Where are all The Heroes?
Friendly word of advice: Cross-posting incurs the mighty wrath of Bridger .
Thanks for the advice!
Bridger, if you're in a rage I apologise, I'm doing it for the good of the people. I was just making sure anyone who might be interested was aware.

JUST TYPE IC PLAYER INTO YOUR TEAM SEARCH
[/ QUOTE ]
I am hidden from team searches as <random_gamer_024" doesn't care if I am really looking for a team or not, he just invites, I may even type "No blind invites", it doesn't help. I mean, hello, it's written clearly but... no... "they" keep sending blind invites.
Not mentionning people who develop a sudden desire to be with me "for just a moment". Actually, just to clear their Defeat X mission because I happen to be in the same zone and they don't want to do it themselves.
Means... for me... I am not going to type anything like "IC character" in team search comments as I try as best as I can to avoid being listed here.
It's sad but I prefer to be hidden and miss a couple of opportunities rather than being the target of blind invites popping in front of me at the most inadequate moments.
Just my personnal preference.
I certainly don't blame you for that. I was in a team last night that was good fun with a touch of IC even. This isn't rare but just like you I get annoyed with the crazy team syndrome or I just want to you to get me up a lev syndrome. The good team ups make up for the bad ones and I also get some good people on my friends list; Sandcastle and Torch of The Olympian(sorry, I'nm not sure that's exactly right)last night for instance.
But to each his/her own and I certainly understand why you don't advertise. Not that random invites bother me, I just decline if I'm not interested.

The only other problem i can see with this system (apart from the blind invites) is that most of my characters wouldn't team with someone they don't know fairly well, Veskit wouldn't care if <insert random name here> had a bit of a grudge against the Tsoo, helping them isn't going to crush the Council under foot any time soon, so he'd just shrug off their calls for help and go break heads on his own. now if it was OOC I'd prolly happily tag along.
Just my thoughts on the matter, and I expect there's others with heroes that are more of a loner than a big cheerful team player, and they'd only help others if it was
A: someone they knew
B: in their own interest to do so
C: going to line their pockets rather nicely
(and yes I know that the 3rd reason is a tad mercenary but If Ves was to put off destroying a Council operation for a total stranger, it had better be well worth his while, or he's just going to mind his own business)
Sounds about right to me, Ves is just being Ves. The goody goody heroes might not like him but The Punisher's always had bad press among his peers and he does ok.

And my Miss Ellie character wouldn't help anyone unless she either knew them, or it was a case of walking in on a mugging or similar. An appeal for help would be replied with a simple, "Sorry, but I can't help you."
Why? Because she's retired from the hero business. She just couldn't take the stress of everything, especially given some of the nasty things that's happened to her... Kinda of a shame really as she's one of the most powerfull heroe's around GG...
These days, she visits the statue still, but mostly chats with her old friends, and runs her clothing boutique.

Now that's what I call hardcore rp!

Why thank you!

Most of my characters are built purely from an RP perspective and I keep getting told to 'tone it down'
Weasel was not a happy bunny when he found he'd been cloned by Crey and my team mates were getting quite worried about me IRL
Silver Weasel
I'm with you.
I've mentioned somwhere else on these boards that I've played Baldur's Gate and that it had a sense of rpg even without the people. I've also played Dungeon Siege(maybe some of you have)and although the graphics were good and the quests had some imagination in evidence, basically it was a combat system. COH is not just a combat system but it could come close if you let it. If you care about and understand your character the whole game becomes a world and a story just like a book or a comic. Heroes are not "usually" deliberately created to be perfect, and even if that was the intention it is never true of them. So if you want to create a defender who is very aggresive and doesn't know what healing is, that's up to you...and him/her. Ideal builds and characters are great but unless there's something more, what's the point?
What are more fun, the missions that your designer heroes walk through or the difficult ones that you barely survive?
Rp planning, that's the way to go if it suits you.

