What's happened to the teaming part of this game? really starting to get fed up now.
no matter what toon i use or what lvl the toons is its just impossible to get a team!!

for instance i've made a new tanker ice/ice going all defensive, ye right, first thing i hear when i finally get a team after spending hours LFT is "why arent you attacking?" i try explaining what my job on a team is and then i get kicked.. same goes for all my toons wether it be a tank, a scrapper or anything else.

Where did all the team-spirit go?

Were you physically just standing there? With lots of endurance? If so, that would explain it possibly. If you were actually taunting, actively holding aggro, etc, and noticably doing something, indicating you didn't have time to attack, then I agree, they're idiots.

I get the same problem man, add me on global (@Bucky The Hare) . I have a few friends that I normally team with. I have a level 50, 19, and -5's.

The search comment doesn't mean a thing. It could also imply that you are just a defense based (as in powersets) tank, which in your case you are, whether you attack alot or not.

Any tank can keep aggro nicely and still try and contribute to the overal damage done. With punchvoke.....gauntlet this is actually beneficial to attack alot. Still, we don't know what happened in that team and therfore take your word for it.

You could always try and start a team yourself , usually saves me alot of trouble if I pick the members myself...

Have you tried creating your own teams?

All well & good being a 'defensive tank' but if you LOOK like your doing nothing, I'd kick you too.

My tank has most of his defensive set but he has a healthy choice of attacks too.

I agree with the above, fighting helps draw the aggro to you, throw some taunts around and you'll help your team LOT more than just standing there.

With all the above ingested, feel free to look out for any Paragon Knights or contact me @War Borg (might be one word...) as I have alts at differing levels. I also don't mind exemplaring/sidekicking within reason.

Good luck tanker

Taunting is a bit hard atm since i havent gotten it yet (not hit 10 yet) but running around like a crazy person keeping everyone affected by my taunt aura and keeping punchvoke up is hard work at that lvl...

after 50 lvls of tanking with my main i know what i'm doing, and i'm not just standing around, i work my [censored] off to keep the aggro on me using whatever means i have at an early lvl. but just because my attacks arent the "killing blows" teams (mostly lowlvls but higher lvls as well!) seem to consider me useless....

At this level with lack of slotting because your preparing your armours and heals for when you hit 12 gauntlet is pretty poor. Its duration is endurance related of which /ice tanks are low on end consumption. Your doing your best to use aura to hold 10 probably on a team that doesnt probably allow you to consolidate and hold aggro easily. If the team cant see that then your better off without them. Kicking you for that is just noobish imo. My experiences have been different all my tanks but my invuln took taunt at lvl 4 when they could but you cant so it cant always be easy. Relying on your aura to do something effective may require you to hover it over a foe for upto 2 seconds not always easy on teams that cause groups to splinter either. Im just glad i never had to wait to 10 for taunt.

The team spirit is still there... just not in every team.

I can see how new players may not get the tank... "what the hell's he doing? Running forward like a scrapper and then just (apparently) standing there doing nothing??!!??"

If this was the case, then they may just need a little education - and in the right tone. If you explained but in an angry tone (including calling them noobs) then maybe that is why you were kicked...

not saying that you did this... but as I wasn't there it's possible.

I find that most players are ok if you patiently explain things that they don't understand and in a pleasant tone (heck - we were all new once). The team then works better and they become better players for understanding the tanks place in a balanced team.

Of course.. they may just have been idiots - in which case you may be better off without them!

BTW - you get more problems with low level teams partly because anyone can create a low level toon - it takes some patience and dedication to hit the 40s or 50, idiot players tend to lack both qualities!

Personally, I always start my own teams -> always have since the get go with my controller. I wouldn't kick you, although I would ask what you were doing. I might kick you if you weren't doing damage or holding any aggro at all, but if you were doing one or the other i'd be fine with that.

If you are low on end, thats the only reason you should not attack. If you have end, there is no reason in the world why you cannot hit some baddies. This will also help keep the agro on you because of punchvoke.

Why do players think they can only do one thing in this game? Players whinge about healing if they don't see themselves as a healer, people whinge about using buffs on team mates instead of their pets only.

If I have a power in any of my sets, I manage to use it when it needs to be used. Doesn't matter if it on myself, my pets or a team mate. I am not a 1 dimensional player that can only click 3 powers in a fight. Give me 100 powers that affect different team mates/pets/myself/mobs and I'll manage to use the right one at the right time and on the right person.

If I'm a controller, I hold, help kill, heal, buff, debuff, take agro, use soft control - everything in my set whether its slotted or not gets used when the situation demands it.

well going for an all defensive tanker means i'm going for armors and taunt in the short description.

at lvl 6 as my tank is there isnt much to end problems s thats not an issue.
With the build looking as :

Frozen Fists
Ice Armor
Chilling embrace
Hoarfrost
Wet Ice

there isnt much "killer" in me, i use what means i have to keep aggro
Chilling Embrace is always on and Brawl, Frozen Fists and the "inherent" temp is used to keep punchwoke going. and for a lvl 6 thats a lot of aggro work imo...

Just one question Brimmy, what are you planning on taking at 8?

I'd recommend frost/icesword, just to help you "scrank" a bit more until you can get taunt to get to you aggro management happiness. Personally, I'd go frost for the aoe, then get taunt at 10, travel power pre-req at 12, travel power at 14, then the fitness pool, with glacial armour at 22.

I think just grinding through the quick patch between 6 and 10 will make life a lot easier for you - but avoid getting a non-combat power at 8. It will make soloing easier, and teaming easier, as they can see you attacking.

i was planning to pick up CJ at lvl 8 to start off the travel pool but i guess i'll just have to make some changes, since the build i have in mind is really what i wanna do i think i might just change CJ to Jump Kick since it has a decent damage and still wont screw up the planner too much.
but i'll have to look it over...

have been thinking about what to do with it for a while now and i think changing CJ to Jump kick is the easiest solution..
