Brute battles
[ QUOTE ]
Powernova is stalker fodder in Sirens and hover while tormenting brutes is dangerous when I am about, I derive a certain amount of pleasure from impaling flyers (-fly) and watching them fall into the arms of agitated brutes
[/ QUOTE ]
As one of the afformentioned agitated brutes it was much appreciated.
As everyone has said, toggle drops are the killers, though end drain works very well too.
Also, try and stalk a brute for a bit first to make sure they haven't been in a fight, so are furyless when it all kicks off, and then take them down fast.
Kinetics debuffs are nasty for a brute, as every single one of us who has tried building fury on the blue ink men (it's something everyone tries once) in Sirens will attest to.

slightly off topic, but your post made me think of another question :-
does O2 boost on my stormy controller work like clear mind and increase perception. I know in pve its handy to free held players and give them hold resistance and a minor heal, but not sure if it aids perception or not.

Seeing me is more than being CM'd, Agent Matron is mostly in Sirens CMing the heroes and though it does make things trickier it isnt the equaliser it appears in the beginning, everything is about adapting and I chose a fly/ss combo for a reason . Powernova owns my Brute but when I have had the pleasure of finding him in Sirens he doesnt last long (I dont think the battle cry of "Kill Powernova" helps ) I dont play the lone stalker, I team and I team well with regular people who know how to play and use their powers
Oh and AS is not my main power

He's not just CM'd once, but whatever.
I know you use Impale to get a ranged critical rather than AS, because it's also an immobilize and -fly.
The discussion we're having here is whether it's easy to kill him when he's teamed with the rest of the SG, not when he's on his own. You're forgetting that we team with (arguably) some of the best PvPers on the server (but by no means all of them. If we were the best, we'd quit PvP because it would be boring).
[ QUOTE ]
my blaster is ice/ice
[/ QUOTE ]
Start with Bitter Freeze ray from range, then run in and use Ice Sword and Frozen Fists. This should drop all their toggles, including the mez protection one, making the Brute vulnerable to the hold you started out with.
Then hit aim and build up and start spamming the Ice Blast, Bitter Ice Blast, Ice sword combo. Drop a freeze ray every couple of hits to keep the Brute held. It shouldn't take long to take them down then.
If the Brute is smart and has brought some Break Free's, then I suggest using your slowing powers a bit more. Chilling Embrace is a nice tactic as it nukes their recharge, meaning that they will have trouble getting their toggles up after you knocked them off. It will also stop them from running away to fast.
If you're particularly cruel and have the time for it, try dropping an Ice patch after you've toggle dropped them. It should be fun seeing them fall down over and over.
ps. Brutes are my favorite PVP target, when I'm playing on one of my Blasters
Start with Freeze Ray, it's faster and it doesn't ground you for like 3 seconds.
As a matter of fact just don't bother with Bitter Freeze Ray.

Well it seems we were having different discussions , you said when you were teamed together (in my eyes that meant just you and he) and thats all i was basing my reasoning on, not with your specific SG PVPers which is a different matter, dont forget such dynamics do not yet exist on the villain side. I also know CM triple stacks from one source but it doesnt help if i am floating above and attcking from a blind side like many sniping blasters do without the benefit of hide and stealth.

Bitter Freeze ray has much longer duration and better range. The animation isn't an issue if you use it as an opener, which is how I use it. Once in the fight it's freeze ray all the way though... and frozen touch, if you have that.

