SIDKICKS?!?
Okay, you probably should have just asked for a Mod to move your other thread.
That said, why didn't you incorporate any of the critiques of this idea into the repost? There were people who had valid concerns in your other thread, but you didn't transfer any of that over.

If you're sure you're going to get a lot of negative feedback and inversely, little positive feedback, perhaps ... no wait, I like posting replies. Nevermind.

but what if you can actually buy a sidekick for 1 mill, and he would be your private sidekick, you can buff him and run solo missions or team missions... when he kills u get half the xp and half the inf.

....Really?
This is not a feature I would ever use. I wouldn't pay anyone a million inf to earn less reward. If I was lonely, I'd find a teammate that actually hopefully knows how to play the game, not some stupid AI.

There's a class called a mastermind that does this already. I don't have to pay a million inf, and I don't lose any experience. On top of that, soloing is a breeze because of all my 'teammates'.
Play a mastermind.

I wasn't planning to, but since you mention it...

/No to rent-a-buffbot."
On the other hand, as I said in the other thread my pre-pet Controllers with teamcentric secondaries would love it, and I might even be willing to play Defenders. Yes, it would be bad if poorly implemented, but the idea has potential I think.
Arc #40529 : The Furies of the Earth
Well, my first thought was that this sounds a lot like a Guild Wars feature. I tried to decide whether I wanted to post that, as it really has no bearing on the thread, when I realized that at those prices, very few would be using that feature, which is something that is considered when deciding what goes into the game. On the other hand, as was mentioned earlier, there ARE folks that wouldn't move without dual RAs and Three Speed Boosts, so lowering the price isn't exactly feasible, either.
It's possible that excluding those two power sets from the rent-a-minion feature might help it along, but I don't see a great deal of support for the idea. I could be wrong though, so good luck.

And mine would find it a waste, since (a) I'm perfectly capable of soloing (and do - see the thread on how many of what AT you make, I make a *lot* of controllers, and a good number of defenders) and (b) don't particularly feel like paying for an aggro-happy AI.
I didn't particularly care for the feature in Diablo II, nor do I like it in Guild Wars. I definitely don't want to see it here. You want to play with AI "friends," go make a mission with some in AE.

No, in that scenario *I* would be the buffbot. What defenders lack is damage.

I have plenty of Controllers; that doesn't mean I like slogging until 32, which many do. As for Defenders, Going Rogue and Power Proliferation has inspired me to delete my last surviving one. Why play an anemic Defender when I can play a Corruptor ?

customization would be just like when you make your own toon make him wear whatever and give him a name choose his powers and such, i know what your thinking well it would make you too powerful but he can be capped at lvl 40 so when your a 50 he will remain a side kick only..let me know what you think peeps.

By the time you have any need at all for help, regardless of AT, build, play style or whatever, you can enter Bloody Bay and get a five pack of Shivans.
And they don't steal your XP/inf/prestige/drops, or cost anything but time. Oh, and you can get them as many times as you like. You can even go get them in the middle of a S/TF.
No point at all adding NPCs and tying penalties to them when you can get Shivans so quickly and easily.

This really isn't such a bad idea as everyone seems to be making it out to be. If you think about it, we already have the potential to do what the OP is suggesting. We can add an ally in a mission that isn't surrounded by enemies located in the front of a map on MA. My personal favorite ally is an Ill/Emp or Ill/Kin, but you can make anything you want really. Keep in mind it will detract from any xp and rewards, but it is an effective crutch to missions.
What I'm getting from this suggestion is to create a place where you can hire bodyguards to follow you around for influence. I've played in a few MMO's where you are able to do this, the first one that comes to mind is Ultima Online. Since you can already do this in missions, I don't see why it would be bad to have it while your in the streets. Any type of bodyguard you hire could use templates from MA.
The only complication I could see with something like this is making your bodyguard zone in and out of missions with you.

If you can't play the set 'til 32, or find it "slogging" you're doing something wrong. *Any* set. Illusion aside, pets aren't *that* big a deal. Yes, even with Fire. And that doesn't touch on Mind, which doesn't *have* a traditional pet.
If all you can see are damage numbers and think that's all that matters, stick with blasters and brutes.
[ QUOTE ]
As for Defenders, Going Rogue and Power Proliferation has inspired me to delete my last surviving one. Why play an anemic Defender when I can play a Corruptor ?
[/ QUOTE ]
Better numbers on the buffs/debuffs. And Corruptors are going to find themselves just crammed in the same place as Defenders when it comes to "Why take them when I can take a Controller instead?" Especially with buffs/debuffs at the same level - and Corruptors not getting Empathy.
You'll do less with your buffs, debuffs and heals than a Defender. So yes, compared to a same-set Defender, the Corruptor will be the one seeming "anemic."
You'll do less damage (until Scourge kicks in) than a Blaster.
And a Controller will still quite often be more effective on a team, being able to lock down mobs and keep them from doing *anything,* while providing roughly the same level of buffing/debuffing as you.
Right now, the only real reasons (besides, obviously, sides) to pick a Corruptor or Defender are specific powerset combos, and personal preference.

Did I say that it's all that matters ? No, it doesn't. It DOES however make finishing a mission less of a crawl. Nearly all missions involve killing things, and that requires damage.

Again, damage. And because controllers don't play like corrs, while defenders play like anemic Corruptors ( or Corruptors play like buffed defenders ). Corruptors are more fun for me to play because they can finish missions faster, and get their offensive powers sooner.

Which is a seriously underpowered set for a petless soloer, which is the exact character this proposal would appeal to.

But Blasters don't have the survivability of Corruptors, or of Defenders for that matter.

And if I was talking about teams you might have a point; but I wasn't so you don't. If I'm on a team I don't need an AI sidekick in the first place.
