To PVP or not to PVP?

They really need to do something about the instant PvP on/PvP off functionality implemented in the zones.
As it is now, you pound a lot on an enemy, and it just flees back into safe territory to recuperate... absolutely disgusting display of cowardice .
While it shouldn't necessarily be as long as it is in WoW, the model they use there is great - and would be a so much better solution than the currently implemented system; if you engange in PvP and flee to a safe zone, you remain PvP enabled for X minutes.

Whats to stop them just leaving the zone rather than waiting in the safe zone? Same net effect, just more time wasted. The WoW model only works because of how Friendly/Contested zones are setup, and even then it has its flaws.
So make it impossible to zone when PvP flagged, I agree with Pvt on this the current cowardice displayed by some people is sickening.

Not exactly.

Works pretty much like safe/pvp zone within the pvp zone... only without the time limit.
Maybe the thing to do is to take the battle deeper into the city, thus beeing further away from safe zone and also people might be more stratigic in fights if being killed takes them longer to get back into the fight.
Example:- fighting on the beach it took 5 minutes to take a good tanker down, cheers of joy ring out "hes down", 1 second later groans go about "he's back"
Too many 50's to list here's a few you may know.
Slazenger, Area51, Area53, Area54, Erruption, Mind Plague, Thresher, Sheath, Broadside, Debt
Indeed, I'd also recommend fighting in the city or away from the beach for those who want a fight without interuptions (The arena works well for this, too.)
I've decided not to PVP on Zortel. I'll go to the zones and do what missions i can (7k exp and inf for the recover stolen weapons misson in Warburg, yum.), but I just don't feel right, as the only way I can survive with her at the moment is attacking from stealth from behind. Makes me feel all villainy. :<
yeah its a good point. especially with those sneaky blasters.
bah remove safe zones ...although i agree with ringko the whole fleeing away is not good....
Yesterday I was fleeing away a lot into the safe zone because I was trying to get a feel for the zone (and I was playing mostly solo).
As I got my bearings and gained confidence I tried to stay more and more in the zone, until I would only come out after a Nova.
Mind you, my tactic is stealth, hit and run, stealth. I'm a blaster after all
I second that, the running away when I get your health low, then coming back and backstabbing me when i'm fighting someone else really got me fuming.
Now @Eskimo-Spy
I'm not evil.
There shouldn't be a safe zone at all.

There needs to be some sort of safe zone so that you don't get ganked as soon as you arrive. Consider an 8 man team with different connection/processor speeds arriving one at a time with each successive member finding a hostile 8 man team and a pile of his friends' corpses as soon as the zone loads....

Its up to the people playing: Do you want to be a hero or a coward.
Btw you allways got the awesome TP-foe
50s
controllers: Ill rad , grav rad, fire kin, ice kin
blaster: ice em
scrapper: spines sr
It is very annoying. Last night a PD team was fighting a bunch of other heroes, and one of the blasters would stand as close to the safe zone as possible and use long range attacks - then retreat as soon as anyone came close. Until I snuck around the back a few times and used my knockbacks at least

See, workaround
And see how often heroes want to fight other herroes once villains are high ebough to be in amongst the mix...

Yeah, found that too in Warburg doing the rocket mish'. On Sunday morning as it happens.
Had some good scrapes from a team determined to foil our plans, but we managed to see 'em off with a sound thrashing every time.
Funny thing is a few did the yo-yo thing in & out of the PVP area & snuck back in for some sneaky attacks to find another pounding.
Even better, after that, when we finished launching the rocket, mission accomplished, most of us dropped out for lunch, and the rest of us got sneakily jumped by one of the persistent few who seemed to have spent his downtime rounding up a differeant noticeably more suitable team tooled for a mugging. And mug they did. The attack caught the few of us by surprise & our defender & controller went down in short order (but valiantly I might add). So tbh, just as the previous players had done to me, I legged it to safety. Well, it seemed to be ok for everyone else to do, & I have hardly any previous PVP experience anyway, so monkey see monkey do .
Now, the thing is, it gave me a chuckle to hear "coward" & "chicken" bandied about over b'cast from some heroes that had behaved the same way over & over for the best part of a solid hour.
End of the day, we got the rocket launched .
It's ok tho' if someone can't handle themselves, then maybe they should go get a lot more, bigger buddies to hide behind, and wait until they can pick on heroes who are almost on their own .
I'd be happy to go down fighting in a good straight fight, but I'll make lazy fighters work for their cheap victories. They better shout "coward" louder tho', 'cos I'm already too far away to hear 'em, flapping my new "Ba-GAAWK!" bind.
A couple of things that I learnt from what I was told in my first PVP outing:
Apparently honour doesn't matter if you are in a team mugging a smaller team & retreating is ok for some people to do but not others. Laugh out loud.
meh, ive never really liked the concept of PVP much ,didnt stop me logging on as my villain and sitting near safe zone with PFF on, wtaching my robots fire holes in heroes while they tried to land a blow, lol, i didnt even attack them technically my robots were the on es firing lol. for me PVP is forcing other players to think strategically and also to annoy them in new more hillarious ways
Well I tried 2 of the zones last night. Sirens call was good fun running around in a good team fighting in the hot zones. In the end it was a bit like hunting in the hollows so I moved on to Warburg. I managed to scout the entire island untouched then got mugged on the way back to the carrier
I managed to TP out of harms way and lost my pursuer. I then had a look at the beach where hero pounded on hero. I can't say I liked it much. I will reserve final judgement until I play on a team versus villains.
After I was spotted and attacked I let loose with Tenebrous Tentacles and was suitably unimpressed with the results. I don't think I hit one of my opponents. I did use my wedding band power to save me from the attentions of a claws scrapper but when his 3 teammates arrived I went down. I think I will have to rethink my plan for PvP. I don't see me actually taking part in combat. I will need to flit in and out healing and buffing or put range enhancements in to work out of the vicinity of combat.
PS
I would like to thank all the hero's who didn't attack me when I popped a res rather than go all the way back to hospital. Much appreciated