First PVP experience in BB indicated that Brutes really hate siphon speed. Its almost sad to watch them running at me VERY SLOWLY. Then meeting energy blasts going the other way.
Having said that the team that attacked us got fed dirt 3 times before I had to log and when one of them did get close I was a bit scared of incoming toggle drops or stuns. And we did have an empath and a couple of flying blasters.
I'm not saying it was a fair fight... but they started it (3 times )
Looking forward to further debuffing opportunities any time someone offers me a chance to join a team.
never really had a problem against brutes in pvp..however the only alts i've played in there are my defender, tank and two scrappers.
a swift brawl hit in you attack chain is a good bet of knocking their toggles.
capt can go one on one with a brute, dropping his acc and def pretty drastically with the amount of hamios i have ^_^ . Then its down to how well my cosmic burst goes as my other attacks from lvl1-40 are pretty weak (designed more for def debuff).
i'm more sucessful with my ma/sr scrapper, as my mez protection doesn't drop followed my my defences unless i don't have it on auto-click, plus the primary attacks do a lot of disorients.
like people have said...take them down as quick as possible. any drawn out battles will result in them getting stronger.
@Captain Solaris
Guild of Extreme Heroes "Strength is in Unity"
I found, in BB with my scrapper DM/DA, that Brutes were weak... although they tanked well, their damage output were sad..
At once instance I was, solo, tanking 2 brutes, 1 corrupter and a MM... When I finaly got one of the brutes down to a reasonable amount of hp, he would activate his super speed and scoot to safety :P
Alot of fun, but kinda waste of time being locked in combat...
Tough buggers, but depending on their choice of powers, some might have an easier time with some than others... kinda how it goes

if i recall has better damages as well as freeze ray, but as you say the animation can be timely, and while that animation is rolling , sneaky stalker team mate of the brute might behind you ready with thier lovely assasin strike.
Voila head of blaster on platter
But if brute on his own this sounds like be good opener, as i dont have ice sword in my build, some one mentioned above using brawl.
But how effective is brawl at detogging these brutes ?
k ignore last question as found out the answer in the how to drop toggles thread

You are wrong about that. You can float anywhere you want the way target cycles goes just always let us know that you are there. You get the impression we not deal with floating stalkers just because we not attack you. The thing is a stalker doesnt become primary target unless he will do significant damage tot he team. So when i know the moment you will hit me or anyone you target he will simply receive healing there is no reason to deal with that.I prefer focus on more crucial targets. Of course this not go always but dont let some tactics or playstyles deceive you that you are not being seen. Also remember that PvPers usually dont play on chase cam angle so not really any blind spots.

You were doing this as a DM/DA? Damn, those were some poor players you were fighting...
After getting my bottom spanked venturing into Bloody Bay playing my SS/DA Brute in would make the following observations on this very painful experience.
1. Fury is the key to a Brutes build. A new entrant to combat with low fury will not have Scrapper like damage output. DA doesn't get a heal until 18 and without it is susceptible to alpha strikes.
2. A Brute with lots of Fury will normally be one without much end left.
3. Builidng Fury is time consuming and requires constant attacking to maintain.
4. With points 2 & 3 in mind anything that Slows or Drains End will pose serious problems.
A Kin/Elec or Storm/Elec defender would be a nightmare. Or Ice/Storm or Earth/Storm or /Kin Controller.
Owwwwwww. I'm going to re-roll.

Of course there are no blind spots if you are checking all angles but in my meagre experience this is not always possible particularly when you are concentrating on the more obvious targets. As for the targeting cycle, I have always found that it rotates through those in your line of sight as opposed to those above and behind, I presumed this to be a programing feature.
And again, Im not refering to co-ordinated team battles where the dynamics change considerably :P

Stalk, you might think you're not being spotted but when my SG are teaming in PvP we have a little game we like to play with stalkers over teamspeak. The conversation goes a little like this.
"Oh, I see <stalker name here>"
"Where? Behind me"
"Yeah"
"OK, let him think he's got me. Wait for iiit, waaaaiiit for iiiiiit"
(At this point, the stalker begins his AS animation)
"Ok...NOW!!"

Not really, DA's have great resistance against smashing, they were both earth I could siphon their life or use my AoE heal to replenish myself, if I got down on end I just regained that by using my AoE end heal... not that hard...
Only time it begun to hurt, and they were able to get me down, was when a Stalker descided to go in with an assassins strike, if I wasn't fast enough, I was dead... (or getting stunned would do that too)

Apparently enough to deal with two brutes, a corruptor and a mastermind. Thats a hell of a lot of damage output you were soaking up. I know what an Stone/ Brute can dish out, and two of tem would simply overwhelm your resists. Add a Corruptor to the equation, not to mention the one man army core...
Like I said, you were facing four bad players if you walked out of that alive.
