Hamidon Death Squad

Greetings heroes of defiant!

Since coming to the UK servers I've noticed that there are very few Hamidon raids, mostly this seems to be down to the lack of people showing up even though there are quite a few people who want to get the precious HO enhancements. Recently I've been thinking about a solution but before I attempt to change this I want to know if there will be any support......

Back on Liberty server on the US servers there was an SG known as Hamidon Death Squad, whose sole mission was to vaporize a big pile of evil goo once a night. What I have been thinking of would obviously be less often because we dont have nearly as many players, especialy at the lvl45-50 range that we need.

What I propose is that any heroes willing who are in the needed lvl range join together to hold/initiate/lead/organise a hamidon raid once a week or maybe just once every two weeks.

I know a lot of ppl will want to stay with their own SG's, I understand this and wouldnt want to drag or steal anyone from their friends and SG, but I'm tired of waiting for raids and I think its about time something was done.

Please let me know here if you're prepared to join HDS, i wont bother making it unless theres enough people to warrent it.

For anyone who EVER wants to have a raid or talk about forming one I've made a global channel called defiant raiders, anyone is welcome to join and if we can get everyone who wants to raid on there, even if they dont join HDS we can let them know when we are planning a raid.

Thanks for reading

Main reason we dont have more raids currently is because most of the people in the EU aint bothered about HOs.

There was a thread quite a while back about trying to organise weekly raids, and it was not well supported at all, infact if i remember rightly it started quite a flame war

But feel free to try and organise more, public opinion may well of changed.

I won't be able to join a sg but if you do organise a hami raid I'll be there

Defiant 50s: Generalissimo, Righteous Bob, Splortch, Brutus Cayuga
Union 50's: Chimera Obscura, Diet Anthracite, Grim Proctologist, Puny Little Minion, Raging Bitumen

In Soviet Russia, mission farm you!

yeah, some people tried to arrange weekly raids a while back...but most people just couldn't be bothered to waste a nights CoH on getting one HO.

That was a while ago though, so there are probably quite a few players who've hit 45+ since then...how many of them read the boards I don't know.

i have always wanted to do a hammi raid that works but due the fact i work shifts 90 % time i dont hear about it untill tooo late , so i would be intereted

I no longer do Hami raids because the servers clearly cant handle the load,as proven in the last hami raids on both defiant AND union.

Before the boards got wiped it was the general consensus on multiple posts and threads, that the frequency of the Hami raids were getting out of hand. At one point people were trying to arrange them every other day. There was a sort of unofficial vote and it was decided by most of the board posting heroes that the first Monday in every month would be a good time for all the server heroes of the required level to band together and have a raid. This would mean that you are more likely to get the required AT's to attend as overly frequent raids have low turnouts.

I personally see once a month as fine. I personally have about 4 HO's ( one for each of the successful Defiant raids to date ) and to be honest the length of time it takes to hold a raid combined with the randomness of the powers in the Hami enhances, I cant see me doing it more than once or twice ( at a push ) a month.

Hammi can take a while to do and for one hammi-O as a reward of 2-3 hrs clearing, holding, killing
I dont think HO's are worth the hype they used to have since ED has come on the scene.

I still think i'd only attend one Hammi a month, and with recent mapserver disconnets in hive. Stabality has become an issue when doing hammi raids.
Which i hope they rectify. Since last two raids the zone reset and thus despawned the hammidon

ok then guys, from the sounds of it you know a lot of people cant be bothered which is fair enough at the end of the day.

I would however like to raise the point that HO arent worthless since ED, not at all. now bear in mind that i remember having HO when they were 50% in two things, so i've seen HO go from the greatest thing in the game, to something rather un-extraordinary. But when you only have 4 HO you really arent going to see the benefits as much as someone who has alot more.
i have 17 on one of my toons and 7 on another, back in the days pre-ED i'd had a few powers fully HO'd and i can tell you that an energy snipe with 1dmg/acc and 5dmg/rng is something to be feared. like many of you ive been annoyed by ED but at the end of the day i try not to [censored] about it, it just means i have to think about what my toon is supposed to do, no more will i be slotting for just dmg.
in ED HO can be amazing but no one has really shown you that, plus you've had bad raid experiences mainly due to poor servers. but if you show me a toon with no HO and one with 2 or 3 in each of thier most important attacks/holds/toggles then the HO spec is gonna have a huge advantage over the SO spec.

rant over, carry on.

well as the main hami-tank, my scrapper has no HO's but my WS has 3, (gave 1 away) and i still prefer my scrapper, yes he was hurt by ed but he is still more fun to play even without HO's I am always 'up' for a community event. as ppl know, all they have to do is ask and if i am able then i will always help.

