Where are all The Heroes?
I posted my first experiences of IC playing in General Discussion in an effort to encourage others to do the same. Please take a look if you're interested. I'm avoiding repeating my posts in fear of Bridger's wrath.
Battleflag
Not wishing to be picky, but IC postings are really meant to go into the Roleplaying forum. That's it's purpose.
I can appreciate your wanting to bring it out more to the general playerbase, but Bridger might move it...

Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Fair comment and I'm sure you're right but I really am trying to promote enjoyment of the game in another way. If Bridger doesn't approve I'll apologise, not do it again, and hope he forgives me. Battlflag needs to take chances for the cause.

I was just wondering - since there seems to be quite a few players who have responded positively to the mission-IC concept, would it be an idea to arrange for an in-game meet up point and time to get the exchange of IC-friends/global friends lists up and running?
If this would be seen as too much, an alternative might be to make a list of IC-players/toons along the lines of the "Union/Defiant list of 50s" - but, ashamed as I am to admit it, I would have no idea myself of how to actually start and keep such a list, as I am technically a complete "noob"
Would anyone find any of these ideas useful?
I'm thinking of something like a GG meeting point(not so much for rp chats as to get together) but it's still a bit early in my IC experience. However, if someone would like to suggest a very loose time and place I'll do my best. It could be used as a quick "add friends to list" option. I don't see this as my thing so much as a promoting participant in rp/ic play so feel free to do or say what you want.

One of the best places to have an in-game meet up would be the GG meets every night, as I noticed several of the positive replies came from people that attend there already.
Hmm... and it looks like I'll be needing to work out which of my toons is the most team friendly, although once Ves gets to know people he'd be happy to head off for a suicide mission, (like i said earlier, if he doesn't know you then he'd have no reason to help, but a friend in need is a good excuse to smash heads, so he'd be happy to play then)
A meeting at or next to GG sounds like a good idea (as long as it wouldn't be too interruptive to the "regular" roleplaying at GG).
As regards timing, I tend to have the same problem with the 9 P.M. as Battle mentioned in the other thread - I am on CET and 9 P.M. UK is a bit close to my weekday bedtime
If it was going to be GG Id want to do it earlier, 9ish is when I usually sign off. At the moment the Hollows or Atlas is more convenient for me as they're the areas I'm mostly in. Maybe each map should be given a round the clock meeting area with a possible peak meet up time--I suppose you'd be more likely to meet similar levs that way too. Hollows could be somewhere to the left as you enter maybe. Just some ideas. If this idea spreads a bit people would probably meet up via friends I would imagine. For instance, I am now very aware that Red Comissar is one to look out for and presumably people who visit the forums know my style of play.
Ves sounds like a great charcter to team up with although I imagine he could be infuriating. I once played D&D with a mate whose cleric was murder to get a cure light wounds from, he alwys wanted paying or a reason why he should give one. Very irritating but great fun and probably fairly realistic.

I'm sure this already happens, but another thought I've had is to advertise for 7 players to team up once, or maybe twice a week, at a set time. The idea being that you're a SG in every sense apart from the game's definition. It would be nice to start from lev one and climb the ladder over time--a long time. It wouldn't matter if some people couldn't make it as that's life in reality and in comics. If only two or three people joined then the rest of the sg could simply be seen to be elsewhere. If some were more powerful than others so what, that's life. It would also make for some very interesting play: The lev 8 players protecting the lev 3 who's pc's been out of action for a few weeks. I was thinking of a general line up to try to cover most areas in case people can't make it:
2 tanks
2 scrappers
2 defenders
2 controllers
2 blasters
a bit of dialogue about who's doing what with their character creation would probably be wise.
What do you think?
Battleflag
Good idea from my POV.
The only slight problem I would have is that I am very close to being out of new character slots on both Union and Defiant. I have a whole bunch of characters around 6-10, however, so if they could join, it would be great
I'm not sure how the game mechanics could be adjusted to suit all(if you were trashing everything while everyone looked on it might not be much fun) but from an rp/ic point of view I don't see a problem. If you were to look at the JLA for example, Superman must be a lev 50 compared to a variety of lower levels.
As a first try though I think it would be good to have everyone on an even footing, the power structure would change over time and hopefully rarely be too different.
Just stuff to think about, as far as knowledge of the game goes I'm fairly limited. The more I think about a regular sg style session with characters I know, the more it appeals. Ok so a two hour session once a week would be a long haul to lev 10 for example, but it'd be fun. you could do the higher stuff with other characters if you wanted.
Battleflag
Fair point - but IMHO it shouldn't be a huge problem - a team of new toons would probably catch up with my level 5 very quickly ( or I could exemplar down if that's possible from level 5?)
I think you're right about it not being a huge problem Lotus but if I do set it up, and I think I probably will, it'll be for lev ones only, not even the tutorial exp allowed. I like the newness of the team.
I've been thinking about how to phrase the thread and organise the team. I imagine I'd post some kind of background to everyone getting together in the first place. A higher level character could act as a team member once we got the hang of things and maybe introduce a difficult mission or something along those lines. I'm getting ahead of myself here but posting an "interest thread" with instructions to let me know who wants in is something I'm likely to do soon.
Of course anyone who wants to reserve a place early is welcome to do so now . I don't expect to be swamped with applicants, far from it, but the limit is 7(I'm the eighth ).
Battleflag
Good luck with the plans - I'm afraid I won't be able to take part in the first run on Union as I have my final free slot reserved for a special post-I7 concept , but I really hope the idea takes off
Fair enough and thanks for the interest. What's the new concept you had in mind if it's not a seceret?
Battleflag
Ah...nothing exciting AT or powerwise, just a concept for a WS that needs one of the villain faces (the young Asian one)/and some costume options to be "quite right"
I just want to applaud the sentiment of playing missions in character Battleflag. I would certainly be interested in teaming up with anyone who wanted to do so. My characters tend to be between levels 8-17 (sorry, chronic altitis!) but I am happy to sidekick, exemplar etc. Creating a whole new character specifically to team up with other roleplayers could be interesting, especially if people agreed on a theme beforehand but either way I reckon it would be fun. If you see any of my characters around, they are all roleplayers to some degree or another although whether they are nice or nasty depends on who you get.
Either way, I love the idea although my gameplay times tend to be sporadic!

I'm on Union Blitz; I'll try to keep an eye open for you. Anyone I meet who is into the IC or rp aspect will probably go on my friends list and hopefully via versa; that should get a fairly regular team going in the long run. Fingers crossed.
