Fire/Regeneration help please?

Unfortunately, my Regen build on Mid's is really old, and so is my Mid's.

My regen has like 80% recharge - over 90 if I dropped PvP IOs in it.

Here are some suggestions though.

Fire Sword: Drop it for scorch; replace the crushing impacts with 4 makos and two procs

Confront: 4 slot it with perfect zinger

SS: drop the zephyrs, you don't need end redux. Just drop one generic run speed IO in it.

Combat jumping: add a kismet proc

Targeting drone: remove the chance for BU

MoG: Take out the kismets. Trow 4-5 red fortunes in it, depending on how many 5% rech sets you have

Incinerate: Drop it unless you plan on doing alot of melee vs melee action. I have it on my build, but I'd probably drop it if I ever bothered to respec.

Swift: drop it for hurdle, and two slot it since you don't have SJ (same as my build; SJ is what I'd drop incinerate for).

GFS: Drop the heca Dam/end for the proc

Hasten: just two generic recharge IOs should do it

There's a lot of advice on here, and I would consider some of it in bad form. I have a Fire/Regen Scrapper that I pvp with all the time. He has a 3 - 4 billion influence build. There are some things I want to clarify...

1) Properly built regens are hard to kill, but not impossible no matter how they're built. For proof of this I offer up my SS/WP Brute which never loses duels with regens, and these are well built regens with veteran players behind them.

2) Phase CAN be a good power if played appropriately, but you have to use up more power choices to get to it, which can be detrimental in the long run.

3) Fire Sword Circle is not a power I would drop. It gives the ability to hit a mob if you're standing in on, say like a MM mob, or a group of players. It also allows for another purple set, which will raise your acc and rech, along with having a nice proc.

4) The Fitness set is needed on a regen, period.

5) Tough, combined with Resilience and the PVP inherent resistance makes a nice stackable resistance when going against SS brutes, and is very helpful.

6) Regen and Recharge are the best things to focus on when building a Regen Scrapper.

7) I've had both the Body Mastery and Weapons Mastery sets and they are both very helpful. Weapons has caltrops and webnade, both of which are very useful in PVP. Body has the new Physical Perfection which will help with Regen and placement of unique IO's.

Bottom line is I have one of the more successful regens on my server and I would be willing to help you out if you need it. I have no intention of debating on a public thread though, as some people here are out to do nothing but troll and argue. Let me know if I can be of assistance.

I am in the same boat as Sanctorium

I have my newly finished lvl 50 fire regen built for the sole purpose of joining in on the zoned pvp goodness that freedom has become

I have followed most of the advice here and I am learning how to play zone pvp with over 20 toon running around . It resembles a WW2 dogfight with MM acting like safe zones/aircraft carriers with corrs and Dom sortie ing out to engage hero toons and try to lure them to the multi MM death trap and stalkers lurking about like klingon battlecruisers decloaking 2-3 at a time to wipe you out if you pin down one of the corr or dims and try to slug it out with them

sanctorium please understand what survival means in that environment

you have to kill quick hit phase and heal as you run away
rinse repeat
sometimes that Dom you webnaded was bait for a team of stalkers and you have to quick witha heal if only one or phase if more than one
occassionaly if run down a villian and he did not have protection and I get a nice little "mini duel and get a clean kill
better is when the team leader calls out abtarget and you gang up on one or someone kills the MM and that destroys their safe haven

chaos beautiful chaos

but survival is have the right tools and strategy to deal with multiple threats in an extremely Fluid situation

I did experiment with more resist (just for you) in the form of oranges and the wedding band temp power
yeah it did take the sting out of the stalkers AS but 3 at once is still insta kill due to timing and lag

Ok Sanct, I have been following along with you the whole time and reading all the advice

definately some conflicting advice, because there are so many aspects of pvp

I have build for you that contains some of everyones advice

plus my onw ideas from a whooping 1 week of playing my fire regen on freedom zone pvp

focused on these in order RC/regen/dam buff

The Rc (+135) allows me to fire off scorch every 1 sec, since it has the highest dam/sec, I thought this would be good
my burst damage attack is GFS for about double damage (please crit, please)

The RC also has me in perma dull pain, meaning perma max HP 2400
and recon (54% HEAL) is up every 17.8 sec

My base regen is 728% and 1722% with Instant healing

I also fit in 2 +end proc, could fit in a 3rd if needed but it would ding me RC a tad.

