Tanker Epics

Thanks Shan, nice site.
I have a lvl 50 stone/stone tank. The Epic pools suited him superbly. The combination of Hasten/Conserve Power is fantastic - a rapid attack chain that uses little endurance. His laser-beam eyes firing out from a shell of granite looked sooo good. Definitely the best compliment to all the powers already taken.
i took the earth mastery pool for my stone/ss tank
atm i dont have the correct build on live but the one i have on test (getting it on live with i7)
is great, herd em up, hit stalgemites from the epics (AoE)
taunt em again to round em up more and hit footstomp
allthough fire is the best for taking aggro..

Just from reading the power descriptions you would think that Earth would be the best for attracting aggro due to all the aoes. Fire would be more for causing damage I would think.
Edit: "All the aoes" could perhaps be changed to "the two aoes" . Personally, I'm still trying to figure out my final, final respec build for my tanker for when Issue 7 hits and had been thinking of going fire but having thought about it a little more I may go for Earth.

Fire ( actually Pyre ) Mastery is the best aggro manager because it has the normal immob and hold, a blast and has Fireball. Fireball is a 10 target AoE with a 20ft diameter and no knockback and is usable fairly often.
Energy Master has LBE and Energy Torrent, but ET has knockback and is a cone so it is not as useful for maintaining aggro.
Artic mastery has the hold and immob, the blast and Ice Storm, which as a Rain power reduces aggro control.
Earth Mastery again has the hold and immob, but has an AoE sleep which is possibly good for aggro control, as mezzes make them angry but probably isn't up often enough, and also has a DoT AOE which again is slow recharge.
So I would probably agree that the Fire Epic is the best aggro manager.
For damage mitigation, I suspect you would choose differently.
@Unthing ... Mostly on Union.

This is true for most Tanks, but it works rather well for Stone Tanks since Mud Pots is a PBAoE Immob. Comfortably my most damaging attack against a herd of minions.

Has anyone any experience with Stalagmites from Earth Mastery? It's looking kinda attractive to me at the moment as my hero planner says it can disorient so should be effective damage mitigator when combined with the disorients from my Whirling Mace.

Tested it briefly for the same reason. It very rarely disorientates from what I found (which is why I never took it).

i would of said attracting aggro is all, i didnt read it as taking aggro of someone else i read it is as taking damage.

Hmm... The Earth aoe powers seem to have very long recharges too. I guess I'll go back to the drawing board and take another look at Pyre.

I wouldn't count earth out so quickly. I use it very effectively with my stone/axe tanker. The immob and the hold are massively useful for pinning down any runners. Stalagmites not only looks good but is a superb aggro getter. The AoE sleep is kind of pointless though. As mudpots wakes them all up again. for an ice or inv tanker not using a damaging aura it would be much more useful.
Looks like I'll have to do some testing on the test server before I respec

Have you used energy torrent? it does knockdown unless mob is highly susceptible to knockback or below your level
Have it on my fire/ss tank and it is very useful
i wud go energy epic every time, the extra dmg from fire blast and fire ball compared to laser beam eyes and energy torrent isnt that much and conserve power and focused acc are awesome

after going on test i have to say this is true to a certain extent, however, your missing one point mate: Fiery Embrace. Thats a 20second build-up for all those lovely fire attacks. And Char is a very nice pvp hold.
Trouble is end.
I'm having a hard time deciding between fire and power :/
Ia ICE completely useless then? i was thinking of grabbing block of ice and slapping some serious ACC and Hold in it for pinning down any psi bosses etc, likely to work?

Union:
Devil Claw lvl 50 Claws / Regen Scrapper
DC MK4 lvl 50 Granite / Energy Melee Tank
Devil Claw Awoken lvl 50 Human / Dwarf PB
Brutalise-DC lvl 50 Elec / Dark Brute
Different, not bad. Blck of Ice good for Sappers, and way more visible than Char for those of us who like theatrics.

I was tempted by Body Mastery for the Conserve Power and Focused Accuracy but I think I might go for Ice Mastery on my Ice / Mace tank to stick to concept. Anyway, Ice Storm & Chilling Embrace should be pretty sweet

Block of ice is great for holding troublesome PvE opponents. Ice storm is pretty bad though. Too short duration and long recharge. The ranged attack is ok I guess. Single target immobilize is ok for an immob, but why would you want one on a tank?
Block of ice is the only epic left on my tank currently.

Ice Storm is great for Stone Tanks - works well with the Immob from Mud Pots. The attack is very fast, both in animation and recharge. That's great for Gauntlet use if nothing else, but it's also Tundra's most damaging single target attack, /Ice being rather light on damage.

Hey, had a quick search through the Tank board but couldn't find any solid info on Tanker Epic Pools.
Does anyone have the info they could stick in here, or at least a link to it?
Thanks.
