Ice/Energy Tank PvP build help needed

I've never created a build mostly for PvP before so I need some help with this..

Notes-

Fire mastery is so I can do decent damage in teams, please don't suggest focus accuracy
Stun I'm not sure about, it just sounds like a good idea for fighting squishes.
Slotting I'm defo not sure about.
Icicles are there for antstalker defence mostly and to test if fleas comment about them begin highly damaging is correct.

Icicles are only worthwhile damage in PvE. In PvP no-one is going to be so dumb as to stand 8 feet away from you for extended periods of time.

Looks like a decent build though.

I'd lose the slot in barrage since I don't think you'll use it a lot in PvP, otherwise the build looks good, maybe swap an end redux in CE for a Slow..

I'll put this guide here in case you missed it on the other thread

Loose the slots in barrage. Slotting brawl has more use since brawl can knock toggles.
Barrage is too low damage to bother with.

Use the slots in hurdle/cj instead.

Chilling embrace cant taunt in PvP, so dont bother with taunt duration.

Stun has little use. Drop it.

Get body mastery instead of fire.

Taunt in CE is for PvE and I'm not taking energy mastery like I said but thanks for the other info.

I've seen a post from Castle or Positron in the US boards sayin that they'll activate Gauntlet in PvP for tankers(because many complained that it's the only AT that doesn't have any use for his inherent),can't remember where I've seen it and when they'll put this change in-game.

i saw that too, iirc they said by i7 at the latest, i believe this to be the reason for the recent nerf to taunt in PvP

I dont know about you, but in my opinion barrage can be handy for stunning targets, so i try to include some disoriet enhances in my powers

Also whirling hands can be handy for stunning multiple targets at the same time, the energy power pool, plus is also good for holding aggro in pve, i think its a worth while power, but thats just my opinion.

Cant really suggest much for the ice primary though.

Ive never used stun because all the other powers can do the exact same thing, just keep wacking them and they wobble before you

I just need to ask a quick question though is total focus a worthwhile power?... wait ill take it to another thread...

Another useful power is air superiority, makes it much easier to take out fliers

You will want hasten in a PVP build (instead of stun would be nice)

You really really want to be able to jump tall buildings in a single bound don't you?

Personally, I quite like your build, but I play scrappers, so don't take me seriously at all! (until it's the scrapper survives the team wipe........ again!!)

having such boosted jump ability is (so far ive seen) in PvP realy usefull. Most powers do -slow, but not a -jump so they still can 'jump out of fighting' fairly easy, often used tactics used by stalkers

I agree - I spent a LOT of time scrapping my way through the PvP zones from lev 38 onwards when I had a gap in contacts. Players jumping like a bugger out of and into combat was an eye opener. My tongue-in-cheek reply was because I had never really considered the slotting to that extent.

A silly question probably... can you enhance jump enough to take damage from a "flat" jump? ie one going from level ground to level ground? Probably not, but.... just interested. I'm a flier not a jumper.

The web grenade temp power puts paid to that :P There are a few -Jump powers but they're not as common, of course a BF will get you out of that as well.

No reason not to get Icicles but Chilling Embrace is enough to prevent any AS as its autohit.

Yeah I didn't know that until a couple of days after the first post.

Is this the 'nerf' you're talkin about?!
We really have a different concept of 'nerf' LOL!
I still don't understand why you can only resist a taunt with the defence and not with resistances..
I.E.: You can miss an Ice Armor tank or a SR Scrapper with taunt but you'll hardly miss an Invuln tank or a DA Scrapper but they don't get resistance to taunt like Ice or SR...

I think the reason for the slots there is emphasis on unsuppressed movement (combat jumping). Thus only basic slot in SJ. Personally I say the slots in hurdle arent really needed.

You maybe right about hurdle but would you feel happier with slots in BU instead then, as this is the only place I really got space? I was thinking 2 x Recharge and 2 x ToHit.

[/ QUOTE ] Umm quick question, as chilling embrace currently intrupts interruptable powers, ie AS, snipe, Aid self why are you going for icicles and this slotting?
it's damage is very low even with 3 damage SO in it, one Acc SO means it's not going to hit much in PvP and it's end costs are silly. (currently it costs more than all 4 of the other ice toggles put together)

Personally I'd go for whirling hands for AoE damage.

Because non dmg debuffers wont interrupt in i7. Anyway icicles doesnt interrupt the FOTM defense base sets either (it just pops 'avoided' 'avoided' while u r ASing )

U won't be using barrage at all in PvP, better use those slots in another more useful power (i even took off barrage from my power list).
U deffo need hasten, and 3 rechrdx in hibernate. If u got spare slots, add 2 heal and 1 end mod, that way u will be fit and ready before taunt and slow debuffs wear off (if u plan on arena team pvp, that is).
Dunno why u ask us not to suggest focus accuracy. Ok, i wont suggest it, but it will be ur loss for sure.
Stun and icicles I would drop them. Icicles seems not the best AS interrupter at all. Anyway if for any reason u want to stay with it, dont slot dmg, its just wasting slots
