Dominator for PVP

Im going to start a dominator created especially for pvp. i already tried a few sets quickly to lvl6, just to get the feel of the powersets, like mind/ice, ice/ice, ice/energy.
for some reason i dont like fire or thorns/plants, but ice seems to be nice

Right now i find ice/ice to be best, as it has pbaoe slows as well as ice slick, plus the usual dominator holds and some ice blast damage and -recharge.
the ice/ice set would have a good balance between damage, holds, area effects, what do you think?

i dont know how good jack frost is, so maybe someone could post experience/opinion about jack. would not be that important, i cant use him in pvp anyway since hes lvl32. (planning to go to sirens most of the time, unless they bring lvl50 before i hit 40 )

also, do artic air and chilling embrace stack? im at work atm, i can see the description of chilling embrace, but afaik both powers got pbaoe -spd -recharge, right?
2x -spd -rech means almost no movement?

what additional pool-powers would be useful for pvp? since i would not have heals, aid other/self heal would be useful, but i dislike the long interruption time of those heals :| its more of a safe-spot heal than emergency heal..

as for the travelpower im still undecided. probably hasten/ss combined with either recall friend/tp or well-slotted hurdle for vertical movement...
would 3recharge make hasten perma or almost perma? and hows hurdle with 2 SOs?

and yes, i already read this thread, but somehow i dont like plant control at all.

thanks in advance for any tips/opinions.

Well, I have ice/ice and it's been lots of fun to play. I don't really PvP but maybe I can say something useful anyway

I think Ice/Ice would actually be one of the most control-oriented dominators around. The primary is possibly the least damaging one and the secondary is kind of control-heavy too, what with Power Boost and Chilling Embrace. Additionally, I think the lvl35 and lvl38 powers are not quite as damaging as in the other sets, I'm only lvl 33 at the moment but Greater Ice Sword numbers look quite disappointing compared to regular Ice Sword in the tests some people have done on US forums. But I bet -recharge will really drive people crazy in PvP

Jack Frost is a pretty well balanced pet with both damage and control. He has Chilling Embrace and a melee hold, as well as Ice Bolt, Ice Sword and Greater Ice Sword. His Greater Ice Sword is not disappointing, in fact it's pretty amazing. The only problem with him is that it can sometimes be hard to get him into melee.

Arctic Air and Chilling Embrace do stack and yes, things move very slowly when they're both running. Chilling Embrace has much smaller area though, AA's is the size of Ice Slick and Chilling Embrace is basically only melee range. I dropped Chilling Embrace in my last respec because I needed to pick up some pool powers, but I intend to get it back as soon as I can because it was a really nice combo. AA breaks Stealth too, and that has got to be great for PvP. Be prepared for ridiculous endurance cost, though. Ice/Ice is very endurance-hungry even without AA, I could never have managed without Stamina.

So, pool powers.. well, IMO you're going to need Stamina. I have Aid Other/Self and Aid Self boosted my survivability a lot in PvE, especially in PUGs. One interrupt reducer in Aid Self helps a lot, with two you would probably almost never get interrupted unless there was DoT on you.

If you going for ice as your primary go with nrg as you secondary unless you like consepts. Nrg is better for PvP.

Personally I would prolly take mind / nrg for the best PvP build, cause Telekinesis is quite nifty.

controllers: Ill rad , grav rad, fire kin, ice kin

AA and CE do stack, so very nicely they do.

Jack Frost I quite like, when I compare to other pets at least. He has a slight amount of control, his own chilling embrace, and an ice sword attack that I'd kill for.

"Well, they found my diary today.
They were appropriately appalled
at the discovery of the eight victims
They're now putting it all together.
Women wrapped in silk
with one leg missing
Eight legs, one body, silk,
spider, brilliant!"

Aye have to say mind is great primary for pvp. TK is great tho can be end heavy if not slotted right, terrify which is another great one for dropping folks out of fights. Personally I took thorns as a secondary for the thorntrops ability aka caltrops. Combined with tp foe is quite nasty.

Tp foe onto thorntrops - no run, jump, fly
Hold/Terror - with luck they will stand still now
Any thorn attack - defence debuff

Wait for cavalry to actually kill it.

Unless your gonna pvp in warburg which is pretty quiet, your not gonna be able to use pet, and would think that it would tend to agro the various monsters in the pvp zones.

Great fun to fight against when there's lot's of peeps running around to; they really add that sense of chaos and spice stuff up.

ooh, how well does tk work in pvp? hold them indefinatly till you kill them or?

Mind is the best primary for PvP, for secondaries, energy or thorn will be your best bet. They both hit the hardest out of dominators i think, But then energy has power boost, and thorn has aim.

I would say Energy is the most powerful secondary of the lot, plus with Bone Smasher and Total Focus you have a nice disorient effect thrown in. Power Boost is excellent in that it helps increase the effectiveness of yoyr primary powers and holds as well.

Plus you get a nice balance of melee attacks and long range.

personally ive gone for fire/energy, good damage, stuns, pets, knockback, DoT which nobody likes. does anybody know if power boost effects fire imps?

I had the same idea couple of weeks back, I already have a Ice/Ice Dom, but I wanted to try something a little different, so I've rolled up a Mind/Psi.

Making the character for PVP, but Sirens Call specifically, cause I just love that place, so how I slot anything after lvl 30 isn't a big deal for me yet.