1.) Dungeon Siege *shudder* It's Diablo II, without the fun. I'd actually say it's the worst game I have, even with Daikatana and Enter The Matrix in my collection
2.) I'd be up for some RPed missions, I have a bit of a sporadic playtime, but my main alts are around lv13, and I'm @Maximillian
Hello Max
You must be the bloke I spoke to last night at GG. I asked if you were the one who'd given me a lot of help on the forums.
Battleflag
Yep, was just about to reply when you went offline.
I like rp missions, i think my search comment merely says "roleplayer"
@Quilla if you want to add me. I'll rp missions (my characters are fairly ammeiable (sp?))
but get in there before end of June! This gal's going fast! sale! sale! sale!
I've done roleplay missions, the problem being, that they get very lengthy, there's almost always someone who gets hurt in a major way. Not everyone finds that style pleasing. I for instance, do not.
If someone can guarantee me an angst-free RP mission, I'm well up for trying it.
However, Shadow's Grace, my main, is semi retired, and will not partake.
My other characters... well, it depends. Mindblank wouldn't go on a mission if her fiance Alex Reed isn't there.
My empath, Stargazer, is the most likely candidate to do well in a rp mission. She's very down to earth, practical and doesn't make too much of a secret of who she is behind the mask.
I can be found on @Aisla.
Coile is an idealist of sorts. He trekked to Paragon City with his sister Coila because she wanted to make a difference. Now having fought against plenty of groups Coile himself is starting to see that he can affect things and is getting on the hero biz bandwagon too. About any call to assist in the good fight would be answered provided it doesn't clash with any jobs his supergroup is doing. Tempest comes first.
I was more irritated by SG invites than I am with team invites. Being in an SG solved that, and the team invites don't yet bother too much. Given time they will I'm sure, but I'll deal with it when the time comes.
If I'm ever on then an RP woild be great fun,its @necropolis...
just watch out in case you invite my blind alt...
Or the one whos just been in prison..
Or the religious zealot who believes anyone who doesnt believe what he believes (phew!) is a fool.
Erm......*goes to create more team friendly RP chacter*

Ooooh! By all means bring Leo to GG... That's bound to make TD come out of whatever hole she's hiding in...

Ok FFM backtrack and think about what you just said...you want Leo to come and lure Tiger Dark...TO him?!
Crazy FFM! Crazy crazy!
Battle,
I appreciate your sentiments. But if you want to roleplay missions then put that in your chat search.
I've had a few stabs at it and apart from two early on with Agent Haven (thankyou all involved ) - Everyone has wanted to be the X-Men. So next time you see either:
a) Arctic Princess
b) Whirling Dervish
c) Ariadnee
or
d) Agent Haven then give em a shout and I will happily attempt a bit if roleplay.
But if it goes all "I am alpha male, grrrrr!" Then I'm hitting quit
But seriously, give us a shout if you see em!
I've done many missions in character i found them really fun and like u said bring out the "true" comic book superhero team feel. I'll be happy to tag along, but which server is this taking place? Btw im with ionos in a way, i don't liek the wole i" im a super god like bieng, wathc me kill eveything " trip lol

I'd hope that sentiment be the standard with the people I end up playing with. I can play with a god as long as it has its limitations.
Consider Thor. A god of Thunder who can go toe-to-toe with Hulk, has a bash-your-car-AND-your-city hammer etc. etc. He could rip through about any bunch I've so far seen with laughable ease. Still, Thor has his limitations (thinking of the Silver Era here, no clue about the current version) where the hammer is needed to retain the godhood. He has flaws and weaknessses which makes him interesting. I could play with Thor. I recently had the pleasure of mixing with an Egyptian god. Loved that!
Then again, I see little point with playing a mission with Beyonder. Or even Galactus. ...could be it has been done already, but a thread about "whom would you like to team-up with for a CoH mission" would sure yield some interesting results.!
Our team is more like X-Men. Grass root level bunch who takes on opponents one by one. Well, with Subaiku I guess a touch of Midnight Sons is a fair addition.
I know I'm preaching to the converted here but I thought you might be interested. I'm trying!
Where are the Heroes?
Ive met the button pressers and mouse movers but where are the grim knights, the jokey heroes, the distant mystics, the practical leaders, the reluctant fighters, the aloof strangers, the strange aliens? This is a wonderful game in a wonderful world. Next time your character is running along, look at the light reflect off his/her costume and be aware of all that is going on around him/her. Lets make the most of it!
Union is the place for role play I am told, and so it is, but only just. Lets start introducing the heroes to each other, put IC PLAYER in your team comment and see if we can get something started. I dont want to compete with the Galaxy Girl crowd, I simply want to offer a first stepping stone to role play.
NO RULES, NO GUIDELINES, JUST TYPE IC PLAYER INTO YOUR TEAM SEARCH AND TRY TO PLAY IN CHARACTER AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. SEE IF WE CAN ALL GET TOGETHER AND MAKE THIS THE COMIC BOOK EXPERIENCE THAT MUST HAVE ATTRACTED MANY OF US UN THE FIRST PLACE.
Im Battleflag and Ill be looking for you. I try to play most nights between 7 and 9ish UK time. But I dont need to be there as long as you can spot each other, lets use the search comment to help us enjoy the game.
Thanks
