Huh. Why would removing the Fog of War be useful?

... unless... Maybe you can use it in the Shadow Shard?

And for a while things were cold,
They were scared down in their holes
The forest that once was green
Was colored black by those killing machines

Shard would be cool, as it would also in the troll tunnels for the odd Cavern. But there are mission I want to cruise through that if I could hit the fog off, would eliminate some branch guessing (especially those huge dang lab maps). Nostalgic quick Katies (2nd mission) it would be gold.

now more than ever I am filled with rage about the misleading instructions that led me to create a new CoV account when I bought the game, instead of just adding it on to my CoH account.

so why close your coh one then?

I didn't, I closed my CoV-only account, but not before I sunk many months into it.

There were no vet rewards at the time and blue side didn't appeal to me post-ED, so I wasn't really worried about it.

Then they added vet rewards and I engaged in a multi-week wrangle with customer service trying to get them merged so I'd get credit for CoV time played on my CoH account. The best offer they made was to permanently lock all my CoV characters and activate it on my CoH account.

I flipped them the bird, bought a copy of CoV from Amazon for four bucks, sold the Ghost Widow heroclix on Ebay for 15 bucks and got a free month in the bargain.

And I can still visit my villains on that account during reactivation weekends.

Hm, strange. I don't remember that. Was that a common problem back at the time?

My mind has mercifully blurred the details, but the way the option used to be worded made it sound like the "add CoV to your existing account" option would create a seperate CoV account, and vice versa.

Dunno if it was that widespread, but a couple of my friends did the same thing.

Since I wasn't interested in playing my heroes and there were no vet rewards to inspire loyalty to one account or the other, I said "oh well" and rolled up some bad guys.

So I got the 'eternal' badge last night instead of whatever much cooler one I would have had if I didn't screw up. =/

My gamin buddy went through something very similar. Added CoV without combining with CoH. Realized her mistake MUCH later and after several weeks of "what was your birthday when you signed up" and other assorted stupidity they let her merge the accounts. She ended up losing her previous account <and vet rewards> and ended up with a merged account with the lower month vet rewards.

I'm STILL tryin to get her to play again but its an uphill battle.

...just sayin

Yeah, a bunch of people I knew on the forums had the same problem. The instructions were very vague. The CoV boxed set seemed to assume you'd never purchased CoH and gave instructions as if that were the case.

The extra slots at 1st level will be a big difference! It may even make it feasible to trade from 1 inf to 2B inf on a level 1 toon...

Its not very useful. If by 63 months, you don't know the zones enough to even care about the FOW, then maybe it will be useful, but for me, its a useless power.

The only reason it'll be any good for me, is if new zones are introduced and then I can use the power, but for what we have now, nah, won't help much.

But even still its a nifty concept and I'm sure I will make use of it.

Get ahold of customer service if its not too late, I did the same thing.

I created a new account for cov and about a month later realized that something was just not right and so I [censored] at them and the transferred over my cov stuff cancelled the account that I created and I went on with time and grade accounted for.

I was under the assumption that the fog of war was for zone AND mission maps, thereby making it much easier to just head straight to the layer-cake cave room and curse the gods as you have to slaughter every-single-moving target and STILL miss one mob hiding behind a rock...

...yeah, after 66 months I will still be sore about that!

That's exactly what i tried to do, but their best offer was "we'll lock all your characters and apply a CoV serial to your CoH account but LOL at giving you credit for time played!"

I'd still be a bit behind the vet reward curve thanks to my post-ED retirement, but I sank over 9 months into CoV that was wasted as far as vet rewards are concerned.
