    i15 Update

    [ QUOTE ]
NOTE: In the case of a Trial Account, normal Trial Account limitations will be in place, so the Beta experience will be limited.

    [/ QUOTE ]

*wonders just how many limits can be placed on a beta for 10 missions and some cossie parts*
  2. Personally, I'd assume that IF they choose to capture and hold a person from the Isles, and with them being one of the first basic world enemies you meet in Mercy, and have a shoot on sight policy throughout the Isles (In game mechanic it maybe, but if they wanted them to be passive and peaceful, Longbow would have been kept to turning up in missions only imo) the odds of anyone they drag in being alive is questionable. I'd then assume that the captive is held and questioned or whatever in one of the Longbow compounds of the Isles.

Transfering people to the Zig is the troublesome point. Why bother? And since not every single person who resides within the Isles is a blood thirsty criminal who heads into Paragon to steal, blow things up or whatever, the Guantanamo Bay style inprisonment seems unlikely WITHOUT firm, solid proof that there IS a justifiable reason. This is Longbow we're talking about, the masses may be jumped up goons with guns where they don't belong, but Ms Liberty has her public image and reputation to protect, and her organisation illegally holding civilians due to living in the Isle is something I'm pretty damned sure she'd want to avoid.

In a world populated by people beyond the ordinary, some even able to read minds like open books, getting away with something underhanded like planting people in the Zig without following scrict protocal and the law is about as likely as kicking water uphill.

    Level-less CoX

*quite enjoyed Ultima Online's character development system when he played that many moons ago...*
  4. Personally, and this is just my far from expert opinion here, but one of the problems stopping newer players coming and staying are the stupid amount of threads of this nature, always claiming that the game is in real trouble, that the up coming competition will wipe out the community as we all move on to CO or the DC comics based equivalent (which is so awesome I can't even remember the name of it) and the like. Seriously, it's getting really old.

Recently Tabula Rasa shut down and the players were, IIRC, given game time for any of NCNC's other online games. A similar thing happened at Memo' this year, with masses of CoV collectors edition's being handed out. Now, how many of the people who thought they'd give CoX a try do you really think are gonna stick around if all they heard are cries of doom and failure? The Tabula Rasa crowd are far from likely to hang around waiting for another game to close from under them so they'd head off, I know I would in their shoes after reading some of the tripe that seems to make up the bulk of the doom posts.

Why not give it a rest and try pointing out some of the games better features? Sure it looks dated, and the same old office map can and will get boring in short measure, but why tell that to someone you want to stick around when you could be telling them about how awesoe a group of AoE crazy blasters look as they hide the map with cool, shiny explosions and powers that actually make the player gasp in wonder at the sight?

How about highlighting the insane number of possible characters that can be made within any single AT, never mind across the entire range? Why not mention the community organised events like costume competitions, the beach parties, hell just the community in general since it's by far and away the best I've been a part of since starting with MMO's back in '95 on Ultima Online

Something that would compliment the primary set or your build as a whole.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But, doesn't a taunt power that forces enemies to move INTO close range and thus enabaling you to use all your other powers, be them stabbing with pointy things like swords or claws, or just plain punching / kicking the enemy in the face perfectly compliment your other powers already?
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Confront takes up space in a primary set which could have been used for something else which amplifies the primary set or compliments the rest of the attacks in the set.

    [/ QUOTE ]

TBH, this is how I tend to look at it currently on all the Scrappers I have played / still play. It's not that Confront is a useless power, it's just that I tend to build Scrappers for solo play at gods-forsaken times of night so I've got the aggro from all the mobs around anyways.

    HOWEVER...

Issue 13 brings with it dual builds, and I know that most of my toons will be getting looked at and set up withy solo and team based builds, and that Confront is getting squeezed into all the team builds I can get it into. Granted it might not get used anywhere near as often as a Tankers taunt power, but for team play, I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
  7. Scene: Ves at home with the kids during his later days in Paragon Zzyyxx Rd.

Scene: Cy and the guys blasting their way through an enemy's base (feel free to picture any group, she's happy to shoot pretty much anyone if the money's right) Chaos Step

Scene: Cy hanging out at GG and having to be far more polite than she's used to Play with fire
  8. Shall be there on the 22nd, tickets arrived last week (booked in advance, last year was heaps of fun, wasn't going to forget and leave it too late this year)
  9. Just a thought, and sorry if anyone's asked already in other threads on the subject but...

If I log a toon out in the Vault (for either the Banker or Thief day job) INSIDE Pocket D (for the Clubber job) would it count for both timers, or just one of them?

Similar situation arises many times in CoV with various stores being inside Arachnos buildings or bases which'd possibly count for a few seperate jobs.
  10. The shields look a lot better in the video than the early screenies from the test server, though that's probably due to the colouring and such.

REALLY liking the look of that fire shield in action, as well as the Talsorian one though I'd imagine that'll be one we'd have to aquire with Vanguard Merits so that means I'll have to wait until post-lvl 35 for that, so it kinda takes some of shine off it (and it'd look great with a tech based BS / shield scrapper with the tech sword IMO)
  11. Grats on the accolade, and all those who got badges, and commiserations to any one (like myself) who were hosping or lagging their way back to the ship when the GM fell.
  12. (( Indeed, a highly enjoyable read even for those of us not directly involved with the events ))
  13. Character taking part: Cyder (along with a few of her team)
    Level: 50
Time available: Anytime after 3pm is good, so current time planned works nice

My only concern, and it's a totally OOC one so take it for what it's worth, is having enough lvl 47+ characters around to SK / Lackey all the lower members of the raid. I know that, from an RP PoV level has no real bearing at all, but when you're fighting against lvl 50-54 Rikti waves, anyone below lvl 47 isn't really helping much, and I can see folks getting frustrated pretty damned quickly about lower toons bringing larger spawns to the end stage of the raid without being able to contribute to clearing them out.

