Not so much fun in BB

Hi all, i just wanted to ask all of you on your opinions of a incident that happened today in bloody bay, i had started dueling a scrapper called dark-stranger i think it was, all was going horribly wrong as he had + perception =) his friend luminos was watching, the roof we were fighting on was about 150ft wide i think luminos said it was, so i started jumping around him trying too bring up hide and waiting for placate to recharge, as things got more desperate and my health waned, i switched on SS and started running around him ( he kept jumping after me ) sometimes i would get close to the edge of the rooftop, it was at this point they had decided i forfited the duel by running away, and luminos sniped me, now i can totally understand where they are coming from as i was running around him trying to keep out of melee range, but i had always truthfully thought this was a valid tactic, a big argument then erupted on broadcast, as i thought i had acted accordingly to duel 'rules' as such, i just wanted to know what the masses opinions were, for future duels, so this kind of incident doesnt happen again

my opinion of duels:

Do it in the arena, so you can set all the restrictions you want.

I don't see anything wrong with what you did. I would've done the exact same thing. Using SS to stay out of melee is a common tactic.

You were right, SS to stay out of Melee from a Melee AT is perfectly fine. But you should think about the Arena next time, 1v1's in Zones are too often interupted by people 'watching'.

yes i agree there mesmer, arena is best suited for duels, just i was told i was black-listed for this incident, and didnt know quite what that meant :/ hope it isnt anything to bad

i think the problem that the blaster had was i was sometimes running around the whole of the 150ft roof to stay out of melee range, i can understand the annoyance caused by this, i just thought it was ok, once again thankyou for your replys

It just means they'll likely try to tell others you go against 'the rules' and never to duel with you. I wouldnt worry too much, people who invent rules during a match without having discussed them before a fight starts have no place to gripe. Given you are a hider type, you need to be hidden to use your AT speciality. You cant hide if you're being constantly struck, and staying out of harms way whilst a power recharges/takes effect is far from wrong.

You'll find a lot of people who gripe too much, best thing to do is just let it pass. However if they ever try to openly insult you on broadcast, or build you a bad reputation in the same manner, just remind them that his friend jumped in. If you agreed to a 1-on-1, having the enemy get their friend to sniper you is pretty much what i'd call cheating :3

No idea what this means either to be honest. I am not aware of any 1337 Bloody Bay Fight Club happening where you can be black listed from. But then again... Those that are in Fight Club are not allowed to talk about Fight Club i guess

Seriously though, I wouldn't worry about it. Just enjoy yourself. People that try to inflict a set of rules on a rules free zone, usually do it to increase their own fun and not necessarily anybody elses.

hey bud, have to say you did the right thing. I know your rep and we often team up for some great pvp sessions. And compared to others I have to say you are one of them that takes pvp for what it is: fun amongst each other. Running away from a melee type is a perfect tactic. If it wasnt, my troller would kinda be in trouble fighting a brute on full fury. The black list indeed prolly is some thought up list amongst themselves where they tell others not to fight you cause "u r t3h h4xx0r!!11!11"

My advise, next time you see em, hit em extra hard and aim for the blaster first. If they give a hard time... well you know how to reach me

I must say this is stupid behavior.

I have had some of my best PvP in BB belive it or not. Seem to do some great moves in there.

I wouldnt worry about it at all, there black list is prolly them and about 5 other ppl trying to force there own rules down other peoples throats. It doesnt seem you done anything wrong for a duel, and although these are made up rules I cant imagine anyone having an objection to you moving around while staying insdie the designated "arena". If they start giving you grief, petition them.

Duels in the PvP zones are nonsense, I can't stand people spamming broadcast with "1v1 N1nja4?", take it to the arena. The only 'rule' is to play the game.

There is if you were observing a duel you had agreed not to interfere in, then afterwards you get cranky at someone else for supposedly breaking the rules, then saying you'll blacklist them.

And with that only rule, duelling in PVP zones is fine, provided you expect other parties to jump in.

I've only ever seen a total of 2 Villians in 4 visits to Bloody Bay - it seems all the action is at Sirens' Call
