Nobody has actually said Base Raids are the only form of PvP it's just that has been their PvP experience with AoW. Just like you X, you talk about your experiences with AoW which relate to the Arena all the time. So does that mean you see the Arena as the only form of PvP? of course not it's the only PvP contact you've had with AoW like the SG's who Base Raid.
There seems to be a lot of AoW flaming from what i've read so far and it's not because we are actually bad at PvP. We have been known to beat Three Lions and even the French. Some of us, especially myself don't have an extensive range of PvP characters to use in the Arena so right away AoW are at a disadvantage but we hang in there, we participate and we do what we can with the builds we have. We win some we lose some, we even fight Three Lions in 3v3s knowing we're going to lose because they have builds to counteract ours and not to mention teams are severely uneven, but we turn up and fight for fun because lets face it that's what it's about right?
AoW aren't full of themselves, we don't come on forums and say "we're the best" and we certainly don't flame other PvPers. If people think highly of us it's because in one or more forms of PvP we made a good impression. So why do people jump on the bandwagon and see this as an opportunity to flame AoW? why is it so important to lower people's opinions of us? if people like us, want to join us or even want to mention us as a good PvP SG it's because we've earned it. So thanks to everyone who said nice things about AoW.

I've faced AoW with my VG and it was a very humbling experience(damn those storm defenders). While it could have been very frustrating for us, it was made less so by AoW's attitude.
They were happy to offer advice and didn't brag about the fact they toatlly and uttenrly pwned us.
In comparison to some other other PvP groups out there, these guys show what PvP should be about.
I really do hate these groups who go round boasting and there have been a couple of PvP groups in particulars who's attitade has galled me so much I almost gave up the idea of getting involved in PvP. On a personal level, I find arrogance in real life one of the traits I hate the most and there seems to be a hell of a lot of it in PvP.
As to AoW being the best? The reson I rate these guys is purely because they have not just found powers that work and use them over and over but because they are continually practising and trying new techniques. They are happy to share ideas and try new tactics and while they may not be considered the undisputed best PvP group, they seem to be the ones who put most time into innovation and new tactics.
Why people feel the need to knock them, I have no idea as there are certainly other PvP groups out there with much worse attitudes

I have similar experiences with Paragon defenders. The Goonies had great fun in our first base raid defense against them, and so far they have been friendly and helpful, much like every other more experienced PVPer i have met elsewhere, like stalk-obot and tainted 
This thread can be read simply as a challenge and as such there is nothing wrong in that like I said before. This is just one form of "friendly banter" like discussed in another thread. Sure, the PDs take winning seriously, but they are after fun like us as well. Plus they want to increase pvp players and totally demoralizing beginners is not the way.
If you feel people are bragging, they have every right to do so. If you think it is unwarranted, just beat them so show them their right place I think its the other posters here who are in ultra-defensive posture and need to lighten up a bit..
Sure, there are people out there in the pvp zones who have heads larger than their bodies(not counting Maxi) but usually the best PVPers here are a nice bunch after you contact them directly and go through their normal anti-slander defense (I can imagine how much slander they receive for merely PVPing so much in the first place).

we've fought u when the odds are in ur favour too because thats how u get better, i take far more away from losing a match than winning, whenever we fight we always change our characters around and often even mix our teams between AoW, 3lions and knight walkers and we always have fun

To be honest X, I dont think its aimed at you directly. more overall to the thread. on a personal level, I have found you to be talkative and freindly towards me, and are ranked highly in my book, however....
I think the objective here is to make a stance, we are a varied PVP SG, we like to cover all flavours, we excel in raids as thats what we were geared towards first (being part of a large SG, makes defending a base priority) - We dont have the correct toons yet to beat most in arena, although we still try...why? - its fun and its all expereince we still get to play at a high level, its just our challenge is somewhat differnt to yours when we are outweighed. Our pure arena toons should be ready in a few weeks. - You know this as we never turn up with a blaster or healer - but alas.. does this still make us bad at pvp? - I would personally consider most of AoW to be great PVP'ers with lots of expereince, just atm, we are in the right place with the wrong builds.- we still enjoy it despite the loss, but dont appreciate all the bad rep for trying..(from some)
AoW Are always trying to do more and more PVP, trying to introduce more to the area/raids/zones. we are trying to setup a larger community so that we can always have handfull of people to practice with at the drop of a hat instead of scheduled days..why dont you help too by joining us on www.artofwar-sg.co.uk

And for the record the best PvP supergroup on union is Super Heros In Tights with its mighty roster of less then 2 members we are undefeated in base raids, sg rumbles and even conquered sirens AND warburg at the same time.
