I'll put in a plug here for the Cross-Server Base Tours group that Cende started - I'm guessing people mostly don't know about the Social Groups feature here (I don't, really, but it wasn't hard to figure out how to sign up). Go to User CP in the upper left corner, click on Social Groups under Networking. Look for Cross-Server Base Tours, it was on the second page when I looked, and sign up.

Regular date and time to be determined, but in the interim if you left a note with a date and time (including time zone please) you'd be available you'd probably get at least one of us to show up. Maybe even all three! Hopefully this will entice more people to actually join the group - there does seem to be a decent amount on interest in this sort of thing. Oh yes, please include toon name and zone you'd be in for contact/gathering purposes. I recommend Galaxy City as an uncrowded location that lowbies can get to safely. And yes, hover should be a must for base tour toons; if only to get a variety of angles when examining rooms and 'objects'.

Is it possible to place a crafted item inside someone else's base? I accidentally crafted 2 power plants and it seems a waste to not use it somehow. I was thinking maybe it would be possible if my base and the other person's base were in a coalition. Anyone tried this?

Since a crafted base item goes into your "personal inventory", it will stay "on the character" that created it. If you want to place an item from your personal inventory in a base, you need to be a member of that SG (because there is still a prestige "placement fee").

You could conceivably quit your SG, join another SG and place your item, then quit the second SG and rejoin your original SG.... if you have someone to re-invite you. I would suggest NOT using your leader toons to do this.

That's part of the problem. I had considered the "quit-join-place-quit-join" scenario, but 2 things make it difficult:

1) The toon with the generator is my Leader and I don't want to give up my star.
2) I'm pretty much the only real live person in my SG. There are technically one or two others, but they haven't played in QUITE some time. I don't 'bump' them just to avoid prestige loss.

Guess I'm just stuck lugging this generator around.

A35: Functional items require refined materials. So, for example, the steps for creating a Basic Telepad go something like this: 2 Body Armor + 1 Black Market Superstuff = 1 Tech Power. 6 Tech Power = 1 Basic Telepad. Once you have enough material for the functional item, you can create it just like you created its materials.
Question, the procedure you show here, is this the exact steps required in making a base telepad? If so, the body armor listed, is this salvage or something we have to refine from salvage. If that is the case, what salvage is required and from what platform (type forge/table) is needed? Lastly, what is 'Black Market Superstuff' and where do we acquire this from? Thanks!

KnightofKhonsu,

Some the guides here are from back before they got rid of base salvage. With base salvage gone all base items are now crafted using invention salvage.
To craft the telepads you need a basic forge in your base. In the forge will be the current salvage requirements to create a basic telepad.

The current requirements are listed here:

http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Basic_Telepad

Note, you do not need all of those items - arcane and tech telepads have three possible recipes each, listed thusly:

recipe
or
recipe
or
recipe

I wouldn't have spelled that out, but in some old threads a few people were reading recipes as being top to bottom instead of across a line.

How can you change the color of the SG banners or the logo on them?

I've heard about it several times across this board and seen screenshots that have several banners of different colors and with different logos on them in the same base.
Is there an interface for that I didnt find?

Also: How can you turn items to angles between 90 degrees? I recall I accidentally did that a long time ago with some wall items but cant recall how. Does this only work with few select wall items?

I'm pretty new to base building, so if there's a better way, I'm sure someone will post it... but what I did, was place a Cubicle, then place a wall torch on the Cubicle wall. Delete the Cubicle, now, attach your wall item to the wall torch. It takes some finagling, but the wall item rotates on the torch at odd degrees.

You have to go into the SG settings from the SG window to change the colors & symbol.

Note that if you try to reuse the same banner (i.e., Small Tech Banner 1) after changing the colors & symbol, all the instances of that banner change as well. So if you want a rainbow of colors & symbols, make sure to use Small Tech Banner 1, Small Tech Banner 2, etc., for each set of different colors.

Ah, so the stuff that's already in the base is not changed when you change the SG colors or logo, I see.
That worked fine, thanks a lot!

Q22: When I'm placing decorations, how do I put things on top of other things?
A22: Practice.

This doesn't help me. How do you put bottles and jars on top of desks? There has to be a way.

Well, considering that the OP is dated six years ago, and we were spinning desks to take advantage of a bug that allowed us to stack things.... it made sense then. lol

For a more current answer, check a few threads down...

Please, can someone tell me how to get wall items elsewhere in a room besides on the walls? I've seen some pretty neat constructions using wall items but haven't figured out how they move them. Explanation or link would be awesome!

I use the Steel Cabinet. This cabinet can be "stacked" out horizontally from a wall, and wall items can be "attached" to the sides of it. Then sell off the Steel Cabinet(s). I hang 12 of them in midair that winds up inside the pillars of the Teleport Pod so I can "mount" the beacons to the front of the Pod's pillars.

I personally use the cubicle found in other furniture. The walls of the cubicle act just like a regular wall. Additionally, now that items can be rotated, you can set them at an angle to get the effect of open doors and such. Perfect for an open safe. The only problem is that the safe door that is the personal salvage storage item is transparent from the inside looking out.

Rotated as in less than 90 degree jumps? If so, how is this achieved, as I still seem limited to the 90 degree turns.

Thanks! I had completely missed that these improvements had been made.

Other than the addition of using shift/alt/ctrl with the mouse in the base editor to control position/orientation of objects, and the hacked/magicked 'pads, was anything else about bases changed in the last 2-3 issues? I haven't seen any new decorative items, and AFAICT the existing ones haven't been given "undies".

I admit I haven't been reading *all* of the release notes for each issue.

Off my head the only other change I can recall is that the salvage bins now sort alphabetically.
