Kinetics
Yep if used right Repel is a good power and i love it.
But it can aggro a whole room if not used right . handy if you get a melee attack after you :P

yeah, lucky for you, unlike the rest of us, you've had years of practise using 'repel' on the opposite sex!

LMAO!
PMSL!! One of the best jokes i came across this week.
Repel + TP foe in pvp is awesome
Don't like it on my defender, but it has had it's endurance cost dropped since I respecced it out (within a week ).
But what I wanted to say was: Take Kinetics. Brutes + kinetics seem to be a match made in heaven, and my CoV main is a Brute.
That is all.

Just like all those Scrappers and Tankers loving you in CoH land eh?
Repel great in PvP against stalkers, absolutely [censored] in PvE,
Interesting how opinion on Repel is so divided. I got it last night on my Nrg/Kin Corruptor and feel it makes me melee proof. I intend to three slot it with end redux and see how I get on. Seeing as I will be mainly soloing I think it will be really useful.
I'll let you know how I get on.
Currently I've ignored Repel. I might get it later.
If it's like Hurricane then its a two-edged sword in PvE. Can be brillant when there's a group in an alcove or against a wall. You can have them permentantly on there backs (no, not like that. This isn't Grand Theft Auto). But it can really irritate your meleers.
But the fact it costs end for each knockback put me off. Didn't know it had been reduced (or is this just the across-the-board I6 drop?). There's too many other cool Dark / Kinetics powers I want first so I could repel having to wait until the mid to late 20s...

Yup never took it on my defender but on the PvP corrupter I will eventually, since the end reduction it might not be as end heavy as it was which was a nightmare even slotted for it.
Depends on how you play really like Nova said, PvE its kinda mince but good in PvP, like a lot of kinetics powers they dont cross over well but its dependant on your intentions
How do you guys all use Repel then?
I don't intend to run into a room and send everyone flying - whats the point? As a Nrg Corruptor I excel in one on one situations and this would be a recipe for disaster.
I intend to use it as armour. Basically play as usual, cautious, carefull target selection and sneaky but when I end up being over run by a mob have them flying all directions before I faceplant and then effect my escape.
The way I figure it I should be able to considerably mitigate melee damage which can only be of benefit in the long run and aid my survivability.
I have another Kinetics question. Sipho power slotted 2x Acc 3x Recharge and 1x End all TO's at present, how many times could I stack the buff? I think I could be onto a winner here!
Well Repel is what you make of it really... I used to act as a living hold by running up to the hardest boss (usually those horrible lost rectors or whatever the psychic things are called) and bouncing them against a wall till everyone had killed the rest of the baddies.
I also used it as a shield against melee badguys :3
The only downside is that it's quite hard sometimes to only bounce the enemy you want to if you're trying to keep one out of the fight, some enemies can still attack while being bounced to death (though their attack rate does feel drastically reduced) and more imporantly, in the higher levels some baddies start getting knockback resistance meaning it has little to no effect on them :s
Still fun though; specially if you go on a roof full of badguys, get your team to wait at the bottom and turn it on right in the middle of the enemy crowd XD
I tend not to use it in teams as it's usually not needed. Solo, I try and push nasty stuff (bosses, mezzers) into corners and keep them knocked down.

Three times is the max.
IIRC Repel was metioned specifically as having had it's end cost reduced in addition to the across the board reduction... but as I said I haven't re-taken it yet (what with having just unlocked fulcrom shift and all (sweeeeeeeet)
wow, interest in a post i started for once...
i tend to use repel teaming and soloing, mainly for any bosses of elites/AVs i come against, and i kno that some have variable resistance to it, that i found the hard way several times.
but when teaming i can normally find a point where im standing on the target and sometimes they bounce away, but others they stay put, makes it much easier than being 1 hit ko'd multiple times.
"i'm a villain, show me where it says i have to play fair against foes in pve..."
Personally I use siphon speed and siphon power a lot Great in the PvP zones

How do Kinetics powers not cross over well?
I'm quite effective in PvP and PvE in teams and solo (depending on who I fight). You can boost your damage and speed, heal yourself and your team and gain endurance. Increase Density stops your team mates getting kidnapped by anyone with TP Foe. Inertial Reduction is a good SJ power as you can use it and not have to worry about getting away after being held. Repel doesn't drain endurance like it used to and I can stand in a MM mob and send them into disarray. Repel is useful in PvE for sending lone enemies back into the fray.
I am a big fan of using Repel as armour. The only problem I find at the mo is the end cost per bounce but I am hoping to see an improvement when I get onto DO's (Still a young pup!)
In PvP it'll be great for AT's like Claws scrappers who rely on lots of rapid strikes I should imagine they will only get about 30% of their usual attack rate - what with the constant bouncing.
I also intend to slot Siphon Power enough to be hitting the three buff maximum on a constant basis whilst in combat. Do any of you other guys do the same thing?
Probably everyone.
Hmm why do i think its [censored] in team PvE, think about it, kinetics ethos you heal around an enemy, so basically meleers and melee range is your best positioning in battle, For group heals, fuclrum shift, transference, Its all centered around being amongst foes in a tight battle. What does repel do? it totally [censored] everything up, you end up knocking foes away left right and centre, spreading the battle and ruining positioning in battle. Sure its can be used as an oh [censored] button, but face it NPCs are going to use range attacks to, and you'll get aggro and get faceplanted along with a teamwipe followed. Also think about it, its sucks endurance dry, you go near an enemy, oo wait its repelled out of transference range. Completely [censored] power for PvE. I never even bothered picking it up first time round, but i've seen many kins use it and generally it sucks, along with the defender themselves. And gives us a bad impression. If someone can use it well, and make me think its great in PvE please send me a tell on defiant i'd like to see you use it, and change my mind about the power.
On the other hand in PvP its great, you can keep blasters in duals floored, as control, stalkers aren't a worry to us. scrappers can't stay in range long enough to kill us. Hence PvP good.... PvE absolutely [censored].
Shame I'm on Union then.
Get an enemy in the corner and you can keep them there on the ground. They don't move away and you can keep them out of the fight till u can deal with them.
Its better used on single enemies not groups. It doesn't drain your end like it used to (I have Stamina though.)
Uh... I did mention I used it to totally disable bosses in missions already right?
I played "keepie uppie" with most troublesome key badguys while everyone cleared out the lower ones then if the team was all ranged we could clay pidgeon shoot him ^^
Sadly that was back in CoH US so I can't show you it in action without making a new char :3
to all the kinetics 2ndrys out there, am i alone when noticing that repel can seriously nail anything, for exalmple, when teaming resently, one circle of thorns madness mage kept wiping our party, til using repel, i literally "pinned" him to the floor and so he couldnt even stand up so me and team went to town on him. now, anyone else noticed this? as it can really help in solo and teams so, was wondering others thoughts.,..
ps, please forgive bad spelling, as on public termianl designed for duribility rather than usefullness, so often making mistakes..