I took FSC as a mule for some 10% regen, since I only need 2 attacks

I still have on question, (cuz I am still noobish) do I need confront/Taunt?
and what is it's tactical use in PVP, zone and arena, 75% range reduction and makes my target have to reacquire/retarget me again. yes very annoying, maybe remove FSC for taunt?

Thats a good build if you plan on never going to any other zone to PvP, but I need more flexibility. It is a nice build though, it gives me ideas for mine. How should I slot Targeting Drone?

When I say that a regen played right is unkillable in a 1v1, I really mean it. Being a veteran player only means so much. As one could be a veteran in a field with not-so-diverse PvP experience. I've played regens in zone fightclub, the test server ladder, and casual arena since i4 beta. Trust me, you do not need tough - and in i13 you really "cant be bet".

Guess PvP is like road racing, you can have a fast car but if you don't have the driving skills to match the power you can't extract its full potential.

New build, tried to keep recharge as high as possible, dropped boxing, tough, confront. Picked up Hurdle, Health, Stamina. I picked up FSC because it has some really nice bonuses and in the occasional PvE I want to have one AoE.

Confront is REALLY good.
A. It allows you to be useful in team situations
B. It has a -75% range effect, which is amazing

Also, Scorch >>> Fire Sword.

I'd get rid of grant invisibility and get invisibility. Slot a stealth IO in sprint. Not all people in PvP have +perception. Makes for another way to evade if they don't if needed.

Sanc, I think the best thing you can do right now is to go PvP with your Fire/Regen and start to get a feel for it yourself.

I figure that much but I'd like to finalize my build before I sink some influence into it.

How do you deal with cold wielding foes? It feels impossible to even land an attack against them, my recharge, regeneration, recovery, run speed are all debuffed to hell.

How should I time my heals? I use IH at 75% health > DP at 60% > Recon at 40%, and then MoG at 30%. I still find myself face planting against other melee type characters. I fought an SS/Fire Brute and got worked . I mean I could use Phase Shift but that just seems counter intuitive to fighting because the will regenerate while I can't fight back...

if you have good HP and recharge bonuses you shouldn't be getting wrecked by much brutes unless you FC them with full fury, even then...dying is pretty iffy.

Only thing that should kill a regen is a debuffer.

pretty sure silit had zero problems fighting my fire/cold (he won 1-0).

Then what strategy would you suggest? The brute I was fighting said they had capped fire damage resists so I'm not sure how that would factor into the fight other than causing it to be longer and drawn out.

God this is pissing me off, I keep getting owned by ******* endurance draining enemies. I just got worked by an elec/elec brute and he drained my endurance bar. I tried using MoG to recover but it just didn't work, wtf? How are regenerators supposable unkillable? What do I keep doing wrong?

I just fought another SS/Fire brute and got worked again. The amount of damage they produce is ridiculous and I'll get them down to about half health before they hit healing flames and go back to about 90% of their health.

I started this fight off with IH and went about 75% dp which put me at the scrapper hp cap then MoG at 50% and then Recon at 40% but it still didn't make a dent. This is really discouraging.

Any help?

You know recon is your fastest recharging heal, RIGHT? Use it first.

IH is slightly more potent when used with dull pain, due to regeneration being a percent of your HP per second.

You should be able to recon->DP->recon before needing IH.

Obtw, barrier vs forum mod.... Barrier wins :S, I care not to go into it tho lolzy as it is.

I should have known that duh lol. When should I use MoG? Obviously in dire situations like no endurance or health but are there any other not so obvious situations that I might need it?

20/30% is a good marker of when to use it - pending on what you are fighting. I'd use it before DP or IH generally. Don't get caught up in a certain method though. Tailor your play style to the situation. MoG is sometimes best used offensively, like when fighting a player with a targeted heal.
