be adequate?
I was thinking about 1 Acc, 3 Dam and 2 Disorient -
I'd like to throw Mango Chutney into the equation....and also honey.
A honey fight in honey....sounds good -
I have an Ice/Emp troller and found it to be a lot of fun...once you get iceslick the world's your oyster
I never had a problem soloing on heroic at any stage....currently lvl 35 and still solo fine.
Ice is nice -
AR/Ice is my current blaster fave, currently at lvl 24.
I've taken ALL my attacks up to flamethrower so far..apart from Beanbag, which I plan on grabbing at 28. Ice...I've added buildup and icepatch to the mandatory immobilise.
Throw in stamina, health and quick from fitness, with hover and fly.
So far it's been extremely effective and fun....plenty of AOE for fast killing, plenty of KB for defence. Now I've got icepatch I'm even more lethal....pull with snipe....duck round corner and drop icepatch....bad guys run round and start doing flopsy....BU plus flamethrower and shotgun kills off the minions...LTs and boss still flopping...M30 should fininsh the LTs...may need Slug to finish one off...dop icepatch again and then snipe/slug and flamethrower again if needed on the boss.
All nice and safe and controlled.
Looking forward to lvl 26 and Ignite..or is that 28? No matter...26 and 28 will be beanbag and ignite in some order.
32 is obviously full-auto....making it a pretty full house on the attack powers.....I know somebody will advise against dropping some with a respec....but I really like the option of having exactly the right tool for any job.
So far nothing short of an AV has stopped me solo...elite bosses are fine...either cryo armour and wedding band..or more usually I just grab 5 purples when I know I have a mish with an EB.....I pop 3 for the start of the fight...and the other 2 near the end if I won't drop him before the original 3 wear off.
I figure icepatch will make it even easier now that I've picked that up.
Gotta love the flamethrower
Been thinking about trying to work in aid other and aid self....but I'll see...I might drop burst and pick up aid other at a low level and aid self at 26/28 rather than beanbag.....decisions, decisions
The main issue for me is the terrible graphics of the AR gun itself...we need a cooler gun...something a bit more high-tech and streamlined....rather than the silly clunky cross between a tommy gun and a super soaker. -
Ice/ice is great solo...the nuke isn't terribly impressive looking...and it can be tricky to get the best from it solo...it's perfect with a troller holding a group of bad guys though.
Eng/eng is great....the KB isn't THAT big a problem in a group...you just need to manage it well...indoors it's easy...just make sure you are orientated so the blast knocks the enemy into a wall...and keep them pinned there. Outdoors, hover directly above the enemies so KB will just slam them into the ground.
KB isn't hard to manage...and is great fun.
The only slight drawback for /eng is the lack of an immobilise power.....but if you never play blasters you won't miss it
Eng/eng is a great fun setup...and to me that's the main reason to play any char....it's got to be fun. -
With only 2 attacks until lvl 22 I think you'll find it a bit of a struggle tbh.
With my blasters I always load them up with plenty of attacks and then when I hit respec lvl I remove any of the low damage ones as I have picked up the better ones.
As a lvl 50 build it looks ok...but if you follow that build it will be hard work getting up to the higher levels. -
Blaster secondary attacks are best for when you are grouping....soloing and depending on your secondary is a sure way to faceplant
...rely on your primary for fast bad guy incapacitation with secondary for any singles that make it close to you....and have the first power in EM as your Ctrl auto-power...for a nice control type power.
In a group the tank should have aggro allowing you to use your powerful EM attacks in relative safety...directed KBs will be on the tank....all you have to worry about is the AOE KB.
3 slot hover with flight speed and you have a very useful little power that many people just dismiss as a step on the way to getting Fly.
I guess it depends on your style..if you want to Blap more than Blast. -
Drop the jumping pool altogther and take hover/fly.
Hover is a decent KB protection without wasting that extra power you use getting to acrobatics
Would allow you to shuffle in blaze earlier too. -
As a blaster it may be worth taking a look at fly for your travel power.
Hover is handy for sitting above high melee damage enemies and blasting away.
Also....hover is a pretty decent KB avoider. Sure....it'll spin you right over but basically you can keep blazing away with no down time.
No need to waste an extra power for KB protection like you would be doing with the acrobatics route. -
Just a quick thanks again for helping Panama Pam with the transfer...and the little extra too

The only "acceptable" slotting of a nuke is 3 Damage 3 Recharge reduction.
Hooray for ED...where every player is now the same

I'm amazed we're still getting posts like this post-Inventions.
Clearly, there are other good ways to slot that 3 Rech/3 Dam, and those will vary depending on what you're trying to do with the character.
Pre-ED there was "standard" slotting for everything too. ED didn't change that - Inventions did.

It's a nuke....there's not much in the way it can be used subtly
Ok...let's put it this way....at lvl 32/33/34 it's not worth paying big cash to get special IOs for your nuke.
Slot it 3 damage 3 rchg redux until higher lvl when you can afford the nice stuff.
Everyone happy? -

The defence boosts from most of the open pools are poor...but don't overlook the "stealth" aspeect of the Stealth pool.
If you solo to any reasonable degree....invisibilty and glowies to click is a great thing for a superfast completion on a mission.
Need to kill a boss but don't want to/have time to kill your way through the crowds to get to him? Invisibilty and race right to the target...find a nice spot...and blow his head off....err I mean arrest him.
Invis can really help you speed through a mission...except the arrest all bad guys types. -
Thanks for organising it Afro....great fun...apart from the damn Vaz
-
Actually I got my gloabl wrong sorry...it's @Dreamthief
Somewhat embarrassing -
I'm probably free...the wife is supposed to be at work...but that could change
If I'm free, I'd like to come along with either Flaming Nora a lvl 38 tank fire/fire or Akira Bladestorm lvl 36 scrapper kat/reg depending on which would be more useful.
@Lord Shadow -
So....acrobatics..how good is it against knockback?
My fire tank seems to spend a lot of time on her back (the tart) and was thinking of grabbing acrobatics.

Thanks for the replies folks.
Looks like I'm definitely going 3 resists in FS and Tough.
I've already got healing flames 3 recharge 3 heal. Consume 3 recharge.
Now I just have have to watch that stamina bar a bit more, watch my health a bit more..at least until i get the extra slots into tough...and even then I have to remember that I'm down about 20% on the smash/lethal I had before.
Nope...ED was NOT a nerf...right.
