I actually find the community on Union to be better then on defiant.There are a lot more people on,and if you can see trough the grasshoppers then tis quite fun.
I've never played for more than an hour on Defiant, Union seems friendly to me though. There is the odd idiot but nothing community destroying and they are in the minority.
I've found in the last few weeks that there are some real class guys and gals on Union, its always been a cool place, but its only recently that I've been working with regular people and not pickup teams, and thats where its really been coming together for me, so I'd have to disagree with the OP.

Please don't let the few idiots that are in every MMO let your impression of Union down. There are some quality people on there.

I personally after only having high level toons on union have struggled with 'my' level of patience on PuG groups on defiant. In the time that i have levelled on union, i have learnt alot and perhaps my expectations/memories are different/jaded now. I have forgotten what things were like on Union, knowing less in my early levels made things seem better and so i have to look at both Union and Defiant and say perhaps they are as bad as eachother. After all alot of the players are probably in fact the same "i have a 50" people who still start fighting without really knowing what the other players in the team actually are, how they work, or how even their own toons work or the best way to even integrate.

I didn't mean the title of the topic to be inflammatory, and bare in mind that there is a relatively small number of characters in the title box! A better title would probably have been, "Disappointed in First Impressions of Union Community".
The reason for the post was simply that I'd heard a lot of a similar rhetoric from various people on here, (whom I know tend to play on Union) and none of their experience I'd had with any of my toons on Defiant. Sure, you get the odd eejit, but never enough for me to warrant an ignore.
And yet here I am playing a toon on Union, and have two people on ignore in the space of 20 minutes. I think given those circumstances I'd be forgiven for wondering what was up, or if there was a stark difference in the quality of players on each server.
A friend of mine has recently started playing CoH (yup he's got the bug 
) and has started playing on Union. His experience of it, is very good; he's in a very supportive SG and is never short of team invites and good teams.
Maybe the Unionites can sense the fact that I've been soiled by the Defiant "stench" heheh

I hope the minority of Union "fools" don't keep you away, would be a shame to lose you from the SGs. Recently I've been playing a lot on Defiant and I find both communities to be about equal
i think you've just hit a bad patch, i playe exclusivly on union and usually have no problems except for the last week. the last guy who on seeing my reward badges (12 months) asked how many 50s i had on saying none he immediatly presumed that i had bought my account off ebay!
any way i've just started a new toon on union so if your wanting to met some good players give me a shout at @atomitor or keep a look out for my new blaster ice master c
i've only been playing for abotu 2months. And only on Union, but so far, everyone has been great to me. Even when I died during frostfire, and by the time the guys resed me It was over. (I was so gutted at that 
)
But so far, everyone has been great. The only problem I'm finding is joining a "good" SG. I dont mind playing in SG all the time, but each SG kinda dissolves and leaves me standing there going "huh" and invited to a new one.

With any community there is always bound to be a few village idiots...just because you have no 50's in 12 months doesn't mean that you are not a valid community member.
I only have one lvl 50 which I dinged after 16 months, however I do have 16 alts...and am definately an altoholic. I have also deleted many toons....takes ages to find out exactly what you like playing and what you don't. Ignore these idiots....may you prosper

personally i'd have made sure there were wings in that account too during the mision after watching him play he failed to answer my question of if wither of his level 50s were tankers. unfortunatly due to loading times exiting the mission he quit before i could kick him

Playing heavily on both Union and Defiant, I can tell you that they're pretty much equal in terms of ability and idiocy. As ever, it tends to fade away the higher through the levels you get - although I did end up /ignore'ing three people on Defiant yesterday on my level 49 over there, so make of that what you will.

All servers eem disappointing when you first transfer. The main rweason is that the community really doesn't take off until level 30 or so. In teen level teams, there are a lot of knowitalls and people who think the best way to get xp is to have half the team die every fight. These seem to rarely make it past 30. It gets beter in the twenties, especially on task forces.

Its just a matter of perception, on your home server you are inately comfortable due to the familiar surroundings and people. While on a new server you are not used to peoples "quirks" and you dont have familiar faces to fall back on and essentially ignore the [censored]
All servers are the same as they represent a cross section of the gaming society, this unfortunately includes morons but its the same anywhere you go, no one server attacts all the imbeciles, they are split quite evenly

i would agree with comments before abt coming to a new server. Recetnly moved to Union as well, and 1st few days were a right eye opener.
met loads of nice people and equally NOT so nice people
1st 5 mins on - met a L8 who would blind invite to team; (I was L3) then tp u off a high building.
But as mentioned b4 - tehre are idiots on all servers , and neither server is any better or worse - its all good.
Although have to say that there seems to be mroe peeps in union atm
You just need to get to know a few people and there is no way better to make friends than smacking thugs faces into the pavement as a friendly group of heroes

Hey we dont smell not all of us anyway , its been said already but, if defiant has been your home server then starting again on a new one will take time to get use to, as for people on ignore sorry but you will find those people on both servers.
As im defiant to the end i still say we rule but im sure infact i know there are some top people and players over on union.

It's only 'cos it seems different at first - both servers have more or less the same population, and there's no real difference between them (except for Lui - Defiant has/had Lui ).

I play Union mostly, it's awesome. Been on Defiant a bit recently too, again awesome.
Both have their fair share of idiots, both have by far more than their fair share of top class guys/gals.

After playing the last 9 months on Defiant, I've obviously filled all my slots and started playing more on Union. In all that time I've never had to /ignore anyone.
Incredibly my toons on Union are rapidly gathering people on their /ignore lists for a variety of reasons from unbelievable amounts of spamming in broadcast, to one player arguing with me after I left his team because I didn't agree with his method of getting "uber xp".
I'm going to be playing on Union an awful lot more, and I'm hoping this experience is only going to be limited to the lower levels.
