Unless you're gifted something, I think it would be impossible to do it with NO exp... Is there a way to get inf without any inf on hand, and without earning exp? I can't think of any. Even dealing in 1 inf salvage you have to have that 1 inf and five more for a listing fee.

Edit: It just occured to me that you could turn off your xp gain as soon as you created the toon, so I guess it would be possible after all.

Turn off xp.

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

Couldn't you turn off XP right away? That way you can get a little inf to start without getting any XP.

Ahhh ....not a bad idea ...hmmmm. Is there any other way to get some starter INF? My goal is to have some INF without involving a transfer OR actual fighting (even with XP turned off)

there is no way to get infl/inf without fighting or transfer. well maybe hope you can get really lucky and win a CC without ever fighting.

I am aware of no way to get influence without a gift of influence or enhancement or recipe or salvage to sell to an NPC that does not involve defeating a foe.

Now if turn off exp and let a teammate fight, then you aren't technically fighting but at this point that is just silly.

The only way I can think of that *might* work is if you can get a fedex or a patrol mission as your first task from your first contact. Then you could complete it with xp gain off, and get a little starter inf. The problem with that plan is I think all of the first missions are preset... I know Azuria has a fedex mission, but it's never the first one she gives you. Not sure if that's the case for all the other starting contacts.

Or, I suppose you could just drop the first mission you get. Then you'll get the completion inf reward with no fighting.

I had considered at one point rolling up a toon that would never fight, would just try to level all the way to 50 by dropping a mission every 3 days... but that's even sillier than trying to get a billion with no inf.

Isn't there an exploration badge in the front door of City Hall? Watch out for that XP!!

You could pick a mission and use the "drop mission" feature to drop it right away. This should give you some starter inf (not much).

As far as I know, you don't get XP from badges if you haven't actually gained at least one XP before.

Edit : oops, didn't notice it was already said 2 posts above.

If you do the tutorial, you can sell the two Tier 3 inspirations you get during training. Those will net you 10K or so heroside, or more if you're lucky. You would have to play the tutorial with XP turned off though.

That should work, but I obviously haven't tried it.

right but he wants to do it without fighting...

Plus you cannot sell in the markets without startup influence.

The lack of market slots would be the most hurtful part, IMO.

49 500 or so even con minions to level 50
A mission bonus is what 10 minions (lets be generous and say 20)
at 20 thats a mere 2475 mission drops, or 20.3 years.

Don't forget arc bonuses! That's gotta drop at LEAST 0.3 years off! :-D

There was a guy early on named "City Man" or something similar. His goal was to defeat one [1] enemy and make a ton of money from there. He acheived it, but apparently even with the gained market slots [selling 50 items, then I think you get one for 1000, 3000, 5000, items] it was miserable and slow making money.

Game called on account of boredom.

So you think you're a hero, huh.

Yes. I made a character about a year and a half ago with this exact idea in mind.

So far i've made a little less than 100 million.

Since I made the character before turning off xp was an option, making initial money was a matter of luck. While running through Atlas Park, Longbow shot up a few Hellions nearby. For some reason the person they saved thanked me, by giving me 3 influence. I took that to the market and purchased 3 Bleeding Stones for 1 inf each back when that was possible with uncommon salvage. Taking that to the store, I sold it for 3,000. Did that a couple more times with uncommons, and buying a single high level recipe, confuse or taunt. A few trips later i had 50,000. From there I started salvage flipping my way.

The major hurdle being a level 1 has 3 salvage slots, 1 transaction slot, and 1 recipe slot. After alot of low level salvage flipping, I had saved up around a half million. I carefully made my way to Steel Canyon to start working on a few 25-30 memorization badge for the extra salvage slots.

Currently I have 11 salvage slots, 2 transaction slots, and the same single recipe slot. So far Salvage Flipping has been the only realistic way to make money. Its profitable, salvage is stackable in transaction slots, and the only way to gain additional transaction slots is through selling items with flipping being the quickest way. Its very slow going early on, even now with 2 transaction slots and 20 possible sales at once I have still have not got the Retailer Badge. Rare salvage is still the way I use to make money even though the AE caused rares to vanilla out at 500-800k. Profits are down but options are up.

So Yes, it is possible to make money with zero xp and zero combat. I'd probably have more had I not lost interest in the character for 6 months, letting the old 60 day limit eat my stuff once or twice.

impressive!

I gave up on the idea of taking a low level toon to riches on a new server.. just didn't hold my interest long enough.