The reason given for monthly raids was down to low turn out and low success rate. Once a month got us a decent turn out and better success rate. But being as open and rare as they are this gives us the downside of grot slippers getting in and ruining it and if one goes wrong the second attempt may not be for another month.

Well Im open to suggestions. Im a little cautious of the private raid scheme as thia will put others out who deserve a shot. And it spoils the community spirit of it all. Thats the real reason I do things like Hammi Raids. For fun not HOs. I have 2 unused.

The difference between USA and EU is that the Hamidon Raids are done in order for the community to come together and all people to have some fun and mingle as well as the new level 50's to see the end game raids. So the HO numbers dont mean much to me personally and i have given all the HO i got my hands on.

Regarding future raids i want to try and pull a non holding raid but this will be an entirely private raid since it will require a lot of effort coordination and maybe try and fail scheme. Thus in order to avoid the sometimes increased tension and also the lag within the hive sch a raid attempt would have to be more private till the results are seen.

As for the amount of raids per month one sounds good and a second one in case we have a failure.

I saw a post from the USboards saying that you need about 50 trollers, if you dont run with Hammidon specific builds and AT's.
50 Trollers is a lot. I think we have somewhere 100-150 lvl50 trollers on the defiant server and tt is hard to gather the amount needed.

There are also less people on the Euro servers than the US servers so getting enough people together is also a problem, let alone players above level 45 who dont mind debt when so close to getting to level 50

As for HO's I have 4 slotted already, they are useless combined into 50+ or 50++ as the increase is minimal compared to the effort of getting them. There is also a finite amount that certain AT's can slot where both aspects of the HO are in the powers you wish to slot. Sometimes the hassle is not worth it. That said if the raids are once or twice a month I would still turn up for the community spirit.

Dont get me wrong. I think the current Hammi Calender is fine. The pros outweigh the cons. And yes we have had second attempts when the first goes south which seems fair.

As for Private Raids as I say Im open to suggestions. Especially when as you say its more of a trial and error thing. I myself want to get more up on Hammi tactics anyway.

And again I say I do it for the fun. Not the HOs. I dont rate them anyway so if I did do it for them I might not be inclined to feel a raid was worth it. The fun however is

And yes as Dime says. Less people on EU servers. In fact I think some of cryptics plans have taken too much into account who is on US servers when making game changes but thats another thread.

ok one thing i never considered was a hamidon raid for fun, its was kinda the first time but that amount of lag really isnt my cup of tea.

i know they take alot longer in some cass but has anyone considered holding Task Force races yet? if anyone is willing to make a go of this then please say because unlike the hami-raids this is something i find to be alot of fun, especialy if we get a full team from 8 or so SG's then mix and match so that theres new groups of people to play with.

comms are a good asset on these but not essential, id recommend ventrilo

It probably should be noted that the Yanks themselves have seen a big drop in the amount of raids they do and the numbers that turn up for those raids. The US have had a lull from the major raids, but there is an SG or two that have built themselves for raiding.

That said, for PvP, HOs are gold dust. They are the only thing that can seperate your build from a bog standard one and truely make you 'uber' to give you that edge.

As for TF races, I dinged 50 on my first a long time back with a Shadow Shard. They are fun, esp when there is a lvl difference.

Don't go by everything that is on these boards, both Union and Defiant haven't forgotton Hammi, each server has a lorry load of Ice cream they need to shift..

sounds like a good idea fella.

i for one am still interested in doing raids provided i'm available for the times made. making a global chat channel purel for raids would be ideal and would gladly sign up alongside you.