I know it's the taking part that counts (apparently) But Mothership raids are not a fast, easy 10-15 blast-a-thon at the best of times, and I can't see people overly enjoying what could turn into an hour long faceplant-fest without walking away with a nice shiny badge for their time (or progress on their current bars for the multi-defeat GM badge)
  14. Last I checked I was up to 2743 hours in-game (so 114 days) With Ves.

Topics they want to avoid, such as server merges, or DXP events, could be avoided saving them massive amounts of time reviewing “pointless” threads. While at the same time it allows them to focus our collective creativeness in the direction that they want us to look at, new zones, new powers, etc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Could just be me, but this is all already occuring.

The topics that Red Names would rather people let die down, they step into and tell you (kinda like GR's post about there being no plans for EU > US Transfers or server merges) and that's pretty much that issue solved.

The subjects they actively want people to discuss more they tend to create a thread for. Jay's cossie thread and the QoL features thread, both kinda big, serve nicely to back that up.

Locking off topics entirely serves no useful purpose, while it would cancel out all the repeated demands and cries for things which have been refused (usually with a sound explanation) it would also prevent any future new possible changes which had previously not been put forward.

    HOW LONG?!?!?!

    [ QUOTE ]
OT but burning curiosity demands I ask Veskit: What is that in your animated avatar?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Z hit the nail on the head. It's a section of Tifa's fight in the church with Loz from Advent Chlildren (and that just shows how often I post around here, always get asked that)
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Anyway! OT i prefer new players to veterans, because new players everything is all oooooooo and ahhhhhh and shiny!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, I've been here just short of 3 years, and there's plenty that still has me 'Oooooh'ing and 'Ahhhhhh'ing (though that could be due to short term memory issues and the attension span of a concussed duckling, who knows)

IMHO the easiest way to spot a Vet is by looking to the newer players and seeing which of the longer standing players are offering friendly advice and guidance (and NOT instructions) while letting them work stuff out for themselves.
  18. Veskit

    HOW LONG?!?!?!

Well, I gots a fair few toons that I tend to bounce between depending on my mood, who's around at GG and various other factors, but Ves is still my main RP toon, and is currently clocking 2743 hours in-game (so 114 days) and it's all Inago and Dark Rose's fault for ambushing me on my first night in Paragon as I wandered by GG totally clueless as to what was going on
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Is there any way to tell who is a roleplayer other than those people in your own SG ?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yep, through the wonder that is conversation. I always find asking to be a great way to find out
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Here's my thoughts: All Roleplayers have their characters join 1 or 2 RP SG's on Union. That way, there is good probablility of having a higher number of other players on at most times.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And what exactly are you proposing happens to all the other RP SG's that are around once all RP toons are entered into these specially selected (or purpose built) 1 or 2 SG's?

Some of the groups around have a long, important history to them which actually defines the kind of characters that are members / they recruit, and as such I see very little incentive for them to follow your suggested course of action as it would pretty much kill off any sense of individuality between RP SG's

Then there's the groups which are MENT TO BE SMALL, a group of members who operate on their own, occasionally seeking outside help when needed. (thinking more of the themed teams and SG's here, kinda like the APache Longbow in the past, or more recently RAPIER) These deliberatly small groups wouldn't be small and secretive anymore, which kinda kills their concept.

Presonally, I really don't see this working, but for those that take it on-board and give it a whirl, I wish you the best of luck
  21. Veskit

    Auto-casting

If you've accidentally hit the 'Z' key, it cancels out the auto-activate ring.

Perhaps this could explain the problem? (easy to do if using default keymapping, especially if using the 'X' key to alter altitude while flying)
  22. Could just be me, but isn't the current selection of difficulty levels for missions already in place for doing this?
  23. [ QUOTE ]
    Blind

Your first mez in the set. It's pretty good too. It lasts for a decent time before slotting. It also has a chance to mez other enemies which is nice. Like Spectral Wounds, I see no reason not to take this.

    Rating: 4/5

    [/ QUOTE ]

Only a minor point, but with Blind being Illusion's only single target hold, and one of few powers that lets you deal damage to a specific target (Sure the fire and forget pets are nice but sometimes trhey just won't hit who you want them too in a big crowd) I'd say it deserves it's 5/5 and should be noted as pretty much essential.

    Just my 2 inf
  24. Fire / Rad lvl 50. Suicidal aggro magnet, sooooo much fun.

    Illusion / Rad lvl 38.

Planning a few more, ill / thermal next me thinks
  25. [ QUOTE ]
What constitutes a reasonable situation for a hero to utilise deadly force? Is it entirely subjective, or does the law make a hard line?

    [/ QUOTE ]

As far as I'm concerned (and I tend to carry this over to all my hero characters) deadly force becomes acceptable as soon as the life of a civilian (be it a hostage, an innocent by-stander like those annoying peds in missions) or even another Hero is put in immediate danger by the actions of the criminal being faced.

This isn't Gotham City, so that lowbie Hellion isn't automatically going to shoot the old lady he's trying to mug in Galaxy City. Feel free to walk over and smack him upside the napper, but killing him is BAD.

As for events like Rikti Invasion waves in city zones, if you're NOT using deadly force, you're endangering not only yourself but everyone with you, and inturn (if you take it through to it's eventual conclusion) the lives of everyone on the planet. It's a battle for the survival of the human race, so kindly stop whining at the characters that just get on with it.
